I Can See Experience Points

Chapter 57: Chapter 56: Bro, Your Hammer Is So Badass

He Xiaotian had been tailing the strangely-shaped SUV, but as he got closer to the Pu River Bridge, things became much more difficult.

The area was teeming with heavily armed soldiers. He even spotted some heavy weaponry.

Moreover, there were many people in plainclothes, gathered in twos and threes, talking about who knows what.

Others, with youthful faces, stood to the side, unable to get a word in and could only stare blankly.

’Those sloppily dressed guys are probably the special individuals recruited by the government.’

’The ones standing around not knowing what to do must be the school personnel Zhao Lei mentioned, probably here to gain some experience.’

A quick scan revealed at least a hundred people.

’Are you guys sure you’re just here to find a fish?’

’And not planning to completely bomb the Pu River!’

How much damage could a single special individual cause?

Combined with the heavy weapons in the soldiers’ hands, He Xiaotian would be brought to his knees in a single encounter.

His `Fire-refined Golden Body` had indeed reached its maximum level, but it still couldn’t withstand modern firearms.

Perhaps he wouldn’t fear a few handguns.

But on the Pu River Bridge, there was a heavy machine gun every ten meters or so, flanked by two soldiers carrying rocket launchers.

He even saw an anti-materiel rifle—an NTW-20.

As a self-proclaimed military enthusiast, he knew that this thing used 20mm Mauser cannon rounds.

Taking down a plane or a helicopter would be a piece of cake for it.

And there were many types of ammunition for it, such as high-explosive incendiary, high-explosive incendiary tracer, and high-explosive semi-armor-piercing incendiary tracer rounds, to name a few.

”?!”

He Xiaotian watched the soldiers bustling about on the Pu River Bridge, pushing crates of military supplies. His pupils constricted in an instant.

RPG-43 anti-tank grenades!!

It was considered the most powerful hand grenade in the world, with an armor penetration depth of 75mm and an anti-personnel kill radius of about 20 meters. Because it was packed with so much explosive charge, the grenade was very heavy. Even a burly soldier could only throw it about 20-something meters.

But watching a group of special individuals lining up to receive their equipment, He Xiaotian winced.

He was actually starting to pray for the fish monster. Modern equipment plus superhumans.

’Can the thing that escaped from under the Nine Dragon Pillar even withstand this?’

’Wouldn’t a single volley of anti-tank grenades be enough to crush it?’

Not to mention the heavy machine guns, anti-materiel rifles, and rocket launchers.

He felt that this group of special individuals, and himself included, seemed rather redundant.

’As long as it isn’t something unexplainable by science, like those evil spirits, any monster made of flesh and blood would be blown to smithereens, right?’

He considered leaving, but he wasn’t resigned to it.

He had finally stumbled upon a big boss. If he just left, who knows when he’d ever get another chance like this.

The river water began to recede. It seemed they were damming it upstream.

In less than an hour, the nearly twenty-meter-deep riverbed was exposed.

Then, He Xiaotian’s scalp tingled.

The riverbed was paved with a dense layer of human skulls.

Although most were buried in the silt, a small portion was visible enough to be clearly seen.

After the river’s flow was cut off, points of eerie green light ignited within their eye sockets.

The sight sent an uncontrollable shiver of dread through almost everyone present.

Except for the veterans who had undertaken several missions and fought evil spirits before, every single newcomer’s legs were trembling.

He Xiaotian’s eyes instantly turned red!!

’A thousand skull monsters... how many Experience Points would that give me?’

’Heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, anti-tank grenades—all forgotten.’

’I’m going to take them all on. No one’s allowed to steal my kills.’

’If I can smash them all to death, getting rich overnight won’t be just a dream.’

”Sir, we’ve spotted anomalous creatures. Awaiting orders to engage,” a soldier in combat fatigues reported to a man who looked to be in his thirties.

”Not yet. Let the rookies get some practice. These are just small fry anyway. It’ll save us the trouble of them fumbling around and holding us back on future missions,” the man said, rejecting the soldier’s request.

He then walked over to the students who were there to gain experience and said loudly, ”Originally, today’s operation plan did not include you. The academy brought you here merely to broaden your horizons, to let you see the brutal reality of the conflict between special individuals and demons and evil spirits.

”But right now, the riverbed is filled with nothing but small fry. To conserve the veterans’ stamina, you will be going down to fight and clear out these skulls. I hope you won’t be scared and crying for your mommies.”

”Yes, Dean!”

The forty-odd young men and women, their faces still boyish, shouted with excitement.

How could they not be excited to personally participate in a major case?

So this man in his thirties was the dean of the Academy for Special Individuals.

Ropes were thrown down from the Pu River Bridge, and the forty-something students descended to the riverbed one after another.

Then, in a chaotic swarm, they charged toward the thousand skulls.

”What the—?!”

The Dean’s eyes went wide, and he shot a vicious glare at someone.

”...”

Disorganized and undisciplined—that was the first impression this large group of students gave.

’Hadn’t the academy repeatedly stressed the importance of teamwork and cooperation?’

’No matter how strong one person is, their power is still mea—’

The Dean was mentally preparing his speech. He was going to give the students a harsh critique when they came back up.

But then, a figure wreathed in cyan flames, wielding two enormous Big Hammers, burst into his field of vision.

And into everyone else’s.

After his initial excitement, He Xiaotian calmed down, telling himself not to be impulsive.

’If those soldiers’ trigger fingers slip and they all open fire, I’ll be in for a world of hurt.’

But then, a group of people suddenly descended from the bridge, yelling and screaming as they charged at the skulls.

At that, he could no longer contain his power. Like a cannonball fired from its barrel, he shot straight down.

’That man who called himself a city Cleaner knows about me and is prepared to file a report.’

’And my old friends from Z County, Zhao Lei and his group, must have reported my information to the higher-ups already.’

’So even if I’m not an official operative, as long as I participate in wiping out these evil spirits, they should at least see me as an ally, right?’

’They wouldn’t shoot me in the back.’

”BOOM!” ”BOOM!”

Just as the forty-something people charged down, the skulls all shot into the air, trailing eerie green flames as they converged into a torrent.

[Ding! You have killed a Grudge Skull. You have gained 50 Experience Points.]

[Ding! You have killed a Grudge Skull. You have gained 50 Experience Points.]

[Ding! You have killed a Grudge Skull. You have gained 50 Experience Points.]

The text in the upper-left corner of his vision spammed continuously.

He Xiaotian was ecstatic. ’The Experience Points might be a little low per kill, but the sheer number of them is irresistible!’

With one swing of his hammer, he smashed at least thirty skulls to bits.

That was a solid 1,500 Experience Points in the bank.

”Bro! Those two Big Hammers of yours are brutal! What class are you in? Let’s get to know each other!”

A voice called out from behind He Xiaotian, but he was too busy to pay it any mind.

’Why waste time talking when I could be smashing a few more skulls?’
