Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Great Shock

The two Primordial Ocean Realm experts were full of confidence. In their eyes, the surrounded Lin Yun had absolutely no chance of escape. They just had to wait for the army from Iron Gate Pass to arrive, and finding him would be all too easy.

Meanwhile, inside Iron Gate Pass, within the Lin Mansion, Lin Xiaotian, Guan Xing, Lu Bingning, Lu Tao, and Guan Renjie were all present.

”You’re saying Yun’Er went back into the Yunlu Mountain Range?” Lin Xiaotian asked with a frown.

Hearing this, the three of them nodded and proceeded to explain the details of the situation to Lin Xiaotian.

”General, could the one who walked the Path of No Return really be Yun’Er?” Guan Xing asked worriedly after hearing the story. He already knew that Guan Renjie had tried to kill Lin Yun. In fact, Guan Renjie’s currently swollen, pig-like head was Guan Xing’s own masterpiece, and because of this, Guan Xing was now overcome with guilt.

Lin Xiaotian’s brow was deeply furrowed, and he remained silent. If it really was Yun’Er, the trouble would be immense. Even he probably couldn’t protect him; after all, Lin Xiaotian did not yet have the power to single-handedly defy the entire Yanhuang Academy.

”Xiaotian, what do we do? What if it’s really Yun’Er?” a tear-stricken Zhang Jingxiang sobbed from the side. This time, he was truly in grave danger.

Distraught, Zhang Jingxiang couldn’t stop crying. Everything now depended on Lin Xiaotian’s decision. However, everyone present felt that Lin Yun’s chances of survival were exceptionally slim.

The inheritance of the Thunder God Hall was an irresistible temptation. There was no way the two major powers would let Lin Yun go.

After a long silence, Lin Xiaotian finally spoke, his voice heavy. ”Deploy the troops. We’ll do what we can and leave the rest to fate. If this calamity is truly part of Yun’Er’s destiny, then my Lin Family will risk everything to protect him.”

With Lin Xiaotian’s decision made, Guan Xing immediately led ten thousand soldiers toward the Yunlu Mountain Range.

The army of Iron Gate Pass marched out of the city, heading straight for the Yunlu Mountain Range. At the same time, the heavily surrounded Lin Yun also decided to take a gamble. ’It’s death either way, so I might as well fight for this one sliver of hope.’

He walked out openly, now dressed in the clothes of that Yanhuang Academy disciple.

Instead of heading toward the Yanhuang Academy’s position, Lin Yun walked over to where the Wind Forest Sect disciples were gathered. Seeing him strutting over, the Wind Forest Sect disciples mistook him for someone from Yanhuang Academy.

No one had gotten a clear look at Lin Yun’s face, but he was extremely nervous. ’After all, if I’m discovered, I’m dead for sure.’

”Hey, what’s someone from Yanhuang Academy doing over here with our Wind Forest Sect?” a Wind Forest Sect disciple asked as Lin Yun approached.

Hearing this, Lin Yun put on an arrogant display and replied with contempt, ”None of your business. I’m under orders to patrol this area. Is there a problem?”

’Patrolling under orders?’ Hearing Lin Yun’s words, the Wind Forest Sect disciples fumed. This was a clear sign of distrust in their Wind Forest Sect, sending someone over to inspect their work.

”Hmph. Fine. Third Junior Brother, you go and ’patrol’ the Yanhuang Academy’s area as well,” one of the Wind Forest Sect disciples said with a cold snort. ℴ

Although the two major powers were currently cooperating, it was impossible for there to be no friction between them, and Lin Yun was exploiting precisely that.

The Wind Forest Sect disciple called Third Junior Brother shot Lin Yun a cold glare before heading toward the Yanhuang Academy’s position in a clear show of defiance.

’It’s working...’ Seeing the Wind Forest Sect disciples take the bait, Lin Yun rejoiced inwardly. However, his expression remained unchanged as he unhurriedly walked past them.

