Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 237: Chapter 151: The Girl of Dragon Cliff

Even with Qin Ruyue’s mental fortitude, the thought made her shudder.

Zhong Yi walked over and reached out to touch the Creation Fertility Ant Queen’s slowly squirming abdomen. He spoke to Qin Ruyue in a serious tone.

”Sister Yue, as you can see, this Ant Queen devours living powerhouses.”

”Regardless of whether that powerhouse is a Guardian Beast Master or a Deceit Beast Master, they can be converted into an Ant Race unit under this Ant Queen’s command.”

”I plan to go to Longya City tomorrow.”

”I’ll have an escort for my trip to Longya City, so you don’t need to come with me.”

”While I’m in Longya City, I’m going to assign you a mission. Consider it an opportunity I’m granting you.”

Zhong Yi paused briefly. At his pause, Qin Ruyue’s breath caught, and her expression immediately turned serious and focused.

’This is the first mission Zhong Yi has given me since I came under his command.’

’I must complete this mission perfectly, no matter what, to prove my value.’

As for the opportunity, although Qin Ruyue felt a flicker of anticipation, her mind was focused more on the mission.

Qin Ruyue listened as Zhong Yi continued.

”Outside Starlight City, there are many settlements of humans and Bizarre. Hidden among them are some Mythical Tier Bizarre that prey on the Lifebound Guardian Beasts of Guardian Beast Masters.”

”For every Mythical Tier Bizarre you help me control, just as you did with Shi Mi...”

”...I will give you twenty milliliters of that ink-colored potion the Night-Cutting Spider consumed before.”

After careful consideration, Zhong Yi had decided against letting the Creation Fertility Ant Queen devour Guardian Beast Masters.

Firstly, even if those Mythical Tier Guardian Beast Masters were outside the twenty-nine Heroic Cities, they were still citizens of the Xin Xia Federation.

If Qin Ruyue were to capture these Mythical Tier Guardian Beast Masters living outside Starlight City, it would inevitably cause some negative repercussions.

Capturing the Mythical Tier Bizarre that preyed on the Lifebound Guardian Beasts of Guardian Beast Masters, on the other hand, would be a service to the internal stability of the Xin Xia Federation.

Secondly, the strength of a Mythical Tier Bizarre was often greater than that of a Mythical Tier Guardian Beast Master.

Even though it wasn’t difficult for the Creation Fertility Ant Queen to produce offspring, Zhong Yi still hoped her progeny would be elite soldiers.

For every Mythical Tier Bizarre Qin Ruyue captured, Zhong Yi would only give her twenty milliliters of Flowing Soul Soil.

Considering how much Flowing Soul Soil Zhong Yi had previously consumed, this reward seemed rather stingy.

However, Qin Ruyue’s face was flushed with excitement!

’Previously, just ten milliliters of Flowing Soul Soil had caused her Night-Cutting Spider’s reproductive cavity to evolve.’

Qin Ruyue had been wondering how she could possibly obtain more Flowing Soul Soil from Zhong Yi.

Now that Zhong Yi had given her a path to acquire it, she certainly wouldn’t let the opportunity pass.

Besides, with her strength at the Mythical Tier Peak and her command over the Power of Rules...

...capturing those Mythical Tier Bizarre would be a simple task for her.

However, when she considered Zhong Yi’s requirements, she spoke with some awkwardness.

”Young Master, when I go to capture those Mythical Tier Bizarre, they’re not going to just surrender without a fight.”

”In the process of fighting them, I can’t guarantee they won’t be injured.”

”If I run into some who resist fiercely, damage to their Origin would be considered a light wound.”

”So, you see...”

Before Qin Ruyue could finish, Zhong Yi cut her off.

”You just have to make sure you don’t kill these Deceit Beast Masters and their Deceit Beasts.”

”No matter how severe their injuries are, I can heal them. Feel free to go all out when you capture them.”

Zhong Yi hadn’t hidden the existence of the Creation Fertility Ant Queen from Qin Ruyue precisely so that she could help it capture ”materials” to cultivate its offspring.

Now, Zhong Yi’s Resurrection Celestial Lord had been upgraded to Silver Quality.

When healing the Bizarre that Qin Ruyue injured, Zhong Yi could rely on the Resurrection Celestial Lord’s Exclusive Trait, Withered Oasis.

He could store the damage sustained by these Deceit Beast Masters and Deceit Beasts within the oasis, keeping it as a trump card for himself.

