After watching the battle for a while, Ying Wuji sported a solemn expression. Although Lu Ye was truly powerful and could easily destroy the corpses, there were too many enemies. He couldn’t possibly kill them all on his own.

If the battle went on infinitely, even someone like Lu Ye would be drained of all energy and die.

However, Lu Ye didn’t seem to have any intention of retreating. He was still charging around the corpses with his saber.

An anxious Ying Wuji could only consume some Spirit Pills to heal his injuries.

On the battlefield, Lu Ye slaughtered the enemies while scanning the surroundings with his soul.

After battling for a long time, he had detected some incongruity.

There was no doubt these corpses didn’t exude any vitality. In other words, they were dead creatures, but they were able to move like they were still alive. Moreover, while they were engulfed in the yellow cloud formed from Corpse Qi, they were able to exhibit stronger powers than when they were alive.

There was apparently something off about it.

Lu Ye had a feeling that these corpses were like marionettes, and someone was controlling them.

He had been charging around the corpses with the sole purpose of finding that hidden person. As long as the person was found, the group of corpses could be dealt with easily.

He initially thought that the person was hiding in a secret corner or had a skill that could conceal his presence like the Ghost Cultivators. But now, that didn’t seem to be the case.

The person controlling the corpses was hiding among them! There was no doubt he was brave.

Oddly enough, Lu Ye couldn’t feel any vitality, nor could he find any traces. Therefore, he could only use such a simple method to find the person.

There came a moment when he extended his saber in a particular direction and detected something.

After such a long time, he had killed several hundred corpses. Nevertheless, those corpses would never dodge his attacks. That was because they were dead and under someone’s control, so they were not afraid of death and pain.

However, as Lu Ye pushed out his saber, a corpse came forward and stood in front of another corpse.

That looked like a coincidence, but Lu Ye, who already had some speculation in mind, could see that the person had inadvertently exposed himself.

He immediately turned around and set his eyes on an inconspicuous corpse, which looked as ordinary as the rest. The corpse was withered, most of his flesh was decayed, and he was covered in a thick layer of Corpse Qi.

When he was among these corpses, no one would spare him another glance.

Nonetheless, as soon as he realised he had caught Lu Ye’s attention, the light was restored to his turbid eyes as he flew backwards at once.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Lu Ye’s gaze turned sharp as his ferocious aura locked onto him. His Spiritual Power surged as he charged forward with his sword.

Even though countless corpses came right at him, they couldn’t slow him down one bit. He made a passage through the corpses and soon reached that particular corpse.

Since the corpse had been exposed, he knew he could no longer keep hiding. He opened his mouth and growled at Lu Ye. A puff of visible Corpse Qi came right at him.

Ying Wuji, who had been hiding somewhere, was shocked as he exclaimed, “Watch out, Lu Yi Ye!”

He had suffered the same kind of setback, which struck him with the Corpse Poison. Otherwise, considering his power, he wouldn’t have fallen into a perilous situation even if he couldn’t defeat these corpses.

If he hadn’t bumped into Lu Ye, he would’ve become one of these corpses.

However, his heads-up came too late. The thick Corpse Qi had engulfed Lu Ye, and Ying Wuji felt his heart sinking.

He had never expected that he would worry about Lu Ye one day. Life was indeed full of uncertainties.

[Lu Yi Ye is doomed!] As soon as the thought turned over in Ying Wuji’s mind, he had the urge to retreat.

The next moment, a familiar figure emerged from the thick Corpse Qi. His savage aura hadn’t weakened one bit. His blade penetrated the air and slashed across the corpse’s arms and legs before he jabbed his saber into the corpse’s skull.

The clamorous battlefield fell silent all of a sudden. These ominous corpses were rooted to the spot as if they had been bound. Only the thick, yellow Corpse Qi was rolling.

Ying Wuji lifted his gaze and saw that Lu Ye had penetrated his saber into the corpse’s skull. At first glance, it looked like he had pinned the corpse in the sky.

The gale gusted through Lu Ye, causing his clothes to flap in the air.

Ying Wuji was astonished at the sight. He couldn’t help but think that Lu Ye could always achieve the impossible.

He was in the 16th spot in the Fight for Supremacy, but he was powerless against these enemies. On the other hand, Lu Ye could easily subdue them. There was indeed a huge difference between the two of them.

He was glad that Lu Ye wasn’t far away from him and he happened to bump into him earlier. Otherwise, he would’ve lost his life here.

The Inviolable Saber had only penetrated the corpse’s flesh instead of his head. Therefore, no severe damage had been done.

