Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The Old Sword Saint and The Puppet Master behind the Scenes

”Sword God Sect... Is there someone among them known as the Old Sword Saint?” Ye Yun gazed at Luo Li, smiling softly as he spoke.

”The Old Sword Saint?” Luo Li paused slightly in surprise.

She pondered for a moment, then a look of astonishment spread across her face. She nodded repeatedly and explained, ”Ancestor, indeed there was such a person. However... this Old Sword Saint has been in seclusion for over a hundred years. The Sword God Sect is currently managed by a new Sword Saint.”

Ye Yun then asked, ”What kind of power does the Sword God Sect truly hold?”

Luo Li hurriedly answered, ”Ancestor, the Sword God Sect is the foremost Sect among the top ten powers of the Ancient Moon Dynasty. A century ago, it was overseen by the Old Sword Saint, Ximen Blow Snow. This Ximen Blow Snow possessed astonishing talent, an unparalleled genius hailed as the Ancient Moon Dynasty’s invincible Sword Saint. For several centuries, no one had been his match. However, a hundred years ago, this Old Sword Saint hung up his sword and retreated into the mountains, reportedly for closed-door cultivation intended to break through to the Divine Bridge Realm...”

”I see!” Ye Yun nodded, not particularly disturbed by the information.

The mastermind behind the Dragon God Sect’s persecution was exceptionally cunning, hiding their tracks impeccably and leaving no loopholes. This was evident from that Supreme Elder. This Old Sword Saint was likely just another puppet, with an even greater power manipulating things from the shadows.

Ye Yun was extremely curious.

Who on earth could it be? To be so patient and wicked in dealing with the insignificant Dragon God Sect, relentlessly pursuing them for nearly fifty generations. Whom exactly did the Sect Master of the two hundred and fiftieth generation offend? To provoke such intense hatred, causing this person to torment the Dragon God Sect generation after generation. Instead of granting them a swift end, this person plays a cat-and-mouse game, tormenting the Dragon God Sect ceaselessly. Could they be planning to continue this torment until the three-hundredth generation, completing a span of fifty tortured generations? Such a depraved psyche truly disgusted Ye Yun.

Once he unraveled this scheme and unmasked the puppeteer lurking in the shadows, Ye Yun resolved to seal this person for all eternity, subjecting them to a million forms of torture, life after life!

The current clue... pointed towards the Ancient Moon Dynasty’s foremost power: the Old Sword Saint of the Sword God Sect. This meant that in the Ancient Moon Dynasty, the highest authority orchestrating this was this Old Sword Saint. According to Luo Li’s account, this invincible Old Sword Saint had always been the strongest cultivator within the Ancient Moon Dynasty. A hundred years ago, he was already a formidable Half-Step Divine Bridge Realm cultivator. Now, a hundred years had passed since he went into seclusion. Although there had been no news of his progress, he was likely on the verge of breaking through to the Divine Bridge Realm. Currently, Luo Li and Jun Moxiao were only at the Shaping God Realm. Against a cultivator at the Half-Step Divine Bridge Realm, let alone the Divine Bridge Realm, they stood no chance of victory. Both of them needed a prolonged period of training.

Upon realizing this, Ye Yun devised a preliminary plan.

Finding the person pulling the strings was not urgent at the moment. The priority was to train Luo Li and Jun Moxiao, transforming them into the Dragon God Sect’s future unparalleled powerhouses. And one day, he would inevitably have to leave the Cangnan Continent. Therefore, Ye Yun was determined to groom these two as successors for the Dragon God Sect.

Ye Yun looked at Luo Li and smiled, saying, ”We don’t have to rush to the Sword God Sect just yet. Instead, let’s travel around and take this opportunity to improve your cultivation base.”

As he finished his sentence, Ye Yun took out two small bottles from his clothes. He handed them to the pair.

”Ancestor, what is this?” Luo Li curiously lifted the small bottle to her nose, inhaling a faint, ineffable scent that was incredibly comforting.

