Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 794: Chapter 405: Very Good, Very Powerful (Second Update)

Francis Johnson used all of his hacking programs to find this software on an obscure foreign platform.

After downloading it, he quickly cracked it and saw all of the opponent’s source code.

He scanned it line by line, used analysis software for comparison, and sighed, lifting his head to look at Kenneth Osborne, then at Lydia Graham.

”Unfortunately, the other party does have this segment of code, and judging from the time, it was indeed written over thirty years ago.”

”Kenneth is really at a disadvantage in this regard.”

”It’s just like plagiarism, an identical passage, if the other party wrote it first, and you wrote it later, based on the time, it means you plagiarized them.”

”Code is the same, it has copyright.”

Lydia Graham also found it troubling, ”That means, even if they can’t sue him for illegal use of the patent, they can still sue him for copyright infringement.”

”The other party didn’t authorize him to use it; since he used it without permission, the infringement stands.”

”Considering the large punitive damages favored abroad, Kenneth is likely to lose on the infringement front.”

She shook her head ruefully, ”I’m just discussing this from a legal perspective. There is still ample room for maneuver in specific operations...”

Kenneth Osborne became agitated, his eyes slightly reddened, like a blooming peach blossom on an early spring branch.

He pressed his lips together and said in a deep voice, ”But I really didn’t plagiarize or use their software code. I truly didn’t even know this segment of code existed in the world.”

”I believe you.” Francis Johnson gave a bitter smile, ”Even I didn’t know. If I hadn’t seen the opponent’s materials and used this special code to search, I would never have dreamed that thirty years ago, foreign AI had developed to this extent.”

When it comes to artificial intelligence, Kenneth Osborne is an expert.

He immediately retorted, ”No, the development of AI abroad is not more impressive than ours. Because the main aspect of AI is application. Without application, AI simply cannot play any role.”

Lydia Graham nodded approvingly, ”Yes, I think so too. For example, look at this foreign software program; even though it appeared over thirty years ago, it hasn’t appeared in any AI application software abroad—until Kenneth released his special effects production application software.”

Francis Johnson clapped his hands and said loudly, ”The opponent’s AI code is basic language code, meaning it’s a tool, with which more refined and efficient things can be made.”

”But due to patent protection, no one used this software, and naturally, it wasn’t promoted. However, this doesn’t serve as evidence to prove Kenneth didn’t use this segment of code.”

Lydia Graham tapped her temple thoughtfully, ”The hardest part of this case to argue is that in a patented software code with special copyright licenses from thirty years ago, there appears to be a segment exactly identical to that in Kenneth Osborne’s released application program.”

”To give an analogy, it’s like a novel published thirty years later containing language identical to that in a novel published thirty years prior, and the word count just meets the plagiarism standard.”

”In such a situation, a judge would certainly rule that the later novel plagiarized the earlier one. It’s the principle of time determination.”

Kenneth Osborne felt his heart sink uncontrollably, feeling both helpless and despondent.

He could only repeat, ”But I didn’t use their code, so how can it be counted as my infringement and plagiarism?”

Francis Johnson consoled him, ”The hustle and bustle of the world is all for profit. It’s all about interests; you’re in the limelight now, and so many foreign companies are looking for you to do post-production, involving so much economic interest? You’ve stirred up someone’s business, so of course they’ll come after you.”

Lydia Graham added, ”It’s not just about a source of income. Your AI software marks a revolutionary overturn in AI applications. Didn’t you see that we all need to revise our legislation in this area?”

”Because it already represents an advanced productivity, foreign countries will certainly aim to crush the country’s companies that represent advanced technology. It’s not just targeting you personally, but all of the country’s technology advantage companies.”

Kenneth Osborne gave a bitter smile, ”I can’t think on such a high level; I just know that accusing me of infringement is an insult to me. Why should I admit to something I haven’t done?”

”I’m willing to believe you, but the law requires evidence.” Lydia Graham sympathized with him, ”But don’t lose heart, there will always be a way.”
