I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: The Hunt

Duan Rong looked at the silver embossed cup in front of him, slightly surprised. The wine in the cup was actually green!

If it weren’t for the fact that the wine was served in a silver cup, Duan Rong would have suspected it to be poisoned!

The illustrations of thirst-quenching poison in Duan Rong’s mind always portrayed the zhen poison as green.

Duan Rong watched Ximen Kankan raise the cup and gulp down the faintly glowing green liquid, a look of enjoyment appearing on his round, chubby face.

Duan Rong picked up the cup in front of him, took a small sip first, and instantly felt a chill run down his spine straight to the back of his head, because the wine was simply too delicious!

Its mellow aroma was rich, unlike anything of this world!

Duan Rong’s eyes lit up, and he raised the cup, drinking it all in one go!

After downing the cup, he closed his eyes, not speaking for a long time, immersed in the rich fragrance of the wine, slowly savoring it...

Duan Rong opened his eyes again and exhaled a faint breath of wine...

”Brother Duan, you seem to be a lover of wine. Come! Have another cup!” Ximen Kankan picked up the wine bottle and poured another cup for Duan Rong.

Duan Rong looked at the green wine in the silver embossed cup in front of him, his eyes flickering. He looked at Ximen Kankan and asked with some doubt, ”Isn’t aged wine supposed to have a faint yellow hue? Why does this wine have a green glow?”

Ximen Kankan replied, ”Aged wine indeed turns yellow within thirty years! But after thirty years, it gradually turns green! This jug of Green Bamboo Leaf has been aged for thirty-two years, even older than both of us!”

Duan Rong clicked his tongue in slight amazement. ”Thirty-two years?”

An idea suddenly stirred in Duan Rong’s mind. He remembered an idiom, ”red lights and green wine.”

The ancients were meticulous with their words, and it seemed there truly was a basis for this!

Today, by drinking this wine, Duan Rong finally understood the true meaning of this idiom! Green wine is indeed the finest wine!

Afterward, more than ten dishes were served, each crafted with meticulous artistry!

After more than ten dishes, along with half a jug of Green Bamboo Leaf wine, Duan Rong was already full to the point of a round belly, his lips shining with the oil...

With each dish served, one was removed, leaving the whole table as pristine as before!

Ximen Kankan sat across from Duan Rong, already slightly tipsy, his round chubby face flushed with a rosy hue...

Duan Rong looked at Ximen Kankan and had to admit that Ximen Kankan really went all out with this meal. This was no ordinary treat; it could well be called an elaborate hunting!

”This kid must have some significant scheme!” Duan Rong thought secretly.

But what exactly was the matter?

Duan Rong was indeed somewhat curious!

Shi Kang cleared away the last dish and brought a pot of clear tea, pouring a cup each for Ximen Kankan and Duan Rong!

Ximen Kankan looked at Shi Kang and said, ”Stand guard outside the courtyard gate. Brother Duan and I have important matters to discuss and are not to be disturbed!”

Shi Kang acknowledged and retreated!

Duan Rong sipped the clear tea, sitting leisurely, knowing that the real drama was about to begin!

After watching Shi Kang leave, Ximen Kankan turned to Duan Rong and said, ”Master, I have a small wish hidden in my heart! I hope you can help fulfill it!”

Duan Rong looked at Ximen Kankan with a hint of a smile and said, ”Young Master Ximen, with such generous hospitality, if I can indeed help, I will do it!”

”Of course, you can!” Ximen Kankan said as he stood up, his expression slyly moving in front of Duan Rong, bending low to whisper in Duan Rong’s ear!

As Duan Rong listened, he stiffened in place, his face turning green!

Ah! The scheme has come to light!

With the request Ximen Kankan made, if it weren’t for Duan Rong needing him for the Dragon Flame Fat...

Even after such a sumptuous dinner, he would have stormed off, never to set foot in his West Gate Mansion again!

It was utterly shameless!

It turned out that Ximen Kankan had always admired Xia Shuangshuang, but looking like a short barrel himself, Xia Shuangshuang had never given him a second glance.

Yet, the more he wasn’t noticed, the more he longed, scraping at his heart...

What he had asked Duan Rong was to draw an erotic painting of Xia Shuangshuang’s body for him!

This vulgar wish was stirred up because, in one of Duan Rong’s previous paintings, he thought he could vaguely see Xia Shuangshuang’s face!

At that moment, he was startled...

But once this idea took root, it could not be shaken!

Moreover, Duan Rong had actually seen Xia Shuangshuang...

Seeing Duan Rong’s change in expression, Ximen Kankan immediately knelt halfway in front of the table, clasping his fists solemnly, ”If the master fulfills this wish, Kankan will serve you as an elder brother, ever ready at your command!”

Duan Rong looked at Ximen Kankan, his face uncertain, really wanting to kick Ximen Kankan’s chubby face to the ground!

However, Duan Rong soon calmed down. Although this matter was extremely debased and obscene, it was also shameful. If this event were exposed, how could Xia Zhongyang ever let Ximen Kankan off the hook?

Offending the God of Wealth of Xianggu County, it wasn’t just Ximen Kankan who would be in trouble—his father, Ximen Yong, too, wouldn’t escape cleanly...

From this perspective, this incident was certainly an excellent opportunity for him to control Ximen Kankan!

”Young Master Ximen, please stand up!” Duan Rong got up and helped Ximen Kankan to his feet.

Seeing the change in Duan Rong’s demeanor, Ximen Kankan’s eyes sparkled with eager anticipation.

After helping Ximen Kankan up, Duan Rong paced back and forth in the hall...

Suddenly stopping, Duan Rong looked at the somewhat nervous Ximen Kankan and said, ”Young Master Ximen, I will agree to this thing!”

Ximen Kankan’s face changed, and he exclaimed excitedly, ”Thank you, Master!”

”No! Thank you, Brother!” Ximen Kankan immediately corrected himself, speaking with solemnity.

Duan Rong patted Ximen Kankan’s hand and said, ”Prepare the materials! I will start painting now!”

Ximen Kankan got everything ready, moving a chair himself to guard the hall door, leaving Duan Rong alone to paint in front of the table!

Duan Rong ground the ink as he recalled Xia Shuangshuang’s face!

Xia Shuangshuang already had stunning beauty, and with Duan Rong refined in his painting skills and sensitive to facial features, a quick recollection allowed him to capture it!

The remaining question was what kind of body to give her?

After pondering, Duan Rong decided to depict it truthfully!

Xia Shuangshuang was slender, with only slightly raised breasts, not exactly the voluptuous type!

Duan Rong used an ink brush to dip in ink and first sketched out her appearance and figure with fine lines!

Looking at Xia Shuangshuang’s face on the canvas, a sense of guilt instantly surged in Duan Rong’s heart...

Duan Rong had to push aside this feeling, mixing and applying the color carefully...

After finishing the overall painting, Duan Rong began to work on some details... these were the embellishments that made the painting come alive...

Duan Rong took careful effort to delineate an intricate, three-dimensional navel...

Of course, there were other parts as well...

Though the Xia Shuangshuang in the painting was depicted without a stitch of clothing, Duan Rong still had her hands slightly raised in a seductive pose, while draping a sheer red veil behind her, supported by her hands, enhancing the overall aesthetic...

Upon finishing, Duan Rong looked at his work and felt quite satisfied!

”Although the motive is vile, the work itself is innocent! Good is good after all!” Duan Rong comforted himself. He waved his hand, calling Ximen Kankan, who was standing guard at the hall entrance, to come over.
