Alchemy Master

Chapter 13, The Willful Young Mistress

The Pill Furnace!

It was an indispensable tool for Alchemy.

Everyone knew that the higher the Grade of the Pill Furnace, the higher the purity of the Medicinal Liquid refined. If refining Pills, the higher the Grade of the Pill Furnace, the higher the success rate of the Pills, and the higher Grade Pills could be made.

The reason for this was that the Pill Furnace was not only able to gather fire, but its main function was to make Spiritual Energy more concentrated!

Spiritual Energy was ethereal and usually scattered. Even Alchemists who had condensed a Divine Soul Bead had scattered and unfocused Spiritual Energy, so when refining Pills, they had to use a Pill Furnace.

The higher the Grade of the Pill Furnace, the more it could amplify their Spiritual Energy!

Qin Yichen’s move undoubtedly showed his mastery over Spiritual Energy.

He was an Alchemy Disciple who had not even condensed a Divine Soul Bead, yet he had refined a medicinal herb without the aid of a Pill Furnace. He had even achieved such a high purity!

Therefore, even Li Yuanfei was dumbfounded as he watched this scene.

This much talent, this level of attainment, could only be described as terrifying!

“I am no match.” Even Ran Rui, an Alchemy Grandmaster, sighed.

Although he was one of the top Alchemy Grandmasters in Spreading Cloud City, even with the aid of a Pill Furnace, the Medicinal Liquid he refined was at most around the Fifth or Sixth Grade. If he did not use a Pill Furnace…

As for Li Yuanfei, his attitude towards Qin Yichen changed from mere valuing to complete respect!

Valuing meant treating someone as useful to oneself. Before this, perhaps only Ran Rui had the treatment of being respected by him.

Obviously, Qin Yichen’s current status was now completely on par with Ran Rui, no, above him!

“Father!” A voice like a nightingale rang out, and then a figure in green walked into the main hall from outside.

She was only fifteen years old, tall and slender, with a graceful figure. Hair was as black as lacquer, skin like jade, beautiful eyes, and delicate eyebrows. She wore a pale green silk dress and walked lightly and quickly, without any of the graceful demeanour of a young lady from a big Family.

After Li Yuanfei looked at this young lady, his face clearly showed a doting expression. He then gestured, “Yan’er, you came just in time. This is Grandmaster Qin. The Grandmaster just arrived. Take him for a walk around the courtyard so that he can look around and familiarise himself with the place.”

“Grandmaster Qin?” Li Lingyan sized up Qin Yichen, who was obviously a few years younger than her. She pouted and said, “Father, why are you calling this brat a Grandmaster?”

“Yan’er, do not be rude!” Li Yuanfei stopped her and glared at her. “Are not you going to apologise to the Grandmaster?”

“Hmph!” Li Lingyan snorted lightly and turned her head away, not buying into it at all.

“It’s fine.” Qin Yichen rubbed his nose bridge somewhat awkwardly and cupped his hands towards her. “Miss Yan’er, I am Qin Yichen. You can just call me Yichen.”

Back when he first came to the Li Family, he had followed behind this Li Family’s Young Mistress for a long time as an attendant. Although she had a strange temper and was willful, she treated her own people extremely well. She even treated Qin Yichen like her Younger Brother.

“Are you really the Alchemy Grandmaster my Father keeps mentioning?” After leaving the main hall, Li Lingyan circled around him, her bright eyes full of doubt and disbelief.

After all, he was too young. She did not believe that he was more talented than her!

She was known as the most talented Alchemy Disciple in Spreading Cloud City.

“Patriarch Li has overpraised me. I have not even condensed my Divine Soul Bead yet, so how can I be a Grandmaster?” Qin Yichen scratched the back of his head.

If it was about the mastery over Spiritual Energy, he indeed surpassed the Grandmaster level, but in terms of the Grade of his Spiritual Energy, he was still a Disciple. Otherwise, he would not be unable to refine even the most basic Pills.

“You do not look like it either, hmph.” After looking at Qin Yichen a few more times, Li Lingyan mumbled with her small mouth, then rather arrogantly took him on a stroll around the Li Family’s main courtyard.

With her attitude, Qin Yichen felt that he had probably been labelled as a fraud in her heart.

“Miss Yan’er, thank you for your hospitality. I’ll head back first.” After strolling for a little while, Qin Yichen felt it was pointless and proposed to take his leave.

“What’s the rush? Are you feeling guilty?” Li Lingyan, however, took his reaction as something from a guilty conscience and said in a rather teasing tone, “Not far ahead is my Li Family’s Medicine Building. You’re a Grandmaster, so I wanted you to give me some pointers?”

“Well…” Seeing her staring at him, Qin Yichen had no way to refuse and could only nod and follow behind her.

Just turning a corner, a strong fragrance of medicine wafted over with the wind. Qin Yichen looked up and saw a courtyard that had been specially isolated. The walls of this courtyard were very high, and one could not see the scenery inside from the outside. Around it, many guards were patrolling and moving around, and the defence was very strict.

“Young Mistress.” Seeing Li Lingyan arrive, the few guards standing at the entrance of the courtyard called out respectfully in unison.

Li Lingyan did not say anything and directly led Qin Yichen inside.

Inside was a medicinal herb garden, and in the middle of the garden was a three-story pavilion.

Entering the pavilion, she directly brought Qin Yichen to the second floor.

This was the floor dedicated to the Li Family’s many Alchemy Disciples. Only by becoming a true Alchemist could one go to the third floor.

Although Li Lingyan was the Li Family’s Young Mistress, she could still only be active on the second floor.

The second floor did not have independent rooms, just an extremely spacious main hall. In the main hall, there were more than a dozen young men and women each tinkering with something.

Seeing Li Lingyan bringing someone up, a few of them raised their heads, and when their gazes fell on Qin Yichen behind Li Lingyan, the expressions of a few young men visibly changed.

They were puzzled who exactly this unfamiliar young man was.

“Sister Lingyan.” At this moment, a young man who looked about twenty years old walked down from the third floor. Seeing Li Lingyan, his rather handsome face had a thick smile. Obviously, the fact that he could come down from the third floor proved that he was already a true Alchemist.

“It’s Xiao Licheng.” Seeing him, the few young men on the second floor all had envious and jealous faces.

Xiao Licheng, although not a member of the Li Family, was an Alchemy Prodigy the Li Family had recruited. Among the younger generation, even in the entire Spreading Cloud City, Xiao Licheng could rank in the top three. Naturally, no youngster in the Li Family could compete with him.

“It’s him.” Qin Yichen naturally remembered this person who was once the Li Family’s most outstanding Alchemy Prodigy.

This Xiao Licheng was far from being a good person. Although he was now flattering Li Lingyan, the Li Family’s Young Mistress, and frequently expressing his love, in fact, he was also doing it to obtain more resources from the Li Family.

For such an excellent prodigy, Li Yuanfei naturally valued him. At that time, he almost exhausted the Li Family’s strength to cultivate him.

However, Qin Yichen remembered that this fellow eventually abandoned the Li Family that had nurtured him and chose to marry into a big Family in the Royal City, nearly bringing a great disaster onto the Li Family.

It could be said that he was someone who would resort to any means to achieve his goals.
