Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2083.5- Building a base (2)

The entire country knew that Cloud Peak would attack these sea creatures at some moment, until driving them back into the sea.

But what made everyone wait somewhat anxiously was that for a full month, Cloud Peak didnʼt take action. They only engaged in some small-scale battles with sea creatures in local areas, and the number of troops Cloud Peak deployed never exceeded one hundred thousand. Once the battle started, they never lingered, whether suffering losses or gaining advantages; they left immediately after contact. Each battleʼs duration never exceeded two hours.

People in the country didnʼt understand: even if out of prudence, there was no need to be this cautious for so long, right? Were they waiting for the sea creatures to attack actively?

Until one day, explosive news suddenly spread throughout the country.

The reason Cloud Peak delayed taking action was because... they gained three more top-tier life forms.

Xia Lei and Xia Bai successfully evolved into nine-star evolved beings. Xia Baiʼs pet, Nine Treasures, also entered the ranks of level-nine warbeasts.

By the time they woke up, the troops Cloud Peak gathered on the coast had already exceeded seven million. Many external combat teams volunteered to join the battle.

The struggle for living space between land life and marine life was about to erupt at this moment...

”Order Leader, what do you think of this design?”
Lie Jujing was the most famous designer on this survivor fortress. A few days ago, he received a strange order: to design a... well, how to put it, a building complex that was both a fortress and extremely grand and beautiful on an empty plot of land.

However, the employer only required him to design a complete and detailed virtual architectural drawing, not requiring him to oversee the construction. This made Lie Jujing very puzzled and dissatisfied.

As one of the most famous architectural designers even among the Cosmic Races, his main job was naturally design. But during construction, he was still the chief supervisor because he needed to ensure the builders wouldnʼt distort the building he designed.

The buildings from his pen pursued ultimate perfection: every direction, every angle, even every building material needed to be just right. Otherwise, one bad apple could spoil the whole barrel, making his designed building a complete failure.

Under other circumstances, he would have directly rejected such an order. But... two aspects of the employerʼs approach moved him.

One was Moonspan Gold; the payment was truly sufficient, twice his market rate. The other was that the employer said he would build this building complex into a landmark building on this survivor fortress.

A landmark! Wasnʼt this the ultimate dream of an architectural designer? If you wanted to win awards, what could you win without being a landmark building?

So, Lie Jujing accepted this task and began designing in accordance with the employerʼs requirements.

Stimulated by both money and honor, Lie Jujingʼs inspiration burst forth. In a short time, he completed the concept and initial draft, then made revisions as per the employerʼs requirements until the final draft was completed today.

Looking at his work, Lie Jujing felt this was the peak of his lifetimeʼs work. In the future, perhaps no other design of his could surpass this.

”According to your requirements, the construction is divided into three phases. Each phase will appear to be an independent project, but when completed, it will be a complete building.”

At first, Lie Jujing was very puzzled by this requirement. Since there was money, why not complete it all at once? Why divide it into three phases?

Dividing into three phases was one thing, but after each phase was completed, others shouldnʼt be able to tell there was a next phase? This was too strange.

Later, he went to inspect the site and looked up some information. Lie Jujing began to understand a bit.

According to his design, completing all three phases would require an extremely large area. But currently, this land... belonged to several families. His employer occupied less than one-fifth. That is to say, to complete the overall design, the employer needed to buy the land from others.

Under such circumstances, naturally, others couldnʼt be allowed to know first; otherwise, they would raise prices.

Ye Zhongming looked at the incredibly realistic virtual drawing and nodded with satisfaction.

Indeed, you get what you pay for. The big-money-hired designer was different. Just one look at the design could feel its unique ingenuity.

Following this designerʼs guidance, Ye Zhongming operated the light screen, revealing more detailed local areas. He felt very satisfied with everything.

”Alright, this one then. The remaining payment will be transferred to you shortly. Thank you for your efforts these past days; youʼve worked hard.”

Ye Zhongming, wearing the bronze Order Leader mask, stood up and extended his hand. Lie Jujing, who had dealt with him several times, shook hands cooperatively, though still a bit unused to such etiquette.

Seeing the other partyʼs demeanor of seeing him out, Lie Jujing couldnʼt stay long. He bid farewell and walked out, but stopped at the door, saying with hope, ”Order Leader, wonʼt you reconsider? I swear on my reputation and character that the construction team I find will absolutely be the best, definitely able to perfectly replicate my work with guaranteed quality and quantity. Regarding price, rest assured, I wonʼt take a single cent of benefit from it. What I want is just to supervise the construction of my work personally.”

”You know, for us architectural designers, this is very important, also very...”

”Designer Lie Jujing, we already agreed.” Ye Zhongming interrupted this somewhat persistent designer.

”Yes, we did agree. I just donʼt understand why you wonʼt let me participate. I wonʼt have any negative impact on your building; on the contrary, I will be the most dedicated supervisor, making your building flawless.”

”Sorry, I really donʼt need it. Perhaps if we have a chance to cooperate in the future, you can do so.”

Ye Zhongming saw him out politely but firmly refused with a smile.

”Alright, the employer is always right.” Lie Jujing helplessly gave up. After a few steps, he stopped again, asking solemnly, ”Can I know the reason?”

Ye Zhongming thought for a moment, then nodded. ”Your work will be built by the Su Clan personally.”

After seeing off the architect, Cheng Liujin and White Robe appeared together in his room.

”So eager to start building your private nest?” White Robe was now truly familiar with Ye Zhongming. He treated this place as his own room, sat in a chair, and, without ceremony, opened a box on the table, taking out a delicate, small bottle, unscrewing it, and drinking.

Ye Zhongming had never been one to suffer hardship. In the eyes of Cheng Liujin and White Robe, his lifestyle was a bit too refined.

There was no choice; these were habits formed at Cloud Peak, raised by those women. They couldnʼt be changed overnight.

For example, this small wine costs fifty Moonspan Gold per bottle, with at most three sips per bottle. Just because Ye Zhongming liked the taste, he bought three hundred bottles.

”If possible, Iʼd like to bring my people up from Earth earlier.”

Cheng Liujin shook his head upon hearing the reply. ”Only on Rescue Day can that be done.”

But Ye Zhongming shook his head. ”No, not necessarily Rescue Day. Because I know of at least one person who might have been taken from Earth to the cosmos and later sent back.”
