Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 488: Chapter 488: Drinking and Killing (Part 1)

At such a young age, Lin Yun had already reached a level far beyond the grasp of others. Many of the onlooking Martial Artists were filled with envy. They didn’t dare dream of matching him; they would be satisfied with even one percent of his strength.

”Sigh, comparing yourself to others will only make you miserable,” one Martial Artist lamented, then turned and walked back into the city without a second glance.

”Young Master Lin, if you please.” After the murmurs of astonishment subsided, Bai Ling invited Lin Yun to board the Bai Family’s carriage, then boarded it herself.

As for He Yuntian and his two companions, they rode in a separate carriage.

The patriarchs of every major family had come to welcome Lin Yun. In an instant, a procession of over a hundred carriages set off towards the Bai Family’s estate. The Bai Family had already informed all the major families in Wind City of Lin Yun’s arrival and announced that a banquet would be held in his honor at their home today.

Sharing the carriage with Bai Ling, Lin Yun began rubbing his temples as soon as he was seated. He truly hated these sycophantic occasions; deep down, he much preferred peace and quiet.

”What’s wrong? Not a fan of this sort of reception?” Bai Ling asked with a smile, noticing his discomfort.

”Yes, I really don’t,” Lin Yun replied.

”Then what will you do about the banquet tonight?” Bai Ling teased.

Hearing this, Lin Yun looked up at Bai Ling, his expression growing serious. ”Speaking of which, how are the preparations for the matter I had Bai Zhicheng message you about?”

”Don’t worry, everything is arranged. We can begin as soon as you give the word,” Bai Ling replied.

Knowing there were no issues, Lin Yun nodded. ’Today’s banquet isn’t really to welcome me; it’s part of the plan Bai Ling and I already devised.’

Upon arriving at the Bai Mansion gates, well-prepared Bai Family servants respectfully led the carriages to the rear courtyard for keeping. Meanwhile, Bai Ling led the guests toward the Bai Family Main Hall.

There were over a hundred guests, but for a great family like the Bai, this was a small crowd. The Bai Family Main Hall had been prepared in advance, and it easily accommodated everyone without feeling the least bit crowded.

Once everyone was seated, Bai Family maids began serving wine and delicacies.

Lin Yun took the seat of honor. Flanking him were Patriarch Bai and Patriarch He. Seated below them were Bai Zhicheng, He Yuntian, and Zhou Wen.

The feast prepared by the Bai Family was indeed exquisite. The moment the aroma wafted by, Little Ape, who had been sound asleep in Lin Yun’s arms, leaped out. His fist-sized body landed directly on the table, and he immediately began to eat.

As he ate, Little Ape mumbled to Lin Yun, ”Big Brother, this stuff is delicious! Tell them to bring more.”

The sudden appearance of a Little Demon Beast was rather strange to the patriarchs, but in Lin Yun’s presence, they naturally wouldn’t say a word.

Lin Yun glanced at Bai Ling with a smile. Understanding his unspoken request, she had a maid quickly bring out a large platter of Demon Beast Flesh. At the sight of it, Little Ape’s eyes went wide. He ignored everything else, plopped down next to Lin Yun, and began to feast.

”Haha, please don’t mind him,” Lin Yun said to the guests with a smile. ”This is my Demon Beast. He’s had a huge appetite since he was little.”

In response, everyone present naturally forced a smile, insisting they didn’t mind at all. Some even went so far as to praise Little Ape for being cute.

As the banquet began, the Bai Family presented dancers and musicians, fine wine, and beautiful women. Lin Yun deliberately avoided mentioning his purpose for coming to Wind City, instead putting on the airs of a profligate son, his eyes fixed in a lecherous gaze upon the beautiful dancers.

Seeing him act this way, some of the family patriarchs scoffed inwardly. ’So the head disciple of Flawless Palace isn’t as amazing as the legends say. He’s just another lecher.’

Many who didn’t know the truth were quite disappointed in Lin Yun. In their minds, the head disciple of Flawless Palace was definitely not supposed to be like this.

’To become the head disciple of Flawless Palace, the sixth greatest Demon Fiend of the Eastern Domain, one surely wouldn’t be someone who indulges in wine and women, let alone an outright lecher like Lin Yun is showing himself to be.’

’Becoming a true powerhouse requires a superior intellect, unwavering conviction, and the spirit to endure any hardship. But judging by Lin Yun’s performance now, he possesses none of those qualities.’

”This is the head disciple of Flawless Palace? He looks more like some family’s spoiled brat to me.”

”Keep your voice down! If anyone hears you, we’re done for.”

”Sigh, why would Flawless Palace choose someone like him as the head disciple? I’m starting to think Palace Master Luo’s judgment is failing in his old age.”

”It’s only human to be tempted by power, lust, fame, and fortune. Perhaps Young Master Lin is just momentarily overwhelmed by it all.”

A number of patriarchs began to whisper amongst themselves. They had found it strange from the beginning, when Bai Ling told them Lin Yun was coming to Wind City and that the Bai Family was to prepare a grand welcome banquet.

Now, seeing him act this way, it all made sense. Of course, a lecher who loves to show off and indulge in debauchery would demand such a reception. It was perfectly normal for someone like that.

Lin Yun paid no mind to their discussions. With his level of power, he heard every word they said, but he felt no anger at all. Instead, he sneered inwardly. ’This is exactly the effect I was hoping for.’

As the dance number concluded, Lin Yun deliberately pointed to the most beautiful of the dancers. ”You. Come sit next to me.”

Hearing Lin Yun’s command, the dancer looked helplessly toward Bai Ling. Seeing this, Bai Ling said impassively, ”Since Young Master Lin has asked you to, you should go.”

Hearing Bai Ling’s words, the young woman could only nod in assent. She nervously approached and sat down beside Lin Yun.

The moment the young woman sat down, Lin Yun threw an arm around her, his whole body leaning into hers.

Suddenly pulled into Lin Yun’s forceful embrace, the young woman started to struggle, but then she heard his voice whisper in her ear, ”Don’t move.”

The sound of his deep, magnetic voice made her body go rigid. Her struggling ceased instantly, and a crimson blush crept up her cheeks.

”Haha! Come, it’s a rare occasion for us all to be together. Let’s drink to our heart’s content!” Lin Yun boomed to the crowd, one arm wrapped around the beautiful dancer.

Seeing this, some of the patriarchs shook their heads in secret, some grumbled in dissatisfaction, and others gave a cold sneer. In short, Lin Yun’s behavior was worlds apart from what they had imagined.

In their eyes, Lin Yun was nothing more than a hedonistic young master who only knew how to play. Some even began to suspect that his title as the head disciple of Flawless Palace was a sham, fabricated by Luo Feng to artificially build his reputation.

Otherwise, if someone like him could become the head disciple of Flawless Palace and the sixth greatest Demon Fiend of the Eastern Domain, then what justice was there in the world?
