Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: 100,000 years ago, the ancestor came back from the dead!

”DING! Will the host check-in?”

”Check-in.”

”DING! Congratulations to the host for successfully checking in for 100,000 years, with a total of 5,256,000,000 check-ins. Your merit is now complete. The Check-in Space will begin to unlock. Countdown: 10 minutes...”

「In a vast, deep space.」

Ye Yun, present as a Prime soul body, suddenly heard the System’s voice, and his numb soul was finally infused with a hint of vitality.

100,000 years!

He can finally leave!

In this Mystical Space, shrouded in darkness, he had checked in every ten minutes for a total of 100,000 years.

Ye Yun silently waited...

He didn’t know what the world would be like after 100,000 years.

Did the Dragon God Sect become stronger, or more desolate?

「...」

「The ruins of the Dragon God Sect.」

「The back mountain.」

”Master, at last we’ve laid you to rest!”

”On the road transporting your ashes, we three martial siblings were pursued. Eldest Martial Sister covered for us, and to this day, her fate remains unknown...”

”I suspect... she’s probably dead...”

”Youngest Martial Brother... he was captured midway...”

”Now, I’m the only one left in the entire Dragon God Sect...”

”Master, although you passed the position of Sect Master to me before your death, I’m afraid... I may not be able to carry out your will.”

”After I’ve seen to your arrangements, I will also leave this place, change my name, and never show my face in public again...”

”Master, I can’t hold on by myself anymore...”

Before a newly built grave, a girl in a patched and dirty robe knelt on the ground, burning incense, her dust-covered face filled with sorrow.

The girl was about sixteen or seventeen years old. Her robe was torn in many places, revealing her snowy-white skin. In some places, dark red, still-wet bloodstains had soaked through the fabric, a shocking sight.

She had muttered her innermost thoughts aloud before the grave.

The great weight in the girl’s heart seemed to lift. Her expression relaxed considerably.

Luo Li stood up and looked around. She saw nearly three hundred graves densely arranged in the valley where she stood.

Originally, I should have been buried here after my death.

But now, I’ve decided to disband the Dragon God Sect.

So after I die, I’m destined to have no connection with this place.

Although the Dragon God Sect was an unranked minor sect, it had a long history. Every Sect Master was to be buried in this valley after their death.

Before those densely packed graves stood ancient, weathered steles. Some were so old that, if one were to calculate their age, they had been there for at least a hundred thousand years.

”Alas, My Dragon God Sect was once said to be a top-tier, Eternal Level major sect. Who would have thought we’d fall to this state...”

Luo Li sighed, her small, dark face looking desolate.

As the destitute Sect Master, Luo Li was only at the eighth layer of the Gathering Qi Realm. She could be described as the weakest Sect Master in history.

In the years she spent practicing Cultivation with her master, she and her martial siblings spent their time either hiding from place to place or fleeing from enemies pursuing them.

How could there have been any time to cultivate?

Therefore, Luo Li’s cultivation base was pitifully weak.

It was said that the 250th Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect had once offended a major power.

From then on, generation after generation of Dragon God Sect disciples embarked on a path of flight.

Despite this, the Dragon God Sect still endured for nearly fifty more generations. By the time it was passed down to Luo Li, she was already the 298th Sect Master.

Recalling the bitter past, Luo Li’s face became even more somber, and she sighed quietly a few more times.

Perhaps it was the Dragon God Bloodline that gave the Successors of the Dragon God Sect such tenacious faith. Generation after generation of Sect Masters struggled to survive in dire straits, evading wave after wave of pursuit from their enemies.

Over time, the Dragon God Sect became weaker and weaker. By the time it reached Luo Li’s master’s generation, in several decades, he had only taken three disciples.

And her master was merely a Cultivator at the Origin Sea Realm.

”Alas, the past is too painful to recall...”

Luo Li’s mournful gaze swept over several ancient graves deeper in, and she suddenly murmured to herself, ”Forget it. I won’t be coming back here anyway. I might as well offer a final stick of incense to the Sect’s ancestors!”

Having said that, Luo Li took a bundle of incense and walked towards the first row of graves deeper in the valley.

「...」

Starting with the grave of the Sect’s founding ancestor, Luo Li offered incense silently, her small, dark, dust-covered face solemn.

When she arrived at the 13th grave, Luo Li glanced at the ancient stele before it. The look in her narrow, almond-shaped eyes suddenly changed.

Is this the strongest ancestor in the history of the Dragon God Sect? I heard he was arrogant and domineering, offending many. He even dared to take liberties with the Saintess of the Ice Phoenix Sect! He incurred universal condemnation, and in the end, he only served as Sect Master for six years before abdicating...

Speaking of this, Luo Li’s full lips curled into a sneer, ”HUMPH! He could be called the shortest-lived Sect Master in the Dragon God Sect’s history!”

Despite her indignation, Luo Li still offered a stick of incense. After all, this thirteenth-generation Sect Master had once led the Dragon God Sect to its most glorious achievements.

He deserved this stick of incense from her.

For the previous twelve ancestors, Luo Li had kowtowed after offering each stick of incense.

But before this thirteenth-generation Sect Master, she did not kowtow. She stood ramrod straight.

”Ancestor, if you hadn’t been so arrogant and made so many enemies, how could the Dragon God Sect have declined so rapidly afterwards?”

”And you yourself, I heard you suffered a cultivation deviation during Cultivation and just kicked the bucket! This made many of your enemies at the time rejoice, saying our Dragon God Sect had committed countless evils and got what it deserved...”

After voicing her complaints, Luo Li grumbled under her breath and turned, preparing to offer incense at the 14th grave.

Suddenly, the soil loosened, and faint rustling sounds emerged.

Watching the soil continuously bulge, Luo Li was aghast, her face instantly showing terror.

Has the corpse reanimated?

Has the ancestor come back to life?

Did he crawl out of his coffin?

Luo Li trembled like a leaf, scared to death.

Could an ancestor, dead for 100,000 years, really be so angered by my mockery that he’d crawl out of his coffin?

A white skeletal hand suddenly stretched out from the mound of earth.

BANG!

The grave mound suddenly burst open!

A white skeleton leapt high into the air, landing before Luo Li.

”Heavens, a ghost!”

Luo Li was so frightened she collapsed onto her bottom, the whites of her eyes showing, nearly wetting herself.
