Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 2: Chapter 2, The Old Ancestor of the True God Realm, Laughs at the World

”Little girl, were you badmouthing me just now?”

Staring at the petrified little charcoal-black girl in front of him, Ye Yun, who had just crawled out of the coffin, suddenly broke into a grin. That smile made his rickety skeleton jaw produce a ”CLACK, CLACK” sound.

Ye Yun looked down at himself, only to find that his chest was completely empty. Nothing but a bare skeleton remained.

Well, at least the skeleton is still here, Ye Yun thought with slight relief. He possessed the Ancestral Dragon Blood and could regenerate his physical body.

”Old Ancestor, I was wrong! I shouldn’t have badmouthed you! Please, spare me!” Luo Li’s face was deathly pale and her expression panicked; she kowtowed repeatedly, banging her head on the ground, so frightened she burst into tears. She never imagined that her complaining would make the Old Ancestor crawl out of his coffin.

”Which generation’s Sect Master are you? How can you be so weak?” Ye Yun quietly stared at Luo Li; his hollow, skeletal eye sockets emanated a sinister and terrifying aura.

”Replying to you, Ancestor, I am the 298th generation Sect Master, Luo Li. Although my strength is a bit lacking, I am absolutely the Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect, guaranteed!” Luo Li timidly raised her head, her eyes filled with terror, and with trembling hands, she unsteadily took out the Clan Leader’s Token.

”So you really are the Sect Master...” Ye Yun glanced at the token and then surveyed his surroundings, immediately confirming Luo Li’s identity.

This place was the burial ground behind the ancestral hall, on the rear mountain, where all successive Sect Masters of the Dragon God Sect were interred after their deaths. He had personally set up a grand formation here, and only the Sect Master could enter.

Ye Yun no longer doubted Luo Li’s identity. However, this little girl’s cultivation realm... it was simply too low. If this were a hundred thousand years ago, a disciple of such caliber wouldn’t even be qualified to carry the shoes for the Outer Disciples of the Dragon God Sect.

”Has the world grown weaker, or has the Dragon God Sect?” Ye Yun’s deep, skeletal eye sockets fixed on Luo Li, his voice low and eerie.

”Replying to you, Old Ancestor, the world hasn’t changed. It is the Dragon God Sect that has declined... Now... now, I am the only one left...” At this, Luo Li plopped onto the ground and burst into uncontrollable sobs. Her already disheveled appearance worsened as tears and mucus streamed down her face, making her look even more pitiful.

What a pitiful little girl! Seeing Luo Li cry so sorrowfully, Ye Yun sighed inwardly. He had never imagined that the Dragon God Sect would fall into such a dilapidated state. However, this was the cruel reality a hundred thousand years later. Ye Yun adjusted his mindset and began to confront this reality.

”Close your eyes,” Ye Yun instructed. He was about to regenerate his physical body and didn’t want this junior to witness the process.

”Oh!” Luo Li obediently closed her eyes.

Ye Yun touched his wrist, and his Divine Thought reached into the System’s inventory, retrieving a porcelain vial whose contents he promptly drank. This was the Ancestral Dragon Blood provided by the System, the reward from his first check-in.

Every Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect possessed a dense Dragon God Bloodline. In his time, Ye Yun’s Dragon God Bloodline concentration had reached an astonishing 99%. By the time he was twenty-four, he had broken through to the Eternal Realm, standing at the pinnacle of the Cangnan Continent.

It was at this time that the check-in System was activated. The System had told him that if he wished to advance further on the path of cultivation, he had to discard his Dragon God Bloodline and replace it with the Ancestral Dragon Bloodline. Only then could he break through the Eternal Realm and enter the legendary God Realm. After deep consideration, Ye Yun agreed to the System’s request and entered the mysterious Check-in Space. He remained there for a full hundred thousand years, checking in a staggering 5.2 billion times...

After the Ancestral Dragon Blood was absorbed by the skeleton, fresh blood and flesh regenerated over the white bones at an astonishing, visible-to-the-naked-eye speed. With a light shake of his wrist, Ye Yun donned a snow-white robe.

”Alright, you can open your eyes now!” Ye Yun said with a gentle smile.

Luo Li moved her hands from her eyes, and her eyes instantly lit up. Clad in robes whiter than snow, the Ancestor possessed an exceptional grace. Noble and refined, he resembled an exiled immortal, his peerless bearing difficult to describe.