”Hey, where are you going?” a Wind Forest Sect disciple shouted as he saw Lin Yun walk past the encirclement.

”Mind your own business. Do I have to report to you when I need to take a piss?” Lin Yun retorted arrogantly.

”Hmph, those guys from Yanhuang Academy are so damn cocky. Just wait until the next grand competition, I’ll beat them until they’re on their knees begging for mercy,” the Wind Forest Sect disciple cursed. But no one stopped Lin Yun, and he easily slipped through the two powers’ encirclement.

”Sent someone to patrol your area?” Not long after Lin Yun escaped the encirclement, the Wind Forest Sect disciple arrived at the Yanhuang Academy’s location. After a brief argument, he described the scene with Lin Yun.

Hearing this, the people from Yanhuang Academy were puzzled. They hadn’t sent anyone to patrol. ’Where did this person come from?’

”Oh no, it’s that kid!” Zhang Qingtian suddenly shouted, instantly realizing that the person might have been Lin Yun in disguise.

The two major powers reacted, but by then, there was no trace of Lin Yun. The Yunlu Mountain Range was vast, and having escaped the encirclement, Lin Yun was like a fish returned to the sea—completely gone.

”Damn it, are you people from the Wind Forest Sect all pigs? How could you be fooled by that kid?” With Lin Yun’s escape, the two powers flew into a rage.

”How dare you call us from the Wind Forest Sect pigs? If you want to blame someone, blame your own Yanhuang Academy people for being too weak, getting killed by a mere First Layer Opening Realm kid,” the Wind Forest Sect members retorted.

The two sides began to argue, but soon after, the Iron Gate Pass army arrived at the Yunlu Mountain Range, led by Guan Xing.

For three full days, a massive, large-scale search went on, but there was still no trace of Lin Yun. During this period, Iron Gate Pass deployed nearly one hundred thousand people, who practically turned the Yunlu Mountain Range upside down. They searched almost everywhere except for the deepest parts of the range.

”Still nothing?” The middle-aged man and the beautiful woman waited at Iron Gate Pass, their brows furrowing slightly as they listened to the reports trickle in.

With Lin Yun nowhere to be found in the Yunlu Mountain Range, Yanhuang Academy and the Wind Forest Sect issued orders for an all-out search within the borders of both kingdoms. At the same time, based on the description from the Wind Forest Sect disciples, a portrait of Lin Yun was drawn, and his identity could naturally no longer be hidden.

Lin Yun, son of Lin Xiaotian, has obtained the inheritance of the Thunder God Hall. This explosive piece of news spread throughout the entire Yanhuang Country and Nan Feng Kingdom within a single week. Lin Yun instantly became a celebrity in both nations.

At the same time, portraits of Lin Yun were posted in cities large and small across the Yanhuang Country and Nan Feng Kingdom. A reward of Primordial Stones was offered for any information regarding his whereabouts.

For a time, the hunt for Lin Yun became the most talked-about topic among countless Martial Artists.

Because Lin Yun was Lin Xiaotian’s son, even though Lin Xiaotian was one of the few top experts in the Yanhuang Country and one of its three Grand Generals, he was not spared from the fallout due to the gravity of the situation.

Stripped of his position as Grand General, Lin Xiaotian and his family were recalled to the Capital City of the Yanhuang Country by the Royal Family. The official pretext was to reward the Grand General for his tireless service by allowing him a period of rest and recuperation in the capital. However, anyone with sense knew that the Royal Family had placed the Lin Family under house arrest. At all times, Martial Artists from the Royal Family secretly monitored their every move.

The two major powers threw their full weight into the effort, and the entire Yanhuang Country and Nan Feng Kingdom were swept up in the search for Lin Yun. However, time slowly passed. A month went by, and despite deploying tens of thousands of Martial Artists and no fewer than a hundred thousand soldiers, there was still no sign of Lin Yun.
