Chapter 955: Chapter 937: Decapitation

The sudden change startled everyone present.

From the moment the sound of hooves faintly resonated from afar, it took less than a breath before Archbishop Louis at the rear of the formation had his head cut off and sent flying into the sky.

Even without using [Light Speed Flash], the Qilin’s speed is undeniable.

And when this speed combines with Lann’s swordsmanship, from hundreds of meters away, no longer concealing the sound of hooves, to the target being sliced and separated, it takes just a blink of an eye.

The rapid movement of the large horse turned the piled-up snowflakes on Ilyushil’s streets into separated waves.

And Lann, who gently swept the Lady of the Lake’s Sword across Archbishop Louis’s neck, even had to lean down on the back of the electrifying steed.

He plunged the blade tip into the ground, finally causing his body to tilt, helping the Qilin bend and decelerate to a halt.

Of course, the cost was the polished and elegant square in front of the magnificent mansion.

After Simo crashed half of the ground with his hammer, Lann’s sword tip carved a trench more than ten meters long.

Bricks flew, and underneath, mud splattered out.

The blade tip sparked as it ground against the earth.

”This situation is really different from what I imagined.”

Sitting on his horse, Lann scanned the undead knights opposite him while muttering softly.

In his original prediction, Elderidge headed for Ilyushil, but this place shouldn’t fear him.

After all, it’s the New Divine Capital! A name this grand! A position this crucial!

The main branch of the Divine Race, which started the Fire Age, resides here, supposedly unquestionable in strength.

Although Elderidge is a Fire King, he was a Fire King forcibly pushed into the Fire Transmission Ceremony.

Can this guy be stronger than the ones who forced him there?

And the armed forces that have maintained the fire and selected Fire Kings over the years are primarily the National Knight Order of Losric and the Dark Moon Sword Knight Order of Ilyushil.

These forces suppress a single Fire King entirely effortlessly.

After all, the primary characteristic of a Fire King is the ’huge soul’; combat ability is just an added, non-essential condition.

In Lann’s expectation, even if Elderidge came to the Cold Valley, he’d likely be a street rat or a cowardly turtle.

Once he contacted the [Shadow Sun] to explain the situation, found his hiding place, and called for backup using the White Marker Wax Stone, it would be all over.

It might be a tough battle, but it’s doable with preparation.

Yet now, after slightly relying on his keen senses to listen...

Great, this world truly is the paradise of schemers.

Someone in Ilyushil has betrayed them too.

And it’s that big figure even someone like Lann, who arrived just days ago, has heard of—Dark Moon Pope Shalivan.

If the Dark Moon Sword members could gather a force and fully utilize the Knight Order’s power, they could naturally suppress a Fire King like Elderidge.

But dispersed and restrained forces can’t be considered actual forces.

Just a scattered pile of sand.

Just like back in the Civil War battlefield when Lann crushed the command system of the Niflgaard Legion.

And facing the situation where a tall girl appearing clueless yet authoritative is about to hand him over following instructions, Lann suddenly decides not to wait.

”Who are you?”

Simo’s hammer was placed forward, instantly frightening You’Er Xia to take a small step back, while the large hammer head shattered the ground beneath it.

Lann waved his other weaponless hand.

”I just severed that thing’s head in this situation.”

The hand holding the Lady of the Lake’s Sword was raised, its blade pointing at the head that had rolled on the ground and left a trail of blood.

”Identity will be revealed later, but at least I’m not an enemy.”

”First, tell me why you, this skilled group, are so hesitant.”

Lann overheard some conversations from afar, but couldn’t pinpoint why this group, evidently stronger than the opponents, refrains from attacking.

Simo pondered for a moment, while the surprised You’Er Xia appeared completely helpless.

Though she had the courage to sacrifice herself despite her fear, courage alone is not enough for solving problems.

It requires experience and wisdom.

Watching the confused half-dragon girl beside him, Simo sighed and explained the situation of the Silver Knights to Lann.

Indeed, as the Demon Hunter said, it’s fortunate to have allies under these circumstances.

After losing Gwendolin, they had lost all leverage; cautiousness and suspicion now seemed extravagant.

”Have their awareness been dulled by time?”

The Demon Hunter frowned, glancing at the Silver Knights around him; indeed, only a few showed flexible movement patterns, most rigid like pre-set constructs.

”Your speed is impressive, stranger.”

Simo’s muffled voice echoed from within his armor.

