Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Getting Rich Overnight

For two straight days, Lin Yun stayed cooped up in the inn. Broke as he was, there was nothing for him to buy even if he went out, so he decided to just cultivate peacefully in his room. Tomorrow was the day the Blood Refining Ancestor was set to make his move.

During those two days, the Monk and Daoist duo had come looking for him once. They used the same old tricks, but since Lin Yun was completely broke, the pair quickly lost interest in him once they found out.

Lin Yun hadn’t had much money to begin with when he escaped from the Yunlu Mountain Range. Now, after paying for a month’s lodging at the inn, he was flat broke.

Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Lin Yun listened to the sounds from outside and knew those two oddballs were drinking again. ’Someone else must have gotten scammed today,’ he thought.

Slowly opening his eyes, Lin Yun pondered ways to make money. ’Sigh... I’m broke. I have to figure something out, or I won’t even be able to afford the inn.’

Suddenly, a glint flashed in Lin Yun’s eyes as a plan began to form in his mind. If it succeeded, not only would he make a fortune, but he wouldn’t have to feel guilty about it.

He crept to the door and peeked through the crack. In the courtyard, the Monk and the Daoist were still drinking. ’They must have had a good haul today,’ he noted, since they had two more women with them. The two men were living it up, each with a woman on his arm.

”Master, you said you were going to give me a gift today,” a beautiful woman in the Monk’s arms purred.

Hearing this, the Monk began to grope her with a lecherous look on his face. ”Amitabha,” he said. ”A monk never lies. Since I made a promise to you, my dear benefactor, I will certainly keep it.”

With that, the Monk took a golden chain from his waist and handed it to the woman. Upon seeing the chain, her face lit up. Flushed with delight, she took it and planted a firm kiss on the Monk.

”Monk, I’m heading back to my room,” the Daoist at his side announced, standing up. He then led his two female companions toward his room.

Seeing this, the Monk sighed dramatically. ”Amitabha. If I do not enter Hell, who will?”

With that, the Monk laughed heartily and led his two women into his room as well.

Lin Yun, who had been watching the whole time, knew exactly what they were up to. His understanding of their shamelessness reached a new level. ’What a damn pair of characters. I’d really love to see which temple managed to produce specimens like these.’

’What kind of temple in this world could possibly cultivate such masterpieces?’

Lin Yun didn’t act immediately. His plan was to wait for the cover of night and steal the Monk and Daoist’s wealth. ’They spend their days scamming and swindling, so they must have a lot of Gold Coins and Primordial Stones,’ he reasoned. Robbing them didn’t trouble his conscience in the slightest; after all, the two were rotten to the core.

After dinner, Lin Yun waited patiently. It wasn’t until midnight that he quietly slipped out of his room and crept to the Daoist’s door.

He didn’t rush in. He first made sure that all three occupants were sound asleep before quietly pushing the door open and tiptoeing inside.

’Unbelievable...’ he thought. Upon entering, Lin Yun was greeted by the sight of three pale, naked bodies. The entire room reeked of alcohol, a testament to how wild their revelry had been.

Ignoring the trio, Lin Yun began to search for the Daoist’s clothes.

’That’s strange. How is there nothing?’ The Daoist’s clothes were empty; Lin Yun hadn’t found a thing. ’It makes no sense. These two run scams every day; it’s impossible for them not to have even a single Gold Coin.’

He started searching the room again. Finally, his gaze fell on the Daoist’s right hand, where he saw a ring on his finger.

’This is... a Space Ring! I’ve struck it rich! I’ve really struck it rich!’ Overjoyed, Lin Yun silently moved to the Daoist’s side and knocked him out with a sudden chop. The poor Daoist was knocked unconscious right in the middle of his dream.

Effortlessly removing the Space Ring from the Daoist’s hand, Lin Yun slipped out of the room as stealthily as he had entered.

Repeating the same tactic, Lin Yun entered the Monk’s room. The scene inside was even more revolting than the Daoist’s. The Monk’s obese body was completely naked, and an extremely lewd smile was plastered on his face. He was probably dreaming of something outrageous.

’This wicked monk... He doesn’t resemble a monk in any way,’ Lin Yun thought with contempt. Having learned from the first room, he immediately looked at the Monk’s hand. Just as he’d expected, there was another Space Ring.

’This is a real jackpot.’ he thought. ’Setting aside whatever might be inside, the two Space Rings themselves are worth at least a hundred Low Grade Primordial Stones.’

However, this also made him realize that the Monk and Daoist couldn’t be ordinary people. After all, they were only at the Sixth Layer of the Opening Realm, yet they possessed something like a Space Ring. This suggested that the organization behind them was incredibly powerful.

Even among the students of Yanhuang Academy, very few owned a Space Ring.

Just as before, he knocked out the Monk in an instant. Having stealthily acquired both of their Space Rings, Lin Yun returned directly to his room.

The heist had gone smoothly; no one knew Lin Yun had entered either of their rooms. Now, sitting on his bed, Lin Yun sent his Soul Thought probing into the Space Rings. Thanks to his cultivation of both the War God Technique and the Demon Emperor Technique, he easily erased the imprints on the two rings.

With the imprints gone, the Monk and the Daoist could no longer sense the Space Rings’ existence. At the same time, their contents were laid bare before Lin Yun.

”Holy shit, are these two guys illegitimate sons of the Royal Family or something?” Lin Yun swore aloud as he saw the Space Rings packed to the brim with Gold Coins and Primordial Stones.

There were tens of thousands of Gold Coins, thousands of Broken Primordial Stones, and even several hundred Low Grade Primordial Stones. Lin Yun was ecstatic over such a massive fortune.

’Huh? What’s this?’ While taking stock of the Primordial Stones, Lin Yun noticed a Secret Manual tucked away in a corner of the Space Ring.

With a thought, the yellowed Secret Manual appeared in his hand. Looking at the ancient characters on the cover, ”excited” was no longer a strong enough word to describe how he felt. This was an unbelievable stroke of luck.

The two ancient words on the Secret Manual’s cover read: ”Inch Step.” He flipped to the first page and nearly lost his mind. ’An Earth Level Superior Grade Body Technique Martial Skill! I’ve hit the jackpot! I’ve really hit the jackpot!’

Forcing himself to calm down, Lin Yun sent his Soul Thought probing into the Daoist’s Space Ring. Just as before, he found another Secret Manual.

’Qingfeng Body Technique...’ Two Body Technique Martial Skills, and now they were both his. ’These must be the Body Techniques the Monk and Daoist were using,’ he figured.

He was rich. So rich. Lin Yun had become a tycoon overnight. Tens of thousands of Gold Coins, thousands of Broken Primordial Stones, hundreds of Low Grade Primordial Stones, and on top of all that, two Earth Level Superior Grade Body Technique Martial Skills. Lin Yun felt like he had truly won the lottery.

While Lin Yun was too excited to sleep, furious roars erupted from the Monk’s and the Daoist’s rooms the next morning.

”Who was it?! Who stole my things?!...”