Since there was a profit to be made, Zhong Yi didn’t mind expending his own effort and the Energy of his Resurrection Celestial Lord to heal these Bizarre.

After clarifying the mission Zhong Yi had given her, Qin Ruyue immediately took her leave and departed from Starlight City.

She immediately decided to head to the various human settlements outside Starlight City to capture those Mythical Tier Bizarre.

In order to obtain more Flowing Soul Soil before Zhong Yi returned from Longya City, Qin Ruyue prepared to go on a hardcore grinding spree for the next ten to fifteen days, determined to round up as many of these Mythical Tier Bizarre as she could.

After recalling the Creation Fertility Ant Queen and the Ant Successor it had produced from devouring Shi Mi into his Soul Base, Zhong Yi made a call to Wen Tao.

He made arrangements with Wen Tao to go to Longya City together the next day.

...

The bright moon hung high in the sky, its light spilling over a majestic Heroic City.

Even late at night, the roars of dragons would occasionally echo through the Heroic City.

This was a characteristic feature of Longya City!

Longya City had the highest concentration of Dragon Species Guardian Beast Masters in the entire Xin Xia Federation. Rumor had it this was related to the residents’ fondness for drinking Dragon Blood Wine.

However, any intelligent person knew this was merely a rumor.

The true reason Longya City had so many Guardian Beast Masters with Contracted Dragon Species Guardian Beasts was that there were three valleys near the city that were teeming with them.

These valleys also contained many materials capable of awakening the Bloodline of Dragon Species Guardian Beasts.

This caused many Guardian Beast Masters who had contracted Dragon Species Guardian Beasts over the millennia to choose to settle in Longya City.

Furthermore, the type of Guardian Beast a Guardian Beast Master was compatible with was hereditary. After generations of families living and growing there, at least sixty percent of all Guardian Beast Masters in Longya City had contracted a Dragon Species Guardian Beast.

Among the various types of Guardian Beasts, the Dragon Species was considered an exceptionally superior one.

Although Longya City had produced a Dragon Emperor, its overall strength was not enough to place it in the top ten of the Xin Xia Federation’s twenty-nine Heroic Cities.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have remained rivals with Furnace City for hundreds of years over the ownership of those ore veins.

This situation was primarily because the most fundamental aspect of raising a Dragon Species Guardian Beast was enhancing its Bloodline.

Raising a Dragon Species Guardian Beast was far more difficult than raising other types of Guardian Beasts.

With so many Guardian Beast Masters in Longya City contracting Dragon Species Guardian Beasts, the prices for materials that could awaken their Bloodlines were naturally higher as well.

There was another important reason for Longya City’s lack of prominence in recent years.

The Dragon Emperor had left Longya City to join the Royal Capital, and was no longer considered Longya City’s Celestial Destiny Seeker.

This was unlike the Star Emperor, who had always remained in Starlight City.

At this moment, dragon roars continued to sound intermittently within Longya City. Falling asleep to the sound of these roars had long become a habit for the city’s residents.

At the border between the Upper and Lower City Districts, inside a shop that had long been closed...

...a young girl with red, swollen eyes looked at an old man before her, whose gaze had grown murky, and cried out in distress.

”Grandpa, did they come to cause trouble in the shop again?”

”I saw that many of the Guardian Beasts you’ve been raising for the past few days were killed.”

”Grandpa, can’t we leave Longya City?”

”Why do we have to suffer here, never knowing a moment of peace!?”

The old man’s murky eyes were heavy with weariness, almost devoid of any light.

Just a little over a decade ago, this old man had still cut the figure of a dashing, middle-aged man.

The hardships of the intervening years had nearly broken his spirit.

”Niannian, it is I who has failed you. I couldn’t protect you, and I couldn’t protect your parents.”

With a long sigh, the old man smoothed out the girl’s somewhat messy hair and then handed her a set of clean clothes.

”If we could leave Longya City, I would have taken you away long ago.”

”Niannian, your clothes are dirty. Go change into a clean set.”

”It’s fine if you don’t go to school tomorrow. You can stay in the shop with me and learn the ways of a Creator. Grandpa can teach you.”

The old man’s murky eyes revealed a repressed pain and deep affection.

The girl before him was not rebellious, but she still shook her head.

”Grandpa, I absolutely have to go to school!”

”If I can rank in the top three for both the cultural and combat portions of the final exams this year, I can get a Bright Eyes Flower for you from the school’s Treasure Vault.”

”If you use the Bright Eyes Flower, maybe your eyes will be able to see clearly again.”
