Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Gazing towards the being at the very edge of the small world through his divine sense, Xuan Hao saw what looked like a giant silverback gorilla. Only its size was large enough to make it look like a small mountain, with its fur covered in what looked like some kind of parasitic mushrooms that seemed to have forcibly embedded themselves into the large gorilla. Looking like thousands upon thousands of small eyes that covered every inch of the gorilla’s fur. Making it difficult to associate the towering being with a gorilla demon beast from a first glance. Instead, making it seem more like some unknown thousand eyed demonic entity.

”Hm? Not alive...? ”However, as his divine sense continued to observe this unique demon beast that stood at the very pinnacle of the Land Creation Realm, he suddenly realized that the demon beast itself, the towering silverback gorilla, wasn’t alive. Instead, what he had sensed and originally mistaken for the silverback gorilla were those parasitic mushrooms covering the fur of the mountain sized gorilla.

In other words, the mushrooms were a single entity that had parasitized the body of the silverback gorilla that should be the lord of the devil forest he was searching for.

Only, it was clear from a glance that the original lord of the devil forest had long since perished and fallen under the complete control of those parasitic mushrooms that were now controlling the towering body of the silverback gorilla to violently smash the world barrier in what looked like an attempt to forcibly tear an opening in the world barrier of the small world, something that was far from simple, but definitely something that was possible for that gorilla.

Although it had to be mentioned, the tearing through the world barrier was different from just opening a passage through it to leave the small world. Instead, it was directly destroying this world barrier, something that would result in a direct attack from the will of the small world itself.

However, as he looked closer, he realized that the retaliation from the small world was being completely subverted not by the parasitic mushrooms that were controlling the dead body of the silverback gorilla, but instead the dead body itself.

Looking closer, he realized that the strength of this silverback gorilla wasn’t just at the Peak of the Land Creation Realm when it had been alive, that was the strength of the parasitic mushrooms.

Instead, the strength of the silverback gorilla when it had still been alive had reached the Star Creation Realm... And not just the Early Stage of the Star Creation Realm, but the Middel Stage or maybe even the later stages of the Star Creation Realm. Allowing it to completely resist any attack from the will of the world, as the overall upper limit of this small world was ultimately below the Star Creation Realm.

But this left him somewhat confused. After all, if the lord of the devil forest had been at the Star Creation Realm, there was no way the cultivators from the cultivator alliance would have been able to survive the war that had taken place a few hundred years earlier. Meaning that this parasitic mushroom colony had likely also been in control of the dead silverback gorilla back then.

As for why it had ended up joining the war between the demon beasts and the cultivators from the cultivator alliance? He had no idea, though he guessed it might have something to do with those cultivators from the cultivator alliance interrupting what it was doing or because the cultivators had something useful to its goal of breaking the world barrier.

Taking control of the demon beasts of the devil forest could then be seen as a way for it to keep those cultivators at bay and slowly work towards obtaining whatever it was it desired from the cultivator alliance that he himself didn’t manage to obtain after emptying out their treasury.

After all, though it was just a colony of mushrooms, most things, even a random rock, would gain a certain level of intelligence if they managed to reach the Land Creation Realm, let alone a few mushrooms.

The only question left in his mind outside of what the mushroom colony wanted from the cultivator alliance, was the reason behind these mushrooms seemingly obsessive desire to break the world barrier of the small world. After all, there was reason why a world barrier existed and without it, there was no way to stop the chaotic spatial turbulence outside the world from surging inside and tearing apart everything inside.

Even if it was possible for someone at the Land Creation Realm to survive in the void outside, it wasn’t exactly a good place to live, as a random spatial storm might one day sweep the part of the void one was in and bring about a sudden death.

Then again, interesting as the story behind this mushroom colony manipulating the dead body of a Star Creation Realm demon beast and this small world might be, he didn’t really intend on staying around to find out.

His goal from beginning to end was to get as much value as possible out of the small world before killing the lord of the devil forest to successfully complete the task that had been assigned to him by the tower. Maybe in the future when he was done, he could return to the floor and look through the history of the small world when he had time.

After all, he had a feeling that this twenty eighth floor would be the highest floor he reached before breaking through to the Star Creation Realm. Knowing very well from the fact that the boss of this floor was a being at the Peak of the Land Creation Realm controlling the body of a dead Star Creation Realm demon beast, that the next floor he ended up on would undoubtedly be for the Star Creation Realm.

And strong as he was, he felt doubtful about facing an enemy at the Star Creation Realm. Especially the bosses of the different floors of the tower that far exceeded their given realm.

Even just this colony of mushrooms before him had strength far beyond the Land Creation Realm from what he could sense and added together with the Star Creation Realm demon beast corpse under their control, the combat strength of this mushroom colony had undoubtedly reached the Star Creation Realm...

Rumble~

At the same time Xuan Hao found himself observing the mushroom colony from afar, the mushroom colony also observed him. Sensing a clear threat from him as it continued hammering away at the world barrier using the towering body of the silverback gorilla.

Dangerous as Xuan Hao was, it was also clear that the mushroom colony had no intention of attacking him unless provoked. Seeing no reason to make the first move.

Still, it didn’t mean it would just sit and wait for Xuan Hao to attack it, as the second it had sensed his divine sense sweeping over to examine it, part of the mushroom colony had broken off the back of the silverback gorilla and landed on the ground below where the parasitic mushrooms rooted themselves before rapidly spreading to cover the area a thousand meters around the silverback gorilla.

The originally small mushrooms growing into towering mushrooms more than a hundred meters tall that directly blocked sunlight from above from reaching the ground below. Turning the originally lively forest into a mushroom forest that was rapidly shrouded in a thin purplish red miasma that soon enough spread out to form a natural formation.

In only a few short seconds, the mushroom colony had already established a clear boundary between itself and Xuan Hao. Ensuring that he wouldn’t be able to ambush it in case he ended up attacking.

However, the thing that surprised Xuan Hao the most about this natural formation created by the mushroom colony wasn’t so much the sudden mushroom forest that had emerged. Instead, it was the fact that the area covered by the mushroom forest also had its spatial environment completely twisted and scrambled. Making it impossible for him to rely on his Dao of Space to close the distance between himself and the silverback gorilla where the core of the mushroom colony resided.

Even if he could forcibly stabilize space and force his way through, the second he did that, the mushroom colony would notice and have time to respond accordingly.

From this alone, it was clear that this mushroom colony had already dealt with enemies proficient in the Dao of Space before.

For Xuan Hao who was somewhat used to relying on the Dao of Space, this was a first, but he guessed he should also get used to dealing with enemies who knew how to counter the Dao of Space to some extent, as the higher his cultivation became, the less unique his comprehension of the Dao of Space became, as even if not on the same level as him, others would have also comprehended the Dao of Space.
