Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 856: Chapter 428: Long Time No See (Second Update)

The gunman said hoarsely, ”I don’t know if I can use the gun. I’m a hitman; people give me money, and I do as they say. If you’re looking for trouble, go find her!”

”You dare to argue with me?! You make money as long as people pay you; are you tired of living?!” Secretary Liu burst with anger, ”How long have you been in Chinatown? You’re pretending not to know?”

Someone beside him reminded Secretary Liu, ”He just arrived not long ago; he used to operate in Europe.”

Secretary Liu snorted, ”Is being in Europe something great? Wherever you are, you need to understand local rules!”

Evan Stetford cleared his throat softly at this point, saying, ”State your business.”

Secretary Liu quickly changed his tone, ”You say someone bribed you, where’s the evidence?”

”My words are the evidence!” The hitman smacked his chest proudly and said, ”I’ve been roaming the world for so many years as Jacob Bear, no one has ever asked me for evidence!”

Evan Stetford chuckled softly at this moment, stood up from behind the desk, and said, ”Hmm, who’s bribing you to kill?”

”Noah Wen.” The hitman mentioned the English name concocted by Lawrence Winters.

Surname Wen?!

Evan Stetford’s pupils contracted sharply; his heart started pounding fiercely, blood coursing noisily through his veins, his hand trembling slightly behind his back.

Could it be... Lawrence Winters!

He knew what her family was involved in, and her own talents...

She’s here too.

Is it a coincidence?

Evan Stetford worked hard to control his emotions, but when he spoke, his voice dropped inexplicably by eight degrees, ”How did you know her? Where did she pay you? How much did she give you? Which bank account was it stored in?”

The hitman said indifferently, ”I got to know her through an introduction; people in our line of work have our own circle. She didn’t give me money; she slept with me. Killing is the price of that one-night stand.”

Evan Stetford: ”...”

His eyes narrowed spitefully, ”So, where is this Noah Wen now?”

”She moved into our Stetford Family’s Half Moon Hotel,” Secretary Liu quickly said.

”Send me her check-in information.” Evan Stetford returned to his desk and opened his computer.

Half a minute later, Lawrence Winters’ passport copy lay quietly in Evan Stetford’s inbox.

He looked at her smiling face, his heart surging tumultuously; truly, a case of ’What you seek is hard to find, but what you don’t seek lands effortlessly in your lap.’

He smiled and stood up, ”Hmm, I want to meet this ’authoritarian’ Female Wizard.”

The hitman chuckled, said, ”... This woman’s skills in bed...”

Evan Stetford walked over with a smile on his face, and as he passed the hitman, suddenly elbowed him hard in the face, coldly saying, ”Beat him! Beat him till he’s infertile!”

A group of thugs immediately rushed over, dragged the hitman into another special room, and began their work.

Another secretary immediately handed him a disinfectant wipe.

Evan Stetford wiped his hands and casually disposed of the wet wipe into the trash bin by the door, then strode out.

A convoy of vehicles gallantly arrived at the street where Half Moon Hotel in Chinatown was located.

The vehicles of the convoy all bore the family emblem of the Stetford Family, a coiled dragon perched on the back of a soaring eagle.

People on the street who saw this emblem backed away in the distance; it was more effective than police cars.

Having arrived at Half Moon Hotel, Evan Stetford, impatient and unwilling to wait for security to hold an umbrella for him, pushed open the car door and went out.

He quickly walked into Half Moon Hotel, where many members of the Grant Branch were waiting in the downstairs lobby.

When they saw Evan Stetford enter surrounded by others, these people froze for a moment.

Evan Stetford had just returned home not long ago, and few had seen him.

Only a few upper-level members of the Grant Branch were familiar with him; hence, many of the minions waiting on the first floor did not recognize him.

Only the manager John Warren had seen his photo on the website.

Now recalling it, his eyes lit up, and he stepped forward to bow, saying, ”Is it Young Master Stetford? I am John Warren, manager of the Grant Branch’s Chinatown office. We didn’t expect you to personally step in for such a small matter; the person is still upstairs, but your people won’t allow us to go up. You see...”

Evan Stetford ignored him, heading directly to the elevator.

Secretary Liu knew his intent; when still at the Stetford Holdings Headquarters Tower, he had called the hotel here to have them prepare a key card.

At the Stetford Family’s hotel, the safety of those staying there is absolutely assured; it is not like a roadside motel where any random person can rush inside.

John Warren tried to follow upstairs but was stopped by the hotel’s security personnel.

John Warren couldn’t help but ask, ”How come they can go up?”

”... He’s the boss, and what are you?” The security personnel glanced at him and shut him up with a single sentence.

Evan Stetford stopped in front of Lawrence Winters’ room and reached out to press the doorbell.

Lawrence Winters had a good night’s sleep and was just pondering whether to go down for some food.

Hearing the doorbell, she walked over and looked out through the peephole.

Standing outside her door was Evan Stetford?!

It’s her family member, Blue Puppy!

Lawrence Winters was delighted, just about to open the door, when she saw through the peephole a lot of other people.

Each one was strong and appeared to be bodyguards surrounding Evan Stetford.

Lawrence Winters’ sanity returned instantly.

Blue Puppy’s identity had changed; he had returned home to inherit a billion-dollar family estate...

Lawrence Winters steadied herself, opened the door, and said flatly, ”Young Master Stetford, long time no see.”