”This is the Dragon Tiger Pill,” Ye Yun said with a smile. ”Now that you’ve reached the Shaping God Realm, it’s the perfect time to use these Dragon Tiger Pills to enhance your cultivation base.”

Jun Moxiao and Luo Li exchanged glances, both somewhat bewildered. They had never heard of this Dragon Tiger Pill before. However, since it was something presented by the Ancestor, it was certainly extraordinary. They both opened their small bottles simultaneously, glanced inside, and focused on sensing the pills’ aura.

”Ancestor, could this possibly be of God level quality?” Jun Moxiao asked, his voice trembling.

Ye Yun simply nodded with a smile.

Jun Moxiao and Luo Li were momentarily stunned, feeling as if they were in a dream. The two hurriedly released their Divine Sense, carefully examining the contents of the small bottles. To their immediate delight, they discovered that each little bottle actually contained tens of thousands of Dragon Tiger Pills!

”Heavens, there are so many God-level pills! Ancestor, you are truly too good to us!” Luo Li pressed the small bottle to her chest, shocked, overjoyed, and utterly captivated.

”HAHAHA...” Ye Yun burst out laughing, lightly tapping the two youngsters before him. He chuckled, ”You two are the only remaining disciples of the Dragon God Sect. If I don’t nurture you properly, how could I face the deceased Sect Masters of the Dragon God Sect?”

These words made both Luo Li and Jun Moxiao blush deeply.

”These Dragon Tiger Pills are very potent; you can only take one per month,” Ye Yun mused for a moment, then softly instructed. After all, Luo Li’s and Jun Moxiao’s bodies were not yet strong enough to withstand the potent effects of the God-level Dragon Tiger Pills.

As for their performance during the trip to the Outer Cloud Sword Sect, Ye Yun gave Luo Li and Jun Moxiao a barely passing grade. These two are inexperienced in battle, their minds are too naive, and they lack ruthlessness.

Ye Yun thought for a moment, a plan forming in his mind. After all, the Sword God Sect is still a long way off. There are still eight of the ten great Sects left, plus some quasi-first-rate powers. It would be best to challenge them one by one to properly temper these two youngsters.

With this plan decided, Ye Yun smiled and patted them both on the shoulders.

”Alright, let’s go.”

Ye Yun entered the black carriage and gave a command, causing the vehicle to descend to the ground again.

Jun Moxiao and Luo Li hurriedly assented and sat near the front of the carriage.

”NEIGH!” The Black Horse whinnied, its hooves a blur as it sped along the rugged mountain road.

”Ancestor, what happened with the Outer Cloud Sword Sect?” Jun Moxiao was driving the carriage when Luo Li suddenly had a thought and asked.

”Those ants actually dared to covet this carriage...” Ye Yun smiled faintly, not elaborating further.

”Those people deserved to die!” Jun Moxiao said angrily.

Luo Li’s dark eyes darted thoughtfully for a moment, and a look of sudden realization dawned on her exquisite little face. She patted Jun Moxiao’s shoulder and giggled, ”Does that even need saying? Of course, they’re all gone...”

Understanding immediately dawned on Jun Moxiao as well, and he began to laugh heartily.

The black carriage traveled onward. After exiting the mountainous region, it entered a stretch of plains. Over a hundred li away, a large, imposing city stood.

A thought flashed through Ye Yun’s mind, and the black carriage came to a halt.

”Ancestor?” Jun Moxiao was surprised, turning his head towards the carriage.

The Black Horse, which had been steadily trotting, suddenly halted. This could only have happened because the Ancestor commanded it. Otherwise, he knew he couldn’t possibly make this Black Horse stop on his own.

Ye Yun stepped out of the carriage. With a light tap of his finger on Jun Moxiao and Luo Li, their cultivation bases instantly plummeted from the Shaping God Realm down to the Origin Sea Realm.

Jun Moxiao’s cultivation base dropped to the Fourth Level of the Origin Sea Realm.

Luo Li’s fell to the First Level of the Origin Sea Realm.

Feeling their cultivation bases drop so drastically, both of them were visibly aghast!
