Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 852: Chapter 148: An Immortal Legacy of Ages, Told in Laughter

The fifteenth year of the Giant Dragon Calendar, early summer.

Due to the deforestation and vigorous development of territories, the coastal regions of the Golden Empire in the east always feel the sea wind and moisture from the sea during summer rains.

This humid, sticky weather is actually not favored by many dragons who prefer dry and warm environments, such as the Golden Dragon and Red Dragon.

However, as unique as the dragons’ adaptability, dragons may not like any harsh environment, but they can live comfortably in any such environment.

The Royal Capital is almost never affected by sea winds, though sometimes unexpected rains still bring the scent of the sea.

This is a scent that only dragons can smell.

“Damn those Blue Dragons, always meddling with magic to bring rain, and they also bring in the sea storms, truly unsettling for dragons,”

The Ancestral Golden Dragon Oblash dragged his long tail through the city streets, mumbling.

Golden Dragons, like Red Dragons, do not favor sticky and moist weather, especially mixed with the stickiness of sea winds, making this Golden Dragon feel his second most beautiful scale in the Golden Empire might grow mold.

The atmosphere in the empire has been quite lively these days, even in the city with continuous rain, discussions and debates are heard everywhere.

The Ancestral Golden Dragon Oblash wove through the city, raising his big ears to listen.

This stems from the Golden Empire’s ideology strategy, implementing relatively open and transparent political governance, allowing every Imperial citizen to feel direct participation, thereby promoting the great integration of diverse racial cultures.

The daily published Giant Dragon Daily is also a reason for discussions and debates among many Imperial citizens.

Yet regarding the recent Kings’ alliance, even the Ancestral Golden Dragon Oblash can deeply sense the inherent rising civilizational cultural identity and a strong personal racial pride.

This is an unprecedented event in Icaria World’s history, where the emperor of the Golden Empire, Karon Gogomola, attempts with the strength of one nation, to unite the Kings, not with chariots, but using strong prestige, employing a mix of soft and hard methods.

Moreover, the war and conflicts between the Elf Kingdom of the Western Continent and the Dark Nest and Dark Elves have temporarily been halted by the Golden Empire’s alliance, hence, in the eyes of many, this Kings’ alliance is also called the “Alliance for Armistice.”

While the ultimate purpose of this alliance is regarding war, the citizens of the Golden Empire prefer to adorn their emperor with a layer of glorification, even though many of their children will step onto that destined battlefield, they take pride in it.

The so-called ‘Alliance for Armistice,’ from another level in the eyes of these Imperial citizens, also means that as long as the Empire’s enemies are eliminated, that would also count as dispelling the disaster of war.

Thus, it is apparent that these weak and ordinary races do not demand much, they enjoy what the Dragon Group gives them, and they will give back all they have.

Golden Dragon Oblash shook off the citizens’ exaggerated praises and began pondering his own matters.

Now Oblash starts to understand, some words, some thoughts, some books are often not comprehensible at first.

Only after your life experiences resonate and collide with those words, thoughts, and those books regarded as classics, can you perceive and understand their meanings.

People educate people, yet cannot learn; events educate people, once makes it deep.

Now regarding those wars of the nobility, Oblash no longer sees these matters superficially as before.

Looking at history’s progression, Icaria World has never achieved long-lasting peace and stability, war and bloodshed are the theme songs among the regions and races.

The matters of overthrowing regimes through war are not new, while the Golden Empire’s system attempts to break class hierarchy, it’s the first initiative in Icaria’s history.

Although the Golden Empire considers the Dragon Group as supreme, defined as the highest class rulers.

Yet below the Empire’s Dragon Group, all beings are considered equal, with no distinction between nobility and commoners.

Moreover, this class-breaking system is particularly thorough in the Golden Empire because it ensures realization through the method of absolute power—violence.

Recently, the Imperial Government gradually launched the Golden Empire’s land reform bill, stipulating that each citizen’s land ownership belongs both to the individual and to the Golden Empire.

The Imperial Government cannot withdraw land ownership from any citizen in any way, nor can the citizens privately trade any piece of land.

This is both recovering the means of production to imperial ownership and clarifying ownership to individuals via the bill.

Though this bill is incomplete and requires improvement to adapt over time, its purpose is to regulate the growing phenomenon of land annexation in the process of imperial development.

However, even this bill that still needs improving exceeds any rules within the noble territories in Icaria World, which is intolerable for those nobility.

Therefore, in the eyes of Golden Dragon Oblash, this war is a result bound to occur sooner or later.

And this objective of breaking class hierarchy within the Imperial high-level conferences is essentially an experiment.

The Empire’s Dragon Group as the inherent highest rulers require the nation’s provision as unchangeable facts, not to be shaken in any way.
