Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 955: Chapter 403: Divine Kingdom Conception and Guardian Oath_2

After a brief thought, he said:

”How to prevent the tragedies that happened in Grimland, actually Olivia has already given you the answer.”

Erin frowned slightly, showing a look of confusion, ”Do you mean replacing people’s self-consciousness with collective consciousness? Weren’t you against her method?”

Wu Chang shook his head and said, ”I am not talking about her method, but his means.”

”Using absolute force to shape people’s perceptions.”

Erin’s confusion intensified, the answer given by Wu Chang sounded like something a villain would do.

Seeing Erin’s expression, Wu Chang smiled, stepped forward to take her hand, looked up at the full moon overhead, and said:

”The moonlight is beautiful tonight, would you like to take a walk with me?”

Erin’s cheeks reddened, seemingly recalling the words from movies, she nodded gently and said, ”Alright.”

Wu Chang held Erin’s hand and walked out of Wanghai First High School, strolling along the nighttime streets.

It was already the early hours of the morning, with only the two of them left on the streets, the atmosphere tranquil and peaceful under the moonlight above.

Suddenly Wu Chang broke the silence and said, ”Erin, how do you feel about Wanghai City’s nighttime security?”

Erin replied, ”Wanghai’s nights are very safe, tonight has been peaceful all over the city, no danger occurred.”

Erin could perceive everything happening in Wanghai City through the Divine Kingdom, her statement carried authority.

Wu Chang swung Erin’s hand and said:

”Did you know, twenty years ago, few people dared to go out at this hour.”

Erin asked, ”Why?”

Wu Chang shrugged, ”No specific reason, it was simply unsafe, perhaps not as chaotic as Grimland but not far off either.”

”Not to mention further back, let’s talk about a month ago, due to the Abyss’s erosion of the real world, wild transcendents increased, people’s resentment grew, and the crime rate in Wanghai City soared.”

”You intervened multiple times to save people, but a month later the crime rate in Wanghai City was effectively controlled, now it’s back to peaceful times, why is that?”

Erin understood what Wu Chang was trying to say, ”Are you saying it’s due to force?”

Wu Chang snapped his fingers and said, ”That’s correct, it’s force.”

”Wanghai City transformed from a place filled with miasma to one of harmony and peace, the laws maintain it, but what upholds the law? Is it self-awareness, morality? Certainly not, it’s violence.”

”Those who awaken extraordinary power and fancy themselves as protagonist, wanting to be superior, why did they stop causing trouble in Wanghai City? It’s because they were subdued through force and locked up in the Management Bureau’s underground.”

Erin couldn’t quite comprehend at first and said:

”But if simple force could work, why were Olivia and Julie having such a hard time?”

Wu Chang shook his head and said:

”I’m not suggesting you simply use force to eliminate people, but to establish corresponding rules and use force to compel everyone in the world to abide by your rules.”

”The problem-solving methods of gods and humans differ; only humans worry about superficial fixes and root causes, gods merely use divine power to achieve their desires. Like when God said ’Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

”To do so, you must become strong enough that others cannot refuse.”

At this point, Wu Chang took out the Eternal Lake and handed it to Erin.

”Take it, it may give you an answer.”

Following Wu Chang’s guidance, Erin reached out to grasp the Eternal Lake.

During their time in the Steam Phantom Plane, Wu Chang was curious how strong the Lake Light released by the Lake Light Holy Sword would be when Erin wielded it.

Old Anderson could illuminate an entire Saint George’s Church with the Lake Light Holy Sword, Erin should at least be able to light up the entire Saint George Plaza.

Worrying about too much disturbance, he didn’t attempt it before, but now he could finally do as he wished.

Wu Chang held his breath, focused intently on Erin; as she grasped the Eternal Lake, a flash of white light burst forth, nearly blinding him.

The intense light resembled a sun rising from Erin’s hand.

Wu Chang couldn’t see the range illuminated by the light, but with the highest authority integrated with the Desolate Realm, he felt the Lake Light Erin emitted brightened their entire Peace District.

The Peace District’s area was equivalent to a quarter of Grimland.

”Enough, turn off the light, or people might not be able to sleep,” Wu Chang covered his eyes and said to Erin.

Erin restrained the Lake Light, gathering it around ten centimeters of the sword blade.

Under extreme compression, the Lake Light transformed from light to substance, resembling a constantly rippling surface of water enveloping the sword.

Wu Chang picked up a stone and threw it towards the rippling water surface; the stirring of water instantly turned the stone into fine dust.

He grinned; he could be sure that in the Desolate Realm, no one would want to take a hit from such a sword.

”Erin, has your Guardian Oath been activated?”

Erin closed her eyes, sensing the Lake Light transforming into the shimmering water surface, and she said:

”It tells me, the oath projected from my inner beliefs is to fight for those in need of help and yearning for redemption.”

Wu Chang had known that the outcome would be like this, the Guardian Oath was a projection of inner beliefs, Erin’s Saintess Attribute destined her Guardian Oath would be as such.

Yet only such pure benevolence could make the Eternal Lake emit such brilliant light.

Wu Chang exaggeratedly sighed and said in a resentful tone, ”I thought your oath would be to fight for me.”
