Alchemy Master

Chapter 43, Arrogance

Translator: Silavin

Having a good Master, whether in the Dao of Alchemy or the Dao of Martial Arts, would lead to twice the results with half the effort.

As the saying goes, a great teacher produces outstanding students.

Thinking about it now, with Qin Yichen’s achievements, the Master behind him must certainly have an extraordinary background.

“May I ask which Master you are a Disciple to?” Zhou Tianwei did not show any trace of disdain. To be able to train a sixteen year old youth to such a level, that person must be terrifying.

“Well…” Qin Yichen pretended to hesitate, then used an excuse he had used several times before, “My Master says I’m too slow-witted. Until I gain his approval, he won’t let me call myself his Disciple.”

“Uh…” Zhou Tianwei and Liu Wen’s hearts both skipped a beat. His words were like a resounding slap across their faces.

[He called this slow-witted!? Without even condensing a Divine Soul Bead, he had refined a Third Grade Pill, and even produced a First Grade Pill! How is this slow-witted? If he is, what are we then?]

Zhou Tianwei could feel her face flush. She had wrongly considered herself a genius, but perhaps in their eyes, she was nothing more than a clown.

She was very proud. But she realised that all the glory she possessed meant nothing in front of this young man.

Furthermore, this youth still had not qualified in his Master’s eyes!

Zhou Tianwei’s mind trembled violently. [Just what kind of existence is his Master!?]

Having followed Master Gu Ye, she had heard him mention that there were some Alchemists in the world with solitary and proud personalities. They disliked being constrained and liked to travel around. As for taking on Disciples, they did not look at one’s background or wealth, but acted on whim. They would casually give pointers to anyone they took a liking to, or even accept them as nominal Disciples.

Master Gu Ye was the best example.

He was born poor and relied on his talent to become an Apprentice in the Alchemy Guild. He just happened to invite a passing old beggar for a drink on a whim, and as a result, received guidance from the old beggar, leading to his later fame… where he qualified to become an Alchemy Master without condensing a Divine Soul Bead!

The young man before her probably was the same. Such an opportunity was something that could be encountered but not sought after.

Zhou Tianwei looked at Qin Yichen with envy.

“Since you already have a Master, I won’t force you.” Zhou Tianwei pondered for a moment, then continued, “However, I would like to invite you to be an Alchemy Master for my Zhou Family. You won’t refuse, right? As an Alchemy Master for the Zhou Family, not only will your status be extraordinary, but the resources you can obtain would be incomparable to what the Li Family can provide.”

Alchemy Master were people who, no matter how good their talent was, without resources, it would be difficult for them to grow.

Although the Li Family was one of the most powerful Families in Spreading Cloud City, compared to the Zhou Family in the Royal City, the gap was like Heaven and Earth.

“Be an Alchemy Master for your Zhou Family?” Qin Yichen chuckled, and under Zhou Tianwei’s stunned gaze, he shook his head somewhat disdainfully.

“Young man, don’t you know how many Alchemy Masters want to enter the Zhou Family but don’t have the qualifications to? How can you…” Seeing his arrogant attitude, Liu Wen became anxious.

Although Qin Yichen had prodigious talent, the more prodigious one was, the easier it was to die young. Being so arrogant, he would offend others!

Although Qin Yichen now had the protection of the Li Family, if Zhou Tianwei wished, forget about the Li Family, even the entire Spreading Cloud City could be easily destroyed by the Zhou Family.

Sure enough, after Qin Yichen’s refusal, Zhou Tianwei’s expression darkened.

With her status, she had already lowered herself twice to invite him. Yet, she was still rudely refused.

He was far too arrogant and conceited!

It should be known that although he had received guidance from a Master, such Masters wandered the world. How could they still remember a nominal Disciple from such a small place?

“If it is an offer to become a Guest Officer for your Zhou Family, I might be somewhat interested.” Qin Yichen’s eyes were fixed on Zhou Tianwei. His expression was calm as he spoke.

“Guest Officer?” Liu Wen, standing to the side, was speechless.

Guest Officers held extraordinary status. For example, even Li Yuanfei had to be respectful to the Li Family’s Guest Officer, Ran Rui,.

Although the Zhou Family had recruited many High Grade Alchemy Masters, none were qualified to become Guest Officers. From this, one could see that becoming a Guest Officer for the Zhou Family, one of the Royal City’s greatest, was no simple matter.

“Little Brother, to be a Guest Officer of our Zhou Family, one must at least be a Fourth Grade Alchemy Grandmaster!”

Zhou Tianwei spoke with a heavy expression, extremely disappointed in her heart.

In her eyes, Qin Yichen was just an arrogant fool. Such a person, even with talent, surely would not go far.

However, just as Zhou Tianwei was about to leave in a huff, Qin Yichen’s next words made her pause, “Living such a repressed life, aren’t you tired?”

“Qin Yichen, don’t talk nonsense!” Seeing her pause, Liu Wen felt a flash of unease and quickly rebuked Qin Yichen. Speaking like this was almost equivalent to mocking and challenging Zhou Tianwei!

Although Qin Yichen was exceptionally talented, Zhou Tianwei was no less so. Not to mention, she had the Zhou Family behind her and the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty’s top Alchemy Grandmaster Gu Ye, just Zhou Tianwei’s own strength could easily crush the current Qin Yichen.

“Special Envoy, he’s still young and talks nonsense. Please don’t take it to heart…” After glaring at Qin Yichen, Liu Wen quickly pleaded with Zhou Tianwei.

However, to his surprise, there was no anger on Zhou Tianwei’s face as he had expected.

“Tired?” A flash of confusion passed through Zhou Tianwei’s eyes, with a trace of weariness flowing in the depths of her pupils.

However, these emotions merely flashed through her eyes in an instant. It was unnoticed by anyone.

She could not relax!

She could not let anyone see her vulnerable side!

When she looked at Qin Yichen again, Zhou Tianwei’s expression changed from gloomy to solemn.

Standing in front of this youth, she actually felt as if she had been seen through.

“If you let me become a Guest Officer of your Zhou Family, I can help you live without any worries.”

Qin Yichen was not deterred by Liu Wen’s rebuke. Instead, he smiled lightly as he spoke to Zhou Tianwei, who was dressed as a man. In his tone, there was a confidence that could not be questioned.

“You’re thinking too much!” That feeling of being seen through made Zhou Tianwei very uncomfortable, even panicking a bit. She put on a cold face, “In this Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty, what could make me, Zhou Tianwei, worry!?”

[Impossible! Even Master Gu Ye hadn’t noticed my disguise, how could this youth see through it?]

“With your current strength, don’t indulge in wishful thinking!” Finally, under Liu Wen’s astonished gaze, Zhou Tianwei seemed to soften a bit.

Although she now held a crucial position in the Zhou Family, the position of Guest Officer was not something she could personally grant.

“My current strength is insufficient because I lack cultivation resources. The status of Guest Officer in your Zhou Family can provide me with some of the resources I need. So, think it over carefully.”

Qin Yichen chuckled, his words showing no attempt to hide his intentions. He patted his robes and walked towards the exit.

As he passed by Zhou Tianwei, he paused slightly, then whispered something in her ear. It instantly made her stand there as if she got struck by lightning. She could only watch him leave in a daze
