Chapter 492: Chapter 492: Unable to Distinguish the Loyal from the Treacherous

After talking with Li Tian that night, Lin Yun understood his plan. The more he acted like a decadent young master, unable to distinguish between the loyal and the traitorous, the more those families involved with the mysterious organization would look down on him.

Li Tian wanted them to believe that Lin Yun’s arrival in Wind City was nothing to fear. Only by making them lower their guard could Li Tian more quickly find the mysterious organization’s base of operations.

The reason Li Tian had Lin Yun target families unwaveringly loyal to the Flawless Palace at first was also to make them lower their guard.

Lin Yun would operate in the open while Li Tian worked in the shadows. The next day, Lin Yun began his operation, taking He Yuntian, Bai Zhicheng, and Little Ape with him. As for Zhou Wen, Lin Yun had him follow Li Tian.

The group was joined by many Martial Artists from the Bai Family, led by a Celestial Spirit Realm expert specifically assigned to them. For their first stop, Lin Yun went to the Wang Family, a clan that had been steadfastly loyal to the Flawless Palace for generations.

Acting like the ultimate spoiled brat, Lin Yun didn’t even knock, leading his men to barge right in. He swaggered into the Wang Family’s main hall and sat down. Soon, the Patriarch of the Wang Family, having received the news, hurried to the main hall.

Seeing Lin Yun’s incredibly arrogant demeanor, the Patriarch of the Wang Family, though furious inside, suppressed his anger and asked, ”Young Master Lin, what brings you to my Wang Family today?”

”Hmph. I suspect your Wang Family is disloyal to the Flawless Palace. I’ve come today specifically to conduct a search,” Lin Yun said with a theatrical snort.

’Disloyal?’ Hearing Lin Yun’s words, the Patriarch’s expression turned ugly. His Wang Family had been a vassal family to the Flawless Palace for generations and had never committed a single act of disloyalty or betrayal.

”Young Master Lin, I don’t know who told you this, but the Wang Family’s loyalty to the Flawless Palace has been proven for generations. How can you speak of disloyalty?” the Patriarch of the Wang Family replied coldly.

Hearing this, Lin Yun didn’t have the Patriarch dismiss the household servants. It went without saying that every word he said here today would likely reach the ears of that mysterious organization.

At once, Lin Yun deliberately reminded him, ”Since Patriarch Wang insists the Wang Family is unwaveringly loyal to the Flawless Palace, then why is it that a full night has passed since my arrival in Wind City, and your Wang Family has shown no consideration whatsoever? Is this what you call being unwaveringly loyal?”

Lin Yun’s meaning was obvious: I’m here for money today. If you don’t give me any, I’ll insist your Wang Family is disloyal to the Flawless Palace.

Hearing this, Patriarch Wang laughed in fury. ”Haha, I have been Patriarch of the Wang Family for nearly a hundred years, and I never thought the Flawless Palace would produce such a head Disciple. This has truly opened my eyes.”

”At yesterday’s banquet, you killed Patriarch Qi and Patriarch Cai. Today, you come to my Wang Family to plunder and extort. Lin Yun, don’t you think you are completely unworthy of being the head Disciple of the Flawless Palace?” Patriarch Wang demanded.

Hearing Patriarch Wang’s words, Lin Yun instantly flew into a rage. ”Insolence! It seems to me the Wang Family really does have a problem! Men! Search the place! Turn the Wang Family upside down!”

Upon hearing Lin Yun’s command, the Celestial Spirit Realm expert from the Bai Family was also displeased. ’Lin Yun’s behavior is that of the most shameless, detestable spoiled brat.’ However, before they left, Bai Ling had specifically instructed him to follow all of Lin Yun’s orders.

With a grim face, the Bai Family’s Celestial Spirit Realm expert barked at his subordinates, ”Search.”

In an instant, the entire Wang Family estate was turned upside down. Both the servants’ quarters and the masters’ rooms were all ransacked and left in a mess.

Soon, all of the Wang Family’s valuables were found. Glancing at the dozens of Space Rings, Lin Yun smiled faintly and pocketed them all.

”Lin Yun, you’re unworthy of being the head Disciple of the Flawless Palace! You’re just a good-for-nothing spoiled brat!” Patriarch Wang roared in fury, seeing all his family’s wealth plundered by Lin Yun.

Completely ignoring Patriarch Wang’s roar, Lin Yun swaggered out of the Wang Family estate. As he walked, he even uttered a threat, ”Patriarch Wang, you’d better hope I don’t find out about any disloyalty to the Flawless Palace. Otherwise, next time won’t be so pleasant.”

As he watched Lin Yun’s departing figure, Patriarch Wang’s eyes looked like they were about to spew fire. Only one of the Wang Family servants had a strange glint in his eyes.

After leaving the Wang Family, Lin Yun went on to raid three more clans in succession. The result was naturally the same as with the Wang Family; all their wealth was forcibly taken by Lin Yun. The patriarchs of these three clans, like Patriarch Wang, were burning with rage toward Lin Yun.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that Lin Yun returned to the Bai Family. But while he had returned, news of what Lin Yun had done had already spread throughout all the great clans of Wind City.

The patriarchs of many clans were furious. ’This Lin Yun is absolute trash! He’s using the Flawless Palace’s name to plunder and extort, slapping a ’disloyal’ label on anyone he pleases just to search their homes.’

But while some were furious, others were naturally pleased. At that moment, in the Wu Family estate, Patriarch Wu was sitting on a stone bench in the garden. Beside him sat a seductive woman—his newly-wed concubine, who was formerly a courtesan from a brothel.

Seeing the smile on Patriarch Wu’s face, the woman asked curiously, ”Husband, why are you so happy today? I haven’t seen you smile like this in days.”

”Haha, you wouldn’t know. This head Disciple sent by the Flawless Palace this time is a complete idiot. In a single day, he’s robbed three great clans in a row, earning the wrath of gods and men in Wind City. Haha, it’s wonderful!” Patriarch Wu laughed.

”Oh? This head Disciple of the Flawless Palace is quite the scoundrel. But Husband, aren’t you afraid he’ll come to our family?” the woman asked.

Hearing the woman’s words, Patriarch Wu wasn’t the least bit worried. Instead, he said in a low voice, ”I’ll tell you a secret. It doesn’t matter to me whether he comes or not. In fact, I’d welcome a visit to the Wu Family.”

”Why?”

”Why? Because I have a powerful backer behind me! Haha, a backer that can rival the Flawless Palace!” Flushed with wine and excitement, Patriarch Wu had let it slip. He quickly caught himself and turned to look at his concubine warily. When he saw no change in her expression, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Immediately, Patriarch Wu whispered to his concubine, ”What I just told you, you must never tell anyone else. Understand?”

”I understand,” the woman replied with a nod.

Patriarch Wu was very fond of this concubine of his. Not only was she beautiful, but her skills in the bedroom were also exceptional. This was why Patriarch Wu didn’t kill her.

If it had been anyone else, even his principal wife, who had heard what he just said, Patriarch Wu would have likely killed them to silence them without a second thought. But this new concubine, he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