The Old Ancestor is actually so handsome... Her cheeks flushed, Luo Li couldn’t take her eyes off Ye Yun, afraid of missing a single detail. In her entire life, she had never seen such a handsome man, as exquisite as jade. A young man in a white robe, elegant and poised, he was simply breathtaking.

Ye Yun stood with his hands clasped behind his back, a faint smile on his lips as he observed the pitiful little snot-nosed brat before him.

At that moment, the power of the Ancestral Dragon Blood surged through his body like a great river, and the Eternity Realm’s barrier within him shattered. Ye Yun had finally achieved his desire and entered the True God Realm.

In the Cangnan Continent, beneath the gods, cultivation was divided into ten major realms: Body Refining Realm, Gathering Qi Realm, Mysterious Pill Realm, Origin Sea Realm, Shaping God Realm, Divine Bridge Realm, Nirvana Realm, Destiny Realm, Life and Death Realm, and Eternal Realm. The Eternal Realm was already the peak; if one broke through to the True God Realm, they would become an invincible god who could look down upon the world.

In the Cangnan Continent, for hundreds of thousands of years, no one had set foot into the God Realm. The God Realm was merely an ancient legend.

”Ancestor, has your cultivation base broken through?” Luo Li stared, aghast, her eyes wide and her mouth agape. Through the unique resonance between her Dragon’s Heart Method and Dragon God Bloodline, she had previously been able to vaguely surmise that the Old Ancestor’s cultivation base was perhaps in the Eternal Realm. But just now, an even more potent Super Divine Dragon Breath had erupted from the Old Ancestor. When she sensed with her bloodline once more, she found she could no longer perceive the Ancestor’s realm.

”I’ve broken through!” Ye Yun said with a laugh.

”Old Ancestor, does this mean you are now... in the True God Realm?” Luo Li asked, her voice trembling. As the Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect, possessing the Sect’s foundational knowledge, Luo Li knew that above the Eternal Realm, there was the ethereal and legendary True God Realm.

”Yes!” Ye Yun nodded.

”Wow! It’s actually the True God Realm! Old Ancestor, the Dragon God Sect is saved!” Hearing Ye Yun’s confirmation, Luo Li first danced with excitement, then burst into loud sobs.

A God! The True God Realm! That was the terrifying, legendary God Realm spoken of in the tales of the Cangnan Continent. No one knew how many tens of thousands of years it had been since anyone last achieved such a breakthrough. Most cultivators had never even heard of the True God Realm.

Ye Yun touched the spot between his eyebrows. It’s clear this little snot-nosed brat must have endured countless hardships and grievances in the declining Dragon God Sect.

”Little girl, tell me what has happened to the Dragon God Sect,” Ye Yun said seriously.

”Ancestor, the Dragon God Sect today...” Luo Li wiped her tears and proceeded to tell Ye Yun everything she knew about the Sect.

After she finished, Ye Yun quietly asked, ”So, according to you, you don’t know which superpower it was that the 250th generation Sect Master offended?”

”That’s right, Old Ancestor!” Luo Li replied, her face mournful. ”It was too long ago, and the previous Ancestors were extremely secretive about it. As a result, even now, we don’t know who it is that has been constantly targeting the Dragon God Sect...”

”Fear not. No matter who it is, I will annihilate their entire clan!” A bloodthirsty glint flashed in Ye Yun’s eyes. His calm voice carried an iron will capable of destroying heaven and earth.

Luo Li was stunned. This handsome Old Ancestor... when he’s domineering, he’s simply too charismatic!

Ye Yun used his Divine Thought to assess Luo Li’s aptitude. He discovered that the little girl’s Dragon God Bloodline was pitifully thin, and couldn’t help but feel a trace of disappointment.

It seems the current Dragon God Sect doesn’t even measure up to a third-rate sect.

But no matter. He had his ways.

Ye Yun touched his wrist again and took out a medicinal pellet.

”Take this Marrow Cleansing Pill first!” Ye Yun instructed, then with a flick of his finger, sent it flying towards Luo Li.

What quality is this...? Luo Li’s gaze was fixed on the Marrow Cleansing Pill, which emanated Dao Rhythm. Her hands trembled as she held the pellet.

Heavens, what kind of quality is this? She had never in her life seen such an incredible Marrow Cleansing Pill!

”It’s a God-level Top-grade Marrow Cleansing Pill,” Ye Yun said with a faint smile.

What? God-level?

Luo Li was so frightened she shivered. In her dazed state, the God-level Top-grade Marrow Cleansing Pill slipped from her trembling fingers and fell to the ground.
