Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1576 1576: The Goal – to Destroy

Somewhere in the far reaches of the Dark Shore, in one of the many towers, footsteps echoed among the stones lit only by rare red torches.

The man in expensive clothes ran down the corridor, hurrying toward the large gate in the distance.

He wasted no time and opened the doors, bursting inside.

”Miss! I have important news for you!” The man exclaimed before dropping to one knee in a sign of respect.

The woman standing on the balcony with a glass of wine in her hand slowly turned around.

”Hmm? What could be so important that you barged into my chambers? Today is such a nice day...”

”It could get even better!” The man exclaimed.

”How so?”

The man waved his hand.

”Adam Vinter, one of the Stellar Phantoms. We know where he is, and whatʼs more, heʼs with that girl, Alexia.”

The second name wasnʼt as important to her as the first, but still, it piqued her interest.

”Adam Vinter...? They both have a chance to become Second Rank Phantoms. We canʼt let that happen, thatʼs true. Where is he now?”

The man smiled.

”The Primal Lands. The middle part. He fought against a powerful monster and is now recovering. We think it will take him anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to return to his peak strength.”

”Hmm?” The woman raised her eyebrow. ”Does he have a base there?”

The man nodded in confirmation.

”Heʼs staying at a hunterʼs house.”

”A hunter, I see. In that case, itʼs time to call in the Crown Squad.”

The tension in the room increased as the manʼs expression became more serious than ever.

”Yes. Send the fifth team. Liliane should be able to handle this job. That girl, Alexia, let them kill her, do the same with the hunter, but...”

The woman bit her lip.

”Let her try to take Adam Vinter alive if possible. Having a Phantom like him in our hands will be a serious trump card.”

The man bowed his head as he placed his palm on his chest.

”Yes. I will do everything possible to get them on the mission as soon as possible!”

He left, leaving the woman alone to gaze at the great city and its majestic towers.

ʼHunter, right? If Adam Vinter were stronger, he might have met him, but at least we donʼt have to worry about that. Thatʼs good.ʼ

...

At the same time, in another part of the city, a group of seven people practiced in a spacious complex that resembled ancient ruins.

BAM!

The flaming hammer collided with the lightning axe as the two men gritted their teeth, trying to gain an advantage over their opponent. In the end, they both had to jump aside. They were equal.

The girl with long blond hair and deep blue eyes stood to the side.

Her gaze was piercing, and her hands were crossed over her chest.

She watched their every move closely, as well as the other four members of their team.

After all, she was their leader, and it was her job.

”Excellent.” Liliane nodded deeply. ”As number two and number three, you must be equal in strength. This provides power and stability for our formation.”

The men nodded.

One of them slung his axe over his shoulder.

”Boss. We havenʼt had any missions in a long time. Is Miss angry with us again?”

His buddy leaned on his hammer and shrugged.

”What else can we expect? I mean, we were told not to kill everyone and to leave a few survivors, but... We just couldnʼt stop.”

”Yeah!” The young man on the side exclaimed in the middle of his sparring. ”No one dares to insult you, Lady Liliane!”

Liliane did not react to this.

”This time, we will carry out the mission as we are ordered. We are part of the Crown Squad, it is our duty to show the best results.”

Crash!

During their conversation, the iron gate opened as the man entered.

All members of the fifth team turned around and immediately fell to one knee before him. Even Liliane was no exception.

”Mr. Overseer, to what do we owe the honor of your visit? Do you have a mission for us?” Liliane asked respectfully, without raising her head.

The man nodded deeply.

”I just spoke with Miss. She listened to me and confirmed the mission. You must leave immediately. You will have a little time to prepare if necessary.”

Liliane slowly raised her head.

”We will carry out any order, we are one of the Crown Squad. Tell us who or what our target is.”

The others nodded, but did not dare to raise their eyes.

The man scratched his short beard.

”Not long ago, a few months ago, the watchers rushed and made a serious mistake. They tried to kill a very important Phantom.”

Liliane narrowed her eyes.

”You wanted to capture this Phantom alive, but they killed him?”

Strangely enough, the man shook his head, which surprised the entire fifth team.

”They couldnʼt do it. That day, more than a dozen of the Lords died.”

Lilianeʼs and the othersʼ eyes widened in disbelief. From time to time, the Lords died in battle, but this could not be called an ordinary event.

”Was this Phantom really that strong?” The girl with red hair muttered.

The young man shrugged carelessly. ”I donʼt know, but it sounds incredible!”

The man raised his hand, restoring silence.

”At that time, this Phantom was still too weak. It was at the limit of the K3-Level and was undergoing an evolution to the next level. Two Lords who did not obey us helped him escape and survive.

”Kenward from the Free End and Saegar, one of the neutral Lords. They didnʼt let us execute and end the life of this Phantom. They killed more than ten of our people. But... The one who really changed the situation was Wilfred, the Blighted Wanderer.”

Liliane gulped.

The names the man uttered were well known to each of them.

”B-But... If such powerful beings came to his defense, what kind of Phantom is he?”

She clenched her fists.

”Who are we supposed to eliminate in our mission?”

The man narrowed his eyes.

”Adam Vinter. That is your target.”
