Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2390 Sacred Instincts

”Why- Why would reveal your trump card like that?”

Davis couldnʼt tell if Everlight was naive or just wanted him to believe her so much that she would divulge her absolute lifeline against him in case he were to turn out to be a villain for her. After all, they werenʼt that close, to begin with.

”As I said… I want master to possess complete trust in me. Without it, I canʼt prove my loyalty...”

Everlight bit her lips, looking slightly worried as she raised her head.

”…” Davis could only stare at Everlight as his mind reeled in lingering shock as he thought.

This woman was too good to be true, no? Was it because she was a magical beast that she could be this gullible or, rather, honorable and dedicated beyond what he could imagine?

Was it the influence of the graciousness of the Nine Lives Gracious Fox that she could be this innocent and virtuous?

Although he hadnʼt heard stories about the Nine Lives Gracious Fox, judging by the name itself, it seemed to be a remarkably kind existence and worshiped or cherished by people.

After all, if it wasnʼt worshiped and protected for its abilities and grace, how come its glorious name was known but not the Nether Springs Death Wolf that was probably like yang and yin in the magical beast world because of their possible heavenly tribulation factors?

He felt that only through the protection of the denizens of the world was the Nine Lives Gracious Fox able to protect itself from its heavenly factor and able to pass down its legends, unlike the Nether Springs Death Wolf, which was practically unknown.

Even Myria seemed to have no idea about Nadiaʼs species name, or she wouldʼve informed him when she was explaining the dangers his other women could possibly encounter.

”Davis, marry Everlight.”

As he was in his thoughts, Evelynnʼs voice suddenly echoed, causing him to turn to look at the serious expression that Evelynn wore.

”Yeah, our marriage isnʼt as half as important as hers.” Sophie nodded with an absentminded expression.

”Although I hate to agree, Sophie is right.” Nieraʼs cheeks puffed, ”We all trust you, Davis, but itʼs better if you make Everlight yours, so we can all trust her as a sister. We canʼt simply hand over her soul essence to someone we know quite less about, especially when she claimed that she ʼcouldʼ put a controlling seed in us, after all.”

”You all…”

Davis couldnʼt help but wryly smile as even the young ones recognized Everlightʼs importance to them. Moreover, they were mature enough to indirectly accept that Everlightʼs usefulness far outweighed their own, causing him to feel heartened.

He took a deep breath and shook his head, ”Unfortunately, Iʼm a stubborn man. The more an influence I dislike is set on me, the more I defy it. Everlight, if you seduce me of your own will instead of relying on your sacred aura, Iʼll marry you and make you mine. Otherwise, weʼll just stay as we are now, perhaps improving our relationship to man and beast companions.”

Davis was straightforward as he spoke with a straight face, causing Everlight and the others to be stunned.

But Evelynn simply smiled, knowing that he could be stubborn when it concerned love and marriage as it was a form of eternal promise for him more than anyone could think of.

However, Everlight suddenly clenched her fists and released them, taking a deep breath as she did so before she stepped forward, reaching Davis.

Her actions garnered attention, but no one moved. In fact, their eyes widened as they saw Everlight tiptoeing as she reached out for Davis, placing her frail and pale hands on their broad shoulders as she neared his lips, intending to kiss him!

However, she abruptly stopped at the last second, inches away from kissing Davis.

Her face appeared petrified, her eyes turning bloodshot, but she finally took a step back as she took deep breaths, her face full of disbelief.

”See? Although your will wants me, your body, your instincts as a Nine Lives Gracious Fox doesnʼt allow it.”

Davisʼs eyes narrowed into tiny slits, ”Youʼre unsulliable, Everlight.”

”…! I- Iʼm sorry...”

Tears emerged out of Everlightʼs eyes as she couldnʼt suppress the overwhelming urge that disallowed her to kiss him, even thinking that it was a disgrace beyond compare. She wanted to prove that she was willing, but even that wasnʼt allowed anymore.

Just what kind of body had she gotten into? She hated this sensation.

But at this moment, Davis captured her shoulders and slightly strengthened his grip.

”Donʼt worry. It is perfectly fine since you havenʼt gotten used to your new body, which creates dissonance in your body and Will stemming from the soul. Still, Iʼll wait for you since Iʼm starting to like you way more than I thought...”

Everlightʼs teary eyes shook before she lightly smiled, ”Yes… master~”

Davis nodded as he gave her an assuring smile. He could sense her feelings, but with the way she reacted to each touch of his, including head pats, it didnʼt take him a lot to realize that she was forcefully suppressing her regal will to let him do so.

However, there was only so much she could suppress, so he wasnʼt willing to ruin her psyche and create more dissonance just to make sure that he could believe her.

In fact, he was already convinced that she wouldnʼt betray him when she revealed her trump card. If she did it to gain his trust so that she could screw him later, then he could only blame himself, but after all these actions, he felt like he could trust her by giving her a chance.

Otherwise, he felt that he would be too heartless of a person.

Evelynn, Sophie, and Niera also couldnʼt help but smile at each other, believing that Everlight was a good and upright person whom they could trust. She also had a history of wanting to save Davis when he was in danger of being assailed by immortals, so they were more inclined to believe that she would not betray them.

However, Everlightʼs situation gave Evelynn some insights into another personʼs situation. Did that person also feel like this, unwilling to be sullied even if they could come to love a person?

She couldnʼt help but wonder.

*Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~*

At this moment, Isabella and the others reappeared as they entered the Nurturing Life Formation.

”Well, it seems like that was enough time-”

”Ah!”

Everlightʼs eyes abruptly widened as she pointed her finger at the incoming party, ”Master, I know… I know how I can prove my loyalty. Mistress Isabellaʼs Earth Dragon… I… I can allow it to become an Emperor-Tier Magical Beast by sacrificing three of my nine tails!”

”…!”

Isabella, who was walking towards them with a light smile on her face, had her steps falter as she almost fell.
