Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Devoid of Humanity

”Tell us, where is Ah Shan?” The Wind Forest Sect Disciples interrogated the villagers one by one.

”Ah Shan isn’t here. He went hunting in the mountains,” a villager replied in terror. But in the next instant, he was met by the longsword in a Wind Forest Sect Disciple’s hand.

Dozens of people were already dead, and the remaining villagers were scared witless. However, the Wind Forest Sect Disciples’ cruelty also stirred the villagers’ fighting spirit. All the children in the village had been slaughtered, leaving the simple folk with no hope for the future. When a person is pushed to the brink, they naturally lose their fear.

”You’re all demons! One day, heaven will punish you!” The old village chief stood up, trembling, and roared at the crowd of Wind Forest Sect Disciples.

”You’re looking to die, old man.” Upon hearing the village chief’s words, a Wind Forest Sect Disciple attacked instantly, a palm strike of Elemental Power shattering the old man’s sternum.

”Chief! Chief!” Seeing the village chief sent flying, the villagers rushed to his side, many of them in tears.

”They’re demons... You can’t... you can’t tell them where Ah Shan is,” the old chief sputtered. With those final words, the life faded from him.

With the old chief dead, the villagers glared at the Wind Forest Sect Disciples, their eyes burning with a deep, unyielding hatred. It was these people who, in less than half an hour, had slaughtered the village’s children and elders.

”I’ll ask you one last time. Where is Ah Shan?” a Wind Forest Sect Disciple asked coldly, paying no mind to the villagers’ stares.

”There is no Ah Shan here! You’re all demons, and heaven won’t forgive you!” The old chief’s death had thoroughly enraged the villagers, and they all roared with hatred.

”Hmph. In that case, you can all go die.” No longer bothering to ask, the group of Wind Forest Sect Disciples took action. The villagers, lacking any Cultivation, were like lambs to the slaughter in their hands.

In less than a quarter of an hour, the dozen or so Wind Forest Sect Disciples had slaughtered the entire small mountain village. Everyone was dead, except for Lan Xi.

’An Extreme Yin Body?’ Lan Xi hadn’t been killed, entirely because of the beautiful woman from Yanhuang Academy. In the presence of this woman, who was at the Primordial Ocean Realm, the Disciples of the Wind Forest Sect instantly became as meek as lambs, not even daring to breathe loudly.

”Little girl, are you willing to take me as your master?” The beautiful woman’s Cultivation was profound. She had seen at a glance that Lan Xi possessed the rare Extreme Yin Body, and the thought of taking her as a disciple immediately crossed her mind.

You might not find one person with an Extreme Yin Body in a million. Although its power wasn’t reflected in one’s own cultivation, it was something every expert dreamed of acquiring.

This was because an Extreme Yin Body could help a man who engaged in dual cultivation with her to rapidly break through his bottlenecks. This fact alone was incredibly perverse.

’Just think, if you could dual cultivate with someone who has an Extreme Yin Body, wouldn’t your cultivation progress at an insane speed?’

”You’re a bad person, too. You’re with them,” Lan Xi said, her face cold and tear-streaked upon hearing the beautiful woman’s words.

Hearing Lan Xi’s words, the beautiful woman wasn’t angered. Instead, she smiled and asked, ”Do you want revenge?”

In response, Lan Xi nodded heavily.

”Good. Remember their faces clearly. Take me as your master, and I will teach you supreme Martial Arts. Then, you will have the power to seek revenge against them.” The beautiful woman wore a faint smile as she spoke, her expression completely unreadable.

Hearing this, Lan Xi, desperate for revenge, stared intently at the Wind Forest Sect Disciples, memorizing their faces. She then said to the beautiful woman with cold indifference, ”I can take you as my master, but you have to kill him first.”

As she spoke, Lan Xi pointed her finger at the Wind Forest Sect Disciple who had just struck the old village chief dead.

Seeing Lan Xi point at him, the man’s heart went cold. If the beautiful woman were to strike now, he would have no way to fight back.

Sure enough, upon hearing Lan Xi’s request, the beautiful woman smiled faintly and said slowly, ”So be it. We’ll consider it a welcoming gift for us as master and disciple.”

Before her words had even faded, and before the Wind Forest Sect Disciple could react, the beautiful woman lightly pointed a finger. A ray of Elemental Power shot out, instantly piercing the Disciple’s head.

After killing the Wind Forest Sect Disciple, the beautiful woman’s expression didn’t change in the slightest, as if she had just disposed of a stray dog.

”Let’s go. Return with me to Yanhuang Academy.” Grabbing Lan Xi’s clothing, the beautiful woman turned into a streak of light and left via Sky Control.

With events concluded, the Wind Forest Sect Disciples didn’t dare to stay. The beautiful woman was far too terrifying, and they had been utterly powerless in her presence.

Everyone left, leaving only a field of corpses behind. The once peaceful and serene mountain village had become a sea of blood. Not a single person remained alive.

「Half an hour later.」

Lin Yun returned to the mountain village, carrying a wild boar on his shoulders. But the scene that met his eyes left him utterly frozen. The boar dropped to the ground, unnoticed by Lin Yun, as he walked step by step toward the village entrance.

At the village entrance lay corpse after corpse, all of them villagers. Though they were dead, their faces were all frozen in expressions of terror and hatred.

Reaching the entrance, Lin Yun stared at the bodies, his own face contorting. These villagers were all dead, killed at the hands of Martial Artists.

Walking through the village, Lin Yun finally reached the old chief’s side. Looking at the chief, who had died with his eyes open, Lin Yun knelt and gently closed them.

”No matter who did this, I swear to the heavens and the earth, I, Lin Yun, will make you pay this blood debt with your own blood!” With a furious roar, Lin Yun’s eyes turned crimson, and terrifying torrents of blood-red Elemental Power burst forth from his body.

Completely enraged, Lin Yun spotted the corpse of the Wind Forest Sect Disciple to the side. Without a second thought, he unleashed his Tiger Roar Fist and violently smashed the body to pieces.

The blood-red sunset shone down on the mountain village, a lonely and desolate scene. On the small hill behind the village, rows of grave mounds had been erected. This was Lin Yun’s work, of course; he had buried all the villagers’ bodies, one by one.

Lin Yun kowtowed three times before each grave mound. The moment he saw the body of the Wind Forest Sect Disciple, he knew that he was the one who had brought this disaster upon them.

”I have failed you all. I, Lin Yun, swear to the heavens: in this life, I will annihilate the Wind Forest Sect.” Facing the hundreds of grave mounds, Lin Yun swore a solemn oath.

His forehead was scraped and bleeding from kowtowing, but Lin Yun didn’t linger in the mountain village. His mind was now consumed by a single thought: revenge. These villagers had been so simple, so pure. He never thought that in the end, he would be the one to bring them harm.

They could have lived their lives without a care in the world, but it was all because of him...

Lin Yun was filled with hatred—hatred for himself. He was the one who had brought this calamity upon them. But the one thing that ignited a spark of hope in him was that Lan Xi’s body was not among the dead in the village.

’That means, at the very least, that Lan Xi might still be alive.’

”Wait for me, Lan Xi. No matter where you are, I will find you.” Reaching the top of the hill, Lin Yun unearthed his Overlord Spear from the ground. He turned to look back at the mountain village, now completely devoid of life.

In that moment, Lin Yun’s desire for strength was stronger than it had ever been.
