Chapter 489: Chapter 489: Drinking and Killing (Part 2)

Lin Yun’s performance had greatly disappointed the patriarchs of Wind City’s various major families. How could such a person be the idol of the hundred thousand disciples of Flawless Palace?

Paying no mind to their changing expressions, Lin Yun continued to drink his wine, occasionally flirting with the beauty in his arms.

At first, the dancer had found Lin Yun a bit frivolous. But as he held her, the young woman found herself, for reasons she couldn’t quite explain, not at all repulsed by his actions.

A blush remained on her cheeks, but Lin Yun didn’t notice it at all. Ever since before the banquet began, his eyes had been secretly observing two people in the corner.

One was an old man, the other a middle-aged man. They were the patriarchs of the Cai and Qi Families. The old man was Patriarch Cai, and the middle-aged man was Patriarch Qi.

Although the old man had a head of white hair, he seemed full of spirit. As for the middle-aged man, one look was enough to tell he was a reckless brute, courageous but lacking strategy. His tall, sturdy build, dark skin, and thick brows over large eyes all pointed to his impetuous nature.

At that moment, the two had no idea Lin Yun was watching them. They were currently drinking the wine in their cups with looks of anger.

”I thought Flawless Palace had finally produced a Demon Fiend, that from now on we wouldn’t be bullied by other powers. Who knew that upon meeting him today, he’d turn out to be this kind of person?” the Qi Family Patriarch said with extreme dissatisfaction, taking a large gulp of wine.

”What can be done? And don’t be so loud. It wouldn’t be good if someone overheard,” Patriarch Cai advised.

”What? He has the guts to do it, but I’m not allowed to talk about it? So what if I’m loud?” Hearing Patriarch Cai’s advice, the Qi Family Patriarch, far from quieting down, grew even louder.

As soon as the Qi Family Patriarch spoke, many people nearby heard him. At this, a slender man turned to Patriarch Qi and shouted, ”Patriarch Qi, what is the meaning of this? Though this is my first time meeting Young Master Lin, as a family affiliated with Flawless Palace, isn’t it out of line for you to speak of the Flawless Palace’s Master Disciple this way?”

The man’s voice was very loud. Not only did the people below hear it, but even Lin Yun, sitting in the seat of honor, heard it crystal clear.

In fact, Lin Yun had clearly heard not only this man’s words, but also those of Patriarch Qi and Patriarch Cai.

”Patriarch Wu, I’ll say what I want. What business is it of yours?” Scolded by Patriarch Wu, Patriarch Qi looked very displeased. The two had never seen eye to eye and often clashed. The Wu Family’s suppression of the Qi Family was nothing new.

The two were about to start a full-blown argument when Lin Yun, who was feigning drunkenness, suddenly shouted, ”What do you think you’re doing? Why are you arguing at a perfectly good banquet?”

Hearing Lin Yun’s rebuke, Patriarch Wu immediately stood up, came before Lin Yun, and bowed respectfully. ”Young Master Lin, this Patriarch Qi is insolent and was deliberately slandering you. This humble one heard him and thus reprimanded him.”

Patriarch Wu’s personality was clearly that of a sinister and venomous man. As for Patriarch Qi, everyone in Wind City knew he was single-minded; once he set his mind on something, ten bulls couldn’t drag him back.

It was precisely because of this personality that, to be honest, his loyalty to Flawless Palace was beyond doubt. The reason the Qi Family hadn’t developed over the years was entirely due to their patriarch’s disposition.

Patriarch Qi’s character was straightforward and frank; he never beat around the bush. Because of this, he didn’t have many friends in Wind City. If one were to speak of a true friend, it would probably only be Patriarch Cai.

Hearing Patriarch Wu tattling to Lin Yun, Patriarch Qi immediately stood and shouted, ”Was I wrong? As the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace, you indulge in wine and women. Is this how the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace is supposed to act?”

Patriarch Qi showed no regard for Lin Yun’s pride, shouting directly at him. Beside him, Patriarch Cai kept tugging at his clothes, signaling for him to calm down.

Hearing Patriarch Qi’s words, a cold smirk appeared on Patriarch Wu’s face. ’Based on how Young Master Lin has been acting,’ he thought, ’he’s certainly not a magnanimous person. Speaking like this, Patriarch Qi is simply courting death.’

Sure enough, upon hearing Patriarch Qi’s words, Lin Yun’s expression darkened. He looked at Patriarch Qi and asked, ”You think I am unworthy of being the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace?”

”Was I wrong?” Patriarch Qi retorted. ”As the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace, you indulge in wine and women. How can someone like you be an idol to the hundred thousand disciples of Flawless Palace? How can you win the sincere admiration of us affiliated powers?”

This Patriarch Qi was truly an unyielding man, showing no fear in the face of Lin Yun’s status. But just as his voice fell, Lin Yun’s next words stunned everyone present.

”Guards! Drag this man out and kill him. I don’t want to see him in Wind City ever again.”

For a single disrespectful remark, Lin Yun was actually going to kill Patriarch Qi. What surprised the crowd even more was that, following Lin Yun’s shout, Shi Wu entered with two guards from the Bai Family and, without a word, moved to drag Patriarch Qi away.

Seeing this, Patriarch Cai quickly rose and came before Lin Yun. He first performed a bow, but then looked at Lin Yun with anger brewing in his eyes and spoke bluntly.

”Young Master Lin, are you really going to kill him just for Brother Qi’s one disrespectful remark?”

”What? You want to save him?” Lin Yun replied with a cold laugh upon hearing Patriarch Cai’s words.

”Young Master Lin, I truly never imagined that the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace could be so petty. Not only obsessed with wine and women, but also narrow-minded. This old man truly never expected this.”

Hearing Patriarch Cai’s words, Lin Yun snorted coldly again. ”Since you want to die too, fine. Drag this man out and kill him as well.”

Immediately, Patriarch Cai and Patriarch Qi were both dragged out of the main hall by Shi Wu and the Bai Family guards. As they were being pulled away, they both cursed loudly, shouting that Lin Yun was utterly unworthy of being the Master Disciple of Flawless Palace.

During this, a few people pleaded with Bai Ling for mercy, but facing their pleas, Bai Ling had only one response: ”These are Young Master Lin’s orders. I can only follow them.”

Patriarch Qi and Patriarch Cai were dragged out to be killed. Some felt an indignant sense of injustice, some felt that villains were in power, and others sneered secretly.

Lin Yun took note of every single person who sneered, though he didn’t know what they were sneering about.

With Patriarch Qi and Patriarch Cai executed one after the other, some of the family patriarchs lost their appetite for the banquet and had no desire to stay any longer. Perhaps in their hearts, they thought Lin Yun was nothing but a hedonistic disciple, unable to distinguish right from wrong, and narrow-minded. A person like that was a disappointment.

One after another, people began to leave. In the end, only half of the hundred or so guests remained. Among them, Patriarch Wu seemed quite pleased, frequently toasting Lin Yun. ℯℯ𝘭.

The banquet didn’t end until late at night, with the patriarchs of the various families finally leaving one by one. By this time, Lin Yun appeared to be dead drunk.
