“Then what are we waiting for? Get in the car. I’m starving.”

Liang Ruoxu ran her fingers through her hair. She couldn’t do anything to convince Lin Yi, so she decided to get into the car and drive home.

When they reached home, Liang Ruoxu found Lin Yi a pair of slippers before the latter returned to his room. He changed into a set of long-sleeved pajamas and prepared to cook in the kitchen.

“Why did you change your style today? I remember the last time I came, you were wearing silk.” Lin Yi lay on the sofa like a boss.

“Why? Do I have to get Mr. Lin’s permission to wear whatever I want?”

!!
“Nope. I just don’t want them to hide in the darkness. Otherwise, they would have grown for nothing.”

“Even if I wore those silk pajamas, I’d only wear it over other clothes.” Liang Ruoxu said, “Set aside your bad intentions.”

As she spoke, Liang Ruoxu playfully rolled up her trouser legs, revealing her slender legs. “Just admire it for a while.”

“There’s no beauty to admire.”

“Be content. Other women’s legs aren’t as long as mine.”

“No other man is as long as I am either.”

“You’re the first person to act like a hooligan in front of me.”

They were both adults, so Liang Ruoxu naturally understood these dirty jokes.

She had grown up in a political courtyard and had heard of even more disgusting things.

Soon, the sound of cooking could be heard in the kitchen. Half an hour later, the dishes were served. One meat, one vegetable, and one soup dish. In terms of nutrition, it was very balanced.

“How much local funding do you want?” Liang Ruoxu asked while they were eating.

“Do I have the final say in this matter?”

“Of course, it won’t be a problem to find someone to talk to about this and to get some funds allocated to the project,” Liang Ruoxu said. “However, if the amount of funds required is too high in proportion to the amount you put in, you will be rejected.”

“How much do you think is appropriate? Just give me as much as you can. I’m not picky.”

“Then 40% it is,” Liang Ruoxu said. “It won’t cost much to build a road and a bridge for the town. You just need to spend a few million. Besides, you can leave all the work to Chaoyang Group, so the cost will probably be lower. When the time comes, I’ll help you. The funding will be yours.”

“Thank you, Beauty Liang. Other than devoting myself to you, I can’t find any other way to repay you.”

Liang Ruoxu picked up a piece of meat and said coquettishly, “Eat your food.”

After dinner, Lin Yi and Liang Ruoxu chatted for a while.

She planned to let Lin Yi choose the location of the Hope School in Zhonghai.

This would give him more support.

However, then she remembered that Lin Yi’s hometown was in Yangcheng, so she didn’t say anything.

After eating with Liang Ruoxu, Lin Yi drove home.

On the way back, he told Li Chuhan that he had something to do tomorrow morning and wouldn’t be going to the hospital.

Li Chuhan agreed readily and even reminded Lin Yi that if he didn’t have enough time, he could come in the afternoon.

However, Lin Yi didn’t agree to this. After all, he had to prepare to perform a surgery in the afternoon.

He had to prioritize the system mission.

After resting for a night, Lin Yi drove to the newly established research institute the next morning.

“President Yi is here.”

Shen Tianzhuo chuckled when he saw Lin Yi.

“Director Shen, how’s the progress now?”

The two of them sat down and Shen Tianzhuo poured two glasses of water. “We’ll be able to break through to create a 17-nanometer chip very soon. However, as you know, the most advanced chips now are all around 4-nanometers in size. We’re still far from the industry standard.”

“What’s the main problem stopping us from getting there?”

“Light source.”

Shen Tianzhuo answered bluntly, “Many important parts can be bought all over the world using some of my connections. Only the light source is posing a problem.”

Lin Yi rubbed his chin. “If we make it ourselves, how much money and time will it take?”

“Money is irrelevant to this. It will take at least three years.” Shen Tianzhuo said.

“However, it’s not worth it. Even if you successfully develop a four-nanometer light source, a company like Jaewon Television has already developed a three-nanometer light source. We’ve at least a generation behind, so the gap cannot be ignored. Therefore, we shouldn’t even try catching up to the rest of the world when it comes to this.”

Lin Yi completely agreed with Shen Tianzhuo’s words.

The situation in the world changed rapidly, and he could not wait that long.

Moreover, forget a person, even the power of an entire country could not produce a photolithography machine. It would be impossible to completely domesticate its production .

Therefore, the problem now was how to deal with the lack of a suitable light source.

“If I remember correctly, Cymer is the world’s top optical component manufacturer.”

“That’s right. ASML’s photolithography machine uses Cymer’s light source.”

Shen Tianzhuo said, “A few days ago, I met with the person-in-charge of Cymer in the Yatai region, but the results of the negotiation were not ideal.”

“Is there a ban in place?”

Shen Tianzhuo nodded. “They are very wary of Huaxia. They can sell you the previous generation products, but not the latest ones. As for the four-nanometer light source, we can all but forget about it.”

“This is too f*cking difficult.”

“You must have expected this, right?” Shen Tianzhuo smiled and said.

“It’s not easy to build a photolithography machine, but there’s no hurry. This is because the other components haven’t reached a suitable level either. Even if we buy it now, we won’t need it just yet.”

“Alright, I understand,” Lin Yi said, “I’ll think of something later.”

“In short, for now, the other parts are not difficult to develop. The problem will be the light source.” Shen Tianzhuo stood up. “Since you’re here, I’ll show you the other research and development reports and have you sign them.”

“Director Shen, I won’t bother reading the report. I don’t have to worry about you.” Lin Yi said.

“Can you call Lu Ying and Sun Fuyu over? I have something to tell them.”

“Alright, wait here.”

A few minutes later, Lu Ying and Sun Fuyu walked in.

“Boss, were you looking for us?” Lu Ying asked.

“For the next few days, put aside what you’re doing. I have something else to tell you.”

“Go ahead.”

“Prepare a press conference about our Chip 1.0 technology,” Lin Yi said.

“Ah? A press conference?” Lu Ying and Sun Fuyu were shocked. They felt that Lin Yi’s idea was a little unbelievable.

“Cisco has stolen our technology and applied for more than 20 patents. We might just receive a subpoena in the afternoon after the press conference is held,” Lu Ying said.

“We may say that we are using Chip 1.0 technology, but when the time comes, who says I’m actually going to release Chip 1.0 products?”

“Are you planning to release Chip 2.0 technology already?”

Lin Yi smiled faintly. “That’s right, but we have to create a smokescreen in front of us. We can’t let Cisco know too much. Otherwise, it won’t be fun when the mystery is revealed.”