However, since he had been exposed and all his limbs were gone, he could no longer kick up a storm.

His eyes were trembling as he looked at Lu Ye in disbelief. He parted his lips and said in a hoarse voice, “How did you discover me?”

He had over 8,000 corpses under his control, so he was a force to be reckoned with in the entire Peerless Continent. With the help of his corpses, he had been invincible over the years, and no one had yet been able to discover him among the corpses.

But now, there was this person who was able to subdue him as soon as he found him.

Lu Ye arched his brow when he heard the person speak. Although he had confirmed that the corpses were under someone’s control, he believed that the person must be a cultivator.

It was just like the Way of Beastmastery in Jiu Zhou. However, the Beastmasters controlled Spirit Beasts while the cultivators in the Peerless Continent controlled corpses.

Perhaps they were cultivators in the Way of Corpsemastery and they could be called Corpsemasters.

Regardless, Lu Ye had always believed that this person was alive at the very least. But now, it seemed that his speculation was wrong.

Although this person, whose limbs were severed from his body, could speak and had intense emotions, Lu Ye couldn’t feel any vitality coming from him.

Moreover, his appearance showed that it had been a long time since he died.

If not for the fact that Lu Ye had a powerful soul and he caught sight of the unusual move, it would’ve been impossible for him to find this person among the large group of corpses.

“How could you possibly find me?” The ‘Corpsemaster’ growled again. Although his face was rotten, his eyes were filled with resentment. If not for the fact that his head had been pinned down, he would’ve counterattacked.

Lu Ye extended his Inviolable Saber further and said menacingly, “I ask, you answer.”

An enraged ‘Corpsemaster’ parted his lips and replied icily, “No matter what you want to know, I won’t tell you a thing. We, the Corpse Race, are the undead, so death means nothing to us. Only Humans are afraid of death!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the Corpse Qi that engulfed the corpses started squirming as if having a spirituality of its own. Meanwhile, the corpses, which seemed to have been bound, started moving again.

They came right at Lu Ye from all directions while growling and wielding their claws.

As Lu Ye’s Spiritual Power surged, the Inviolable Saber was set aflame. He wielded his weapon, and the corpse’s head exploded as the headless corpse fell to the ground.

The corpses that were coming at him were like marionettes whose strings had snapped as they fell from the sky and crashed into the ground. Upon impact, they broke apart as their bodily fluid scattered everywhere, which was a horrifying sight.

Without the ‘Corpsemaster’ controlling them, the corpses were fragile.

In just a moment, all 8,000 corpses turned into carrion and broken bones. The air in the wilderness stank terribly.

A gale gusted through the place, and the thick yellow cloud was gone with the wind.

“They’re all destroyed!” Ying Wuji looked dazedly at everything as his heart was filled with a sense of surrealism.

He had slightly recovered with the help of the Spirit Pills, and he was relieved that the Corpse Poison in his body had been alleviated.

He was from Yama Temple, so the pills he brought with him were not ordinary. Certainly, he always had Antidote Pills with him.

However, it was his first time coming across Corpse Poison. Although his Antidote Pills were effective, he would need more time to fully recover.

After giving it some thought, he stepped out of his concealment and beckoned to Lu Ye. “Lu Yi Ye, it’s a dangerous place, so we’re not supposed to stay here for long. Let’s go.”

If he had a choice, he wouldn’t want to stay by Lu Ye’s side. Only when one had seen him fight would he know how powerful this man was.

However, in such a situation, if Ying Wuji separated from Lu Ye, he would be powerless to counterattack when he bumped into another group of corpses.

On the one hand, it was an unknown world that was full of danger. On the other hand, it was the powerful Lu Ye with whom he was somewhat familiar. Naturally, he would choose the latter, especially when it could be said that he owed Lu Ye a favour for saving his life.

He also believed that Lu Ye understood the current situation and wouldn’t harm him.

In mid-air, Lu Ye snapped back to reality. He waved his hand as a lifelike Fire Dragon appeared and zigzagged downwards.

The Fire Dragon crashed into the ground and set everything ablaze. A disgusting smell permeated the place. Soon, all the broken corpses were burned and charred.

After Lu Ye was done with all this, he turned around and flew forward in a particular direction. Seeing that, Ying Wuji hurriedly followed him.

The turbid Sun sank into the horizon, but no Moon rose up. Even the sky was void of Stars.

This was a broken world that was coming to an end soon. However, nine Outsiders arrived in this world all of a sudden, bringing a glimmer of hope to this world that was destined for destruction.