”It’s a quality I lack. If you can charge the formation again and kill that witch, I will accompany you, drawing the undead knights’ attention. They are rigid, following orders.”

”Kill that witch and retreat. The undead knights without command will crash against the Silver Knights’ line until the last one falls.”

”Good idea.”

The Demon Hunter didn’t delay, tugging at the pale mane of the Qilin protruding from the horse’s harness, signaling the Ancient Dragon from the New Continent of its next target.

Simo was a more experienced hand in the city than himself, and Lann was willing to try his plan.

Once decided, they acted.

The Qilin’s start-up speed was almost instantaneously at full throttle!

The broad Magic Rune Cloth fluttered in the snowy air, trailing a shadow in an instant!

Only someone like Lann, strengthened with enhanced brain tissue as a ’Biochemical Transformation Person,’ could withstand such an abrupt start. For a normal person, the G-force would likely cause mental confusion.

And Simo didn’t let down his war experience spanning over ten thousand years.

Though much slower than the Qilin and Lann, his timing was still exceptional.

With keen eyesight, he nearly synchronized his body’s start with the Qilin, only lagging due to his slower movements.

Simo’s massive body passed straight through the rigid defense line of the Silver Knights, penetrating deep into the formation of the Undead Knights.

The large body was an easy target, and in an instant, he was surrounded by a heap of tall and skinny, mummy-like enemies.

Some of them drank some item and then, after a sound like vomiting, spewed out a droplet-shaped mass of condensed black smoke, flying towards their target.

Others extended a cold Magic Power blade from their swords and began to spin like a dance.

Simo’s actions perfectly complemented Lann’s charge.

The nimble footwork of the Qilin paired with Lann’s observational skills gave them a speed advantage, almost preventing these relentless undead of the Pope from approaching them.

Just as they had abruptly taken Archbishop Louis’s head, the towering horse and knight cast a shadow over the Pope’s Witch in the blink of an eye.

At this moment, the Pope Witch hadn’t even had time to leave the side of Louis, who had already collapsed.

”Hiss!”

There was no time for her to react.

The Qilin powered its hind legs, and the five-meter-long body reared up.

The body shrouded by the Magic Rune Cloth was exposed.

The tight muscle tissue, resilient scales, and fur... the blue and white interwoven body carried thunder, exuding a sense of nobility and elegance.

This Ancient Dragon, the Qilin, carried such a presence inherently.

”Ugh!”

The tall and slender witch in her exquisite armor suddenly saw a five-meter-high standing horse before her, seemingly about to stomp her to death.

Instantly, she sidestepped in one large step, simultaneously planting her weapon into the ground.

The weapon appeared to be a religious artifact, suitable for holding during a sermon, with long, flowing holy cloth hanging from it.

Now, as it was planted in the ground, the area where the Qilin was about to stomp suddenly turned red.

It was as if a rush of searing magma was about to erupt from the surface!

In its current upright stance and biological structure, the Qilin shouldn’t have been able to see what the ground before it looked like, let alone adapt spontaneously.

However, the eyes of the knight on the Qilin’s back had already seen through the witch’s actions.

”Profound flame, approaching the depths of the abyss... Is this the fire of sin?”

Lann watched and commented with interest.

But the witch, with her weapon stuck in the ground and her power already beyond recall, was startled.

The Qilin’s front hoof stomping was merely a feint, much like this world’s powerful warriors, Lann too was adept at tactical feints.

With a gentle twist of its hind legs, the Qilin’s five-meter-long body changed direction swiftly.

Its front hoof landed lightly, bending slightly to align the true ’main attacker’ on its back with the target.

”Clang” echoed in the somber snowy night as a bright blue lightning bolt first struck down from the sky!

While pure natural lightning is not ideal against the supernatural Power of Soul,

it was more than enough to hold the Pope Witch still for half a second.

After all, she hadn’t learned the {Deep Sanctuary} of the clergy, lacking the profound casting ability to unleash protection.

Following the immobilizing bolt that wasn’t meant to kill,

a ’click’ as the blade spring of the scabbard was pressed.

At some point, Lann’s knife, originally gripped in hand, had returned to its sheath, with only an inch of blade near the handle exposed.

And those amber cat eyes, now on level with the enemy due to the Qilin’s bending, gazed upon them as if looking at a dead person.

Indeed, the enemy was already dead.

[Heartless Secret Technique: Yixin]!

The air suddenly became dense and violent.

Blades of Qi Flow cut through the paths already carved.

The dense compression of air blades distorted the air so much that the central target was invisible!
