I Can See Experience Points

Chapter 69: Chapter 68: [I’ll Gouge Your Eyeballs Out]

The combination of the Mirror Spirit and the Dream Eye had wreaked havoc on the Cleaners. The pair had killed three members in a row, infuriating the Director. He had procured three anomalous items from the Energy Research Lab and launched a capture operation.

”Can we go take a look first?” Captain Zheng wasn’t entirely sure, so he wanted to investigate. Besides, even if he confirmed it, what then? The evil spirit was long gone. ’It’s not like it’s going to come back for another strike, is it?’

”Butler, take them to my daughter’s room. I’ll stay here with Xiaotao and Xiaozheng.”

Seeing everyone get up, He Xiaotian had no choice but to follow.

As the saying goes: you take their money, you solve their problems.

He hadn’t gotten his hands on the money yet, but no one could get away with not paying him!

「Second Floor, Bedroom.」

Captain Zheng and his two subordinates were holding strange instruments and conducting an inspection.

He Xiaotian, on the other hand, simply crossed his arms and watched from the sidelines.

”The mirror has a high concentration of residual yin energy. A comparison with our database confirms a match for the Mirror Spirit. We can basically confirm that the evil spirits that attacked last night were the Mirror Spirit and the Dream Eye. That man, Lv, must have been hypnotized by the Dream Eye the moment he entered.

”The Mirror Spirit then carried out the attack. But we can’t figure out how Lv disappeared. Something isn’t right. The two of them like to devour human souls or sadistically toy with their food. But there’s never been a record of a victim vanishing.

”Call Captain Lei and his team and ask them about this. This situation is a bit beyond our capabilities. It’s better to be cautious and play it safe.”

Ever since returning from Z County, Captain Zheng had gained a very keen sense of his own limitations.

He knew that for something like this, he could assist.

But if he tried to get deeply involved or foolishly handle it alone, the outcome would be anything but good.

An evil spirit that could kill people in a residential complex full of extraordinary individuals—how could you not be afraid?

’Speaking of which, Liu Rui’s bodyguard is seriously impressive.’

’He could actually sense the eruption of yin energy. He must be an extraordinary individual with extremely high-level perception.’

Without their instruments, they couldn’t even tell if the mirror had any residual yin energy.

Zhou Yun took out her phone and walked out of the room, apparently to call the Captain Lei that Captain Zheng had mentioned.

A moment later, the young woman came back in.

”What did Captain Lei say?”

”He said we should wait here, and he’s on his way immediately.”

Meanwhile, a pursuit squad composed of Cleaner team leaders, carrying three anomalous items, was speeding toward the Royal Garden Villa complex.

”So, does the name ’Liu’ refer to Liu Rui?”

”Not necessarily, it’s just a possibility. The information the Pen Immortal gave us was too vague. Our only choice is to believe the ’Liu’ it wrote refers to Liu Rui. The Deputy Director gave us a week. If we can’t solve this, we’ll have to put on rookie cop uniforms and go on patrol duty.”

The three people in the car talked continuously.

Ever since they had collected the three anomalous items from the Energy Research Lab, the bespectacled Deputy Director had given them a do-or-die order.

Completely eradicate the Mirror Spirit and the Dream Eye within seven days.

If they failed to meet the deadline, they’d be demoted to patrol duty.

’That’s how it is in the system!’

At first, the team was full of confidence.

But when they held a spiritualist ritual to ask the Pen Immortal just how many Mirror Spirits and Dream Eyes there were...

The green pencil just wrote a ”?”.

At that moment, Lei Yang nearly coughed up blood.

He wanted nothing more than to snap the pencil in half and eat it.

’I’m the one asking you!’

’What the hell do you mean by drawing a question mark?!’

Next, he asked who the Mirror Spirit and Dream Eye’s next target would be.

This time was better; the Pen Immortal actually wrote something.

’But you just wrote the name ’Liu’! How are we supposed to find them with just that?’

Forget the whole country, just how many people with the surname Liu are there in Shanghai alone?

The number was probably unimaginably huge.

Just as the three of them were at their wits’ end, Zhou Yun’s call came in, and she explained everything that had happened at Liu Rui’s house in detail.

The eyes of Lei Yang and the other team leaders instantly lit up, filled with a desperate will to survive.

In truth, they couldn’t be sure that the ”Liu” written by the Pen Immortal referred to the wealthy tycoon Liu Rui.

But it was a long shot they had to take.

What if they could catch a trace of the Mirror Spirit?

「Royal Garden, Building A01.」

He Xiaotian stroked his chin and asked Captain Zheng, ”This Mirror Spirit you’re talking about, is it a woman in a red dress with no eyes, weeping tears of blood? And the Dream Eye is an eyeball with a powerful Illusion Technique?”

”How do you know that?!” Captain Zheng’s jaw dropped, his face a mask of bewilderment.

’Aren’t the files on the Mirror Spirit only available to internal agencies?’

’How could an unaffiliated extraordinary individual get ahold of them?’

’Could it be that this mysterious person has friends in the Cleaners or Department 037?’

Three questions flashed through his mind.

”The night before last, those two things found me. I killed the Mirror Spirit. It’s just a shame that at the time, I didn’t know the eyeball wasn’t part of the Mirror Spirit. I thought it was just one of the evil spirit’s abilities.”

”You broke free from the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique and killed the Mirror Spirit?” Captain Zheng and his two-person team were completely stunned.

’Are you kidding me?!’

He’d never experienced the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique firsthand, but he’d heard of it.

The word ”legendary” might as well have been coined for it.

Even extraordinary individuals with incredibly high Spirit couldn’t resist it. They would fall into the trap, get assassinated by the Mirror Spirit, and have their eyes taken.

’So how did *you* do it?’

”Yeah. Is that strange?” He Xiaotian replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He had to admit, the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique was very powerful. But he was even more powerful.

’This is so frustrating.’

Captain Zheng, Zhao Lei, and Zhou Yun were all in a terrible mood.

’Why is it that every time we meet you, you have to twist the knife?’

’We haven’t done anything to offend you, have we?’

”How did you break free from the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique?”

They quickly composed themselves.

Captain Zheng asked, his expression a mixture of seriousness and eagerness.

If the mysterious X could explain his method for breaking the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique, the survival rate for them Cleaners might just skyrocket.

”It’s simple. You just have to see through it.”

”...”

If Captain Zheng wasn’t perfectly aware that he couldn’t beat He Xiaotian in a fight, he would have already rolled up his sleeves and frozen him into a block of ice.

’Damn it!’

’See through it?’

’If anyone could just ”see through it,” we wouldn’t have named it the Dream Eye!’

Its name, ”Dream Eye,” sounds just like the word for ”Nightmare.”

It is absolute nightmare and terror.

’If it could be seen through so easily, would it still be the Dream Eye?’

’We might as well just call it ”Eyeball”!’

”That said, it was precisely because the Dream Eye’s Illusion Technique was *too* realistic that it had a flaw,” He Xiaotian said, speaking frankly. If that eyeball hadn’t overplayed its hand, he might have actually fallen for it.

’An evil spirit piercing the defense I’m so proud of with just its fingernails? That’s beyond absurd.’

Captain Zheng rolled his eyes. ’Ma Dan! What did I ever do to you? Why are you twisting the knife again?’

’An illusion that’s *too* realistic... you call that a flaw?!’

’Does being strong mean you can do whatever you want?!’

’Does being strong mean you can say irresponsible things like that?!’

’If you’re so capable, why don’t you show me?’

And then... in the next second, his expression changed drastically.

Because on the wardrobe mirror in front of him, an eyeball had suddenly appeared.
