Chapter 73: Chapter 72 Not Good Enough Chapter 73: Chapter 72 Not Good Enough Liyuan Mall’s second floor.

After buying the watch, Zhao Yaqian became full of life and even took the initiative to link arms with He Liting, pulling her to look at clothes in the store.

“I’m going to try on this dress, they have the perfect size.”

Zhao Yaqian handed over her bag and the watch gift bag to her, and with clothes in hand, she ducked into the fitting room.

It took a while before she came out, beaming with excitement.

Standing in the bustling aisle, she swayed side to side in front of the mirror.

The black floral dress just reached the middle of her thighs, cinched at the waist, enhancing her graceful, curvaceous figure even more.

May was right around the corner, and as the temperature gradually rose, the dress was just perfect.

“Ting, does it look good? Does it fit well at the back?” Zhao Yaqian twirled in front of He Liting.

He Liting nodded and said, “It really suits you, it’s slimming and makes you look fairer.”

Zhao Yaqian nodded happily, took out her phone, and snapped a photo—she looked beautiful from every angle!

For some reason, she felt like sharing it with Brother Song.

After changing back into her original clothes, she spent 230 yuan and happily purchased the dress, her smile brightening even more.

They strolled the streets a bit longer, picking out a piece of clothing for He Liting, before the two made their way to the tea shop on the first floor.

Zhao Yaqian ordered a cup of warm pearl milk tea and began to savor it contentedly.

He Liting hesitated, then asked in a low voice, “Qianqian, tell me the truth, you were upset before because of Tang Song, weren’t you?”

She knew her cousin quite well and had keenly sensed the crux of the problem based on a series of reactions from the other party.

Zhao Yaqian’s hand trembled, and she looked down as she continued to sip her milk tea, “No, it was just a simple bout of feeling down.”

“You’re acting really strange,” He Liting said with a penetrating gaze. “Even if you don’t tell me, I can guess! Qianqian, we’re not just relatives, but also best friends. Is there anything you can’t tell me?”

Zhao Yaqian whispered, “I don’t know what’s going on, it’s just that, he said some things to me last night, and it left me feeling anxious and very confused—it’s a feeling I’ve never had before.”

“What did he say?”

Zhao Yaqian, with a worried frown, briefly recounted the previous night’s events.

“So it was a confession!” He Liting instantly showed a look of understanding, “Rejecting him was the right thing to do, after all, you two are not a good match. But you’ve been confessed to by lots of guys since you were young, why such a big reaction this time?”

Zhao Yaqian’s gaze darted around, and she stuttered without being able to find the words.

Tapping lightly on her forehead, He Liting said, “You couldn’t have developed feelings for that programmer friend, could you? What exactly attracts you to him?”

Zhao Yaqian took a big gulp of her milk tea, her hands cupping her cheeks.

After a long silence, she said blankly, “Maybe I do like him a bit. When I’m with him, I always feel… I don’t know how to describe it, perhaps it’s a sense of security.”

When traveling, he would arrange everything and also prepare lots of little surprises.

He would worry about my commute on rainy days, sending red packets and offering rides.

When coming for a treatment, he would bring my favorite fried skewers and milk tea.

On WeChat, he often showed concern about my work and life.

And he has this unique sense of ease and composure about him, as if he’s full of confidence and goals for the future.

Spending time with him, I’d be unknowingly influenced by his vibe.

Hearing her words, He Liting pinched her cheek firmly, “Calm down, you’ve just entered society; you’ll meet many outstanding guys in the future.”

“Brother Song is also outstanding, exceptionally capable at his job, and knows a lot. He has successfully lost weight, and his skin has improved a lot — I think he’s quite handsome…”

Zhao Yaqian rattled off many of Tang Song’s virtues, as if trying to counter her friend’s words.

He Liting took her cousin’s phone and looked at recent photos sent by Tang Song.

She expressed surprise, “He really has changed quite a bit from before, seems much younger, and his appearance is quite acceptable now.”

“I have some credit for that,” Zhao Yaqian raised her eyebrows, a proud look on her face.

He Liting shook her head, “That won’t be enough.”

Just as Zhao Yaqian was about to say something, her face suddenly changed, and she stood up immediately.

“What’s wrong, Qianqian?”

Zhao Yaqian squeezed her legs together, embarrassingly said, “My period came, and I didn’t bring a sanitary pad.”

He Liting quickly pulled out a small pack of tissues and handed them over, “Use this to pad for now.”

“Ok,” Zhao Yaqian took the tissues and quickly walked towards the restroom of the mall.

Good thing she had a hot drink just now. If it had been cold, her stomach would have been in turmoil these next few days.

By the time a very relieved Zhao Yaqian returned to the milk tea shop,

He Liting’s phone happened to ring.

She answered the call.

“Hello, Brother Hui, I’m with my bestie at the Mixue Ice Cream & Tea on the first floor of the mall.”

“Well, my bestie isn’t feeling well, we were just about to head home.”

“Uh… okay, then we’ll trouble you to pick us up. We’ll wait by the side of the West Gate Road. The road is wide there, easier for parking.”

She hung up the phone.

He Liting winked at her, smiling, “He’s a colleague who started working at our company recently and has been chasing me like crazy. I just posted on my Moments, and he came running over.”

“Oh?” Zhao Yaqian gossiped, “What’s he like? How far have you two progressed?”

He Liting laughed, “We’ve only just met. How far could it have gone? Just regular colleague relations. As for him… he’s got a car and a house in Yan City, and he’s quite handsome, a bit better than your programmer friend, haha.”

Hearing this, Zhao Yaqian pouted unhappily, feeling that her cousin’s words had an undertone.

“Let’s go; it’s perfect to have him drive you home, so you don’t catch a cold and your stomach hurts on the way,” He Liting said with a smile, linking arms with her.

As they stepped out of the south entrance of the mall, the sky was gradually darkening.

A cool breeze blew, and Zhao Yaqian, who just got her period, quickly shielded her lower abdomen with her purse.

The two of them didn’t wait long at the roadside.

A white Accord pulled up and came to a slow stop in front of them.

Then, a man in his mid to late twenties got out of the driver’s seat.

Dressed in a light-colored casual suit, quite handsome, around 175cm tall.

“Liting!” The man called out with a smile while waving his hand, “You look so beautiful today, I spotted you right away.”

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but give Zhao Yaqian another glance.

Tight leggings paired with jeans outlined her perfect waist curve, wavy long hair, bright features, and with her height of 180cm, she actually stood out more than He Liting.

He Liting introduced her, “This is my bestie, Zhao Yaqian. Thanks for the trouble, Brother Hui, especially for making the trip out here just for us.”

“It’s nothing,” Li Xinghui smiled, “Hello, Yaqian, I’m Liting’s colleague, Li Xinghui.”

“Hello, Brother Hui.”

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the three of them sat in the car.

As Li Xinghui drove, he said, “It’s mealtime; why don’t I treat you two beauties to a feast? You can head home afterward.”

Zhao Yaqian hurriedly shook her head, “I won’t go, I’m feeling uncomfortable.”

Blood was slowly flowing, and she really feared it might leak out. That would be too embarrassing.

“Uh… then you should go back and rest. Liting, there’s a new outdoor barbecue place near our company that’s gotten good reviews. A few colleagues have been there, and they say the environment is fantastic. How about we go and enjoy a meal there?”

Seeing her hesitate in the rearview mirror, Li Xinghui continued, “I made the effort to come here, you wouldn’t refuse me, right?”

He Liting pursed her lips and said, “Then, thank you, Brother Hui.”

“Heh, don’t mention it.”
