Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2298: Battle (7)

The Red Female Guard were all equipped with Red Condensation-grade gear.

These pieces might not have as many abilities as wheel-produced equipment, but in terms of base stats and defensive bonuses, they did surpass purple-grade items.

The Red Female Guard had always been a spearhead that Cloud Peak had painstakingly forged. From the moment Ye Zhongming rescued them and formed this battalion, it was like painting on a blank canvas. They used improved potions for evolution, the highest-grade standard equipment, each member carrying at least three or four Team Book effects, and their bloodlines, professions, and war beasts all complemented each other to maximize combat power.

Add to that their battle-hungry, death-defying mentality, and their nearly insane combat will—all of this meant that even when facing an existence like the Demon Whale, whose strength far exceeded ordinary level-nine beings, the Red Female Guard showed no fear, but rather intense excitement. It was this thirst to kill the strong that brought them back to the battlefield after having remained out of sight since Ye Zhongmingʼs departure.

So when the Demon Whale used its overwhelming power to suppress the Red Female Guard, it not only saw that these womenʼs equipment was different from othersʼ, but also caught the inexplicable smiles on their faces.

The Red Female Guard smiled at only two kinds of people: one kind—or rather, one person—was Ye Zhongming. The other kind was their enemies.

The smile they gave Ye Zhongming reflected a side of their personalities that had nearly been forgotten—the only tender moments in their lives.

The smile they gave their enemies was a declaration: I am going to kill you.

”Empower!”

”Zha Formation!”
”Ye Blade!”

Xiao Minʼs voice echoed in every memberʼs ears. The Red Female Guard immediately moved and completed their formation within seconds.

They arranged themselves in a strange formation, with multicolored lights—some bright, some dim—flashing throughout the array, and their momentum surged.

At the four corners of the battle formation, four massive, ancient-style energy blades rose.

Seeing this, Little Tigerʼs excited shout rang in the minds of everyone wearing a war medal.

”Here it comes! The big sisters are getting serious.”

He was so excited because Little Tiger was one of the few in Cloud Peak who had recently witnessed the Red Makeup Guard in action.

The opponent had been Little Tiger himself, leading ten thousand of his main cavalry.

Xia Bai had approached him for a live combat exercise. Little Tiger had agreed excitedly, leading his ten thousand men at full strength, even joining the fray personally. But the result...

His excitement said it all—he had been utterly crushed, so now he felt the Demon Whale was about to suffer too.

After all, when grief is shared, it is halved.

”The formation Little Ye sent down, the war beast empowerments, and the Team Bookʼs ultimate move...” Red Sister said with a smile.

The Demon Whale hovered in the air, perhaps sensing the threat from below, and appeared to assume a defensive stance.

The four blades in the Red Female Guardʼs formation simply floated there without moving. Instead, a fifth blade, identical to the others, appeared at the center of the formation.

After appearing, it spun once in place, then suddenly vanished, reappearing in the air, less than a few dozen meters from the Demon Whale.

The Demon Whale flapped its short wings, and a small water shield formed in front of it, intercepting the blade.

They collided with a crack, both shattering.

But soon, a second energy blade shot out from the Red Female Guardʼs formation, and the Demon Whale created a second water shield to block it.

The formation began launching these energy blades continuously, faster and faster. The Demon Whale kept blocking with water shields, but eventually, it could not keep up with the launch speed and had to resort to other methods.

It moved its body, sent out wind blades, created water walls, and so on.

The energy blades came so fast that they practically formed a continuous stream—the first blade had barely arrived when the second was already there.

The Demon Whale began to be overwhelmed, its body continuously struck, each hit tearing away flesh.

To the onlookers, it felt as if, if this kept up, the Demon Whale might be sliced into sashimi.

Also, those on the ground noticed that Xia Bai, who had been knocked away earlier, had flown back above the Demon Whale. The sea beastsʼ flying lifeforms were all intercepted by Cloud Peakʼs air force, unable to interfere with her.

Without her scythe, Xia Bai still had her fists.

She bent forward and threw a punch in the air, seemingly at nothing. But as time passed, a growing fist shadow appeared in the Demon Whaleʼs direction—not fast, but steadily advancing, steadily growing, steadily smashing toward the Demon Whale.

The Demon Whale was under immense pressure from both above and below.

”Sister Lei!”

Many called out through the war medals at this moment.

Xia Lei gritted her teeth but still refused.

What they meant was: shouldnʼt they provide some support to Xia Bai and the Red Female Guard, such as magic crystal cannon fire?

Xia Lei wanted to as well, but she feared that other attacks would disrupt Xia Bai and the Red Female Guardʼs rhythm, inadvertently helping the Demon Whale instead—that would be idiotic.

As a top-tier lifeform herself, Xia Lei understood all too well that in peer-level combat, a single small change could affect the whole.

The Demon Whaleʼs tiny eyes, relative to its enormous body, burned with rage. It let out a roar and began to phase its body, just as when it had first dodged the black scythe.

This seemed like a signal. Both Xia Bai in the air and the Red Female Guard on the ground simultaneously accelerated their attacks.

On the ground, the Red Female Guardʼs energy blade launches suddenly paused. A brand-new, colossal, entirely crimson battle blade condensed in the formation, then hurtled toward the Demon Whale with a shrill whistle.

In the sky, Xia Baiʼs fist shadow accelerated its descent, like a free-falling object, smashing toward its target with equal ferocity.

But the Demon Whale only phased its body—it did not dodge, nor did it make any defensive move.

Everyone knew it was about to attack, but no one knew what that attack would be.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment, then erupt.

The first thing everyone saw was the sky below Xia Baiʼs body, where another monster—identical to the Demon Whale—appeared upside down, its mouth wide open, lunging at Xia Bai.

At the same time, the ground beneath the Red Female Guard exploded. Another Demon Whale clone emerged, revealing its terrifying body and opening its jaws to swallow these female warriors whole!

At the Demon Whaleʼs main body, first the crimson energy blade struck its body, then Xia Baiʼs ”thrown” fist shadow smashed heavily into its head.

The entire battlefield fell silent for a moment.

Was this... the outcome?
