Daddy Always Gets Jealous

The team leader seemed to realize what was going on and stared at Huo Jinnan with wide eyes, his look innocent. It was as if he was asking, why did you chase me out into the yard?

Huo Jinnan looked at the team leader and paused for a moment, ”Uncle Lu, in—”

He glanced again at the first floor, ”The room next to yours can be for the team leader. Keep an eye on it, don’t let it go up to the second floor, and don’t let it—”

The team leader walked over and bit Huo Jinnan’s suit trouser leg, wagging his tail nonstop.

Huo Jinnan looked down at the team leader, ”Just make sure it doesn’t go into the kitchen, and remember to clean up its shedding fur in time. Disinfect the living room morning and night, and don’t let it climb on the sofa and such places.”

The little guy looked at Huo Jinnan discontentedly, ”Why?!”

Huo Jinnan flicked ash off his cigarette, ”The team leader has contracted distemper, so from now on, don’t hold it or touch it.”

The little guy’s eyes widened, having completely forgotten how he used to bully the team leader, ”What? Why treat Dahei like this?”

Huo Jinnan’s tone was firm, ”Either you move downstairs and live with the team leader and never come up to the second floor, or stay away from any place where I and Huanhuan appear.”

”...”

The little guy pursed his lips tightly and looked at Huo Jinnan with dissatisfaction, his chest heaving with emotion! Lately, he and the team leader hadn’t competed with Huo Jinnan for Huanhuan, it was too much — to think that he didn’t want him anymore!

Huo Jinnan looked away and turned to Rong Ma, ”Rong Ma, bring another school bag over.”

Rong Ma responded and quickly went upstairs, soon returning with a new school bag.

Huo Jinnan turned to the still indignant little guy, ”Take the school bag off the team leader.”

”No!”

The little guy stood there, his pair of dark, shiny eyes staring at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan glanced at his watch, ”You have forty minutes, otherwise you’ll have to go to school yourself.”

”...”

Huo Jinnan, how hateful!

The little guy glanced over and still swiftly removed the school bag from the team leader, soothingly patting its head.

Che Huan watched from the side, how could she not know when the team leader had caught distemper?

She frowned and glanced at Huo Jinnan, her gaze falling on the team leader’s aggrieved appearance. Just as she was about to reach out and comfort the team leader with a touch, Huo Jinnan pinched her hand, ”Didn’t I say the team leader has contracted distemper?”

The little guy listened on the side with growing indignation.

Huo Jinnan swept a glance at him, ”Go wash your hands.”

The little guy wanted to say no, but he was afraid that Huo Jinnan wouldn’t drive him to school and that Huanhuan wouldn’t call for him, so he obediently washed his hands and emptied his school bag of books into the new one.

After Huo Jinnan saw that he was done packing, he looked towards Uncle Lu, ”Go start the car.”

Che Huan held the little guy’s hand and turned back to look at the team leader, ”Be good, stay at home, and I’ll buy you something tasty when I come back.”

The team leader looked at Huo Jinnan with a mournful gaze.

Huo Jinnan turned to Rong Ma, ”Remember to give the team leader a bath later, and disinfect the living room.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he followed Che Huan and the little guy out the door.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the kindergarten gate.

The little guy got out of the car and, thinking about how his little friends used to say he had no mother, deliberately messed up his collar, then turned back to look at Che Huan.

Che Huan noticed the little guy’s disheveled collar, ”Come here.”

The little guy glanced at Huo Jinnan standing next to Huanhuan, then walked over to Che Huan.

Che Huan bent down and straightened the little guy’s collar for him.

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette and thought about the little guy’s earlier actions, looking down at him.
