Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 768: Chapter 395: Cleansing the Sect (First Update)

Lawrence Winters instantly thought of the rule mentioned by his grandmaster before he left. What kind of nonsense is this? How come I never heard my master talk about it?

She thought the old Daoist was just making it up.

Could there really be such a rule?

She used all her knowledge from the Celestial Path Sect to ponder, yet still found it impossible.

The hall only echoed with Peter Grant’s powerful voice.

He continued to sneer coldly, ”And there’s one more crucial point.”

He quickly walked over to Ruby Sheldon, and said to Autumn Stetford, ”Mrs. Shen, could you check if there’s anything unclean on Miss Shen?”

”...Unclean?” Autumn Stetford looked at him puzzled, ”Like what?”

”Like talismans, little paper figures, even ashes are possible,” Peter Grant said earnestly, ”These things are lightweight and small, perfect for those with bad intentions.”

Just then, Ruby Sheldon suddenly started convulsing, her limbs bending at unbelievable angles, even spewing black froth from her mouth, thick and sticky, looking truly terrifying.

Someone couldn’t help but scream.

The hall began to descend into chaos.

Autumn Stetford was momentarily stunned, then quickly searched Ruby Sheldon.

Ruby Sheldon was only wearing a dress, without any pockets, and nothing seemed to be out of place.

However, her dress had many appliqués, sewn to look like real flowers, attached from her shoulder to her waist.

Autumn Stetford started examining the appliqués on her shoulder and quickly discovered two talismans hidden among the roses.

The yellow talismans were made to resemble stamens, undetectable without careful inspection.

Then, in the rose ribbons hanging from her waist, she found a small, intricately cut paper figure.

There was a line of text on the paper figure, so small it seemed one would need a magnifying glass to make it out.

But Peter Grant happened to have a small magnifying glass.

He took it out, looked carefully at the paper figure, nodded, and said, ”It matches Miss Shen’s birthdate and time.”

He turned his head to look at Lawrence Winters, accusingly saying, ”Miss Wen’s sect is renowned in the Celestial Master Sect, and since she knew Miss Shen’s birthdate and time, and had grudges against her, how could she let her go?! — That’s point three!”

”So, Miss Wen, oh no, Great Heavenly Master Wen, are you still going to deny it?”

”Isn’t this talisman from your Great Heavenly Master Office?!”

”Isn’t this little paper figure a product of your Great Heavenly Master Office?!”

”As a renowned Great Heavenly Master, don’t you know how to use birthdates to curse others?!”

”Miss Shen merely followed her parents’ advice, finding your intentions dubious, and didn’t want to befriend you. You felt snubbed and resented her, resorting to every means to infiltrate her circle for a precise strike!”

”We are both of the same kind, so don’t ask me for evidence! Miss Wen, I understand those dirty tricks you use, and I’m just shocked that you would go so far as to harm the innocent Miss Shen with such ruthless methods!”

”Do you think the Celestial Master Sect is without people to stop you from having your way and oppressing the good?!”

Peter Grant, in his agitation, almost gestured with his sleeves like in an opera, wanting to command her to reveal her true self with a forceful ’scorn’ sound...

His performance of speaking and gesturing was impressively vivid and full of emotion.

Everyone was dumbfounded.

And after he found all these items, Ruby Sheldon calmed down, no longer convulsing or struggling.

Autumn Stetford, relieved, hugged Ruby Sheldon and began to cry, ”So that’s what it was! Our Betty has been living fine for twenty years, she’s the little lucky star of our family! But ever since she met Miss Wen, she’s been plagued with illnesses, just recently discharged from the hospital.”

She looked up, glaring angrily at Lawrence Winters, and growled, ”...So it was you all along! If you hate us, target me! Target Betty’s father! Don’t harm our Betty! Her health has always been frail; she can’t endure your vicious ways!”

With Autumn Stetford’s words, it immediately solidified Lawrence Winters’ intention to harm Ruby Sheldon.

Initially, most people in the hall were skeptical.

But after Autumn Stetford found the evidence on Ruby Sheldon, many began to doubt Lawrence Winters.

Some even subconsciously took a few steps back, distancing themselves from Lawrence Winters.

As though worrying she might strike them down with a wave of her hand, eager to avoid her at all costs.

Lawrence Winters’ expression remained unchanged, and after Autumn Stetford and Peter Grant finished, she shrugged and coolly said, ”...Is that all?”
