Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 658, The Upheaval in the Valley of Life

Translator: Silavin

“A Rootless Dragon that left the Valley of Life?” All the Giant Dragons were greatly startled, while simultaneously showing expressions of joy.

However, immediately afterwards, this joy dissipated.

Lu Fan could discern many things from their expressions. It seemed that their survival in this small Secret Realm was also involuntary.

Most likely, they wished for more Giant Dragons to come and support them, which was why they had dispatched personnel to provide support and rescue when he was being pursued by that Four Headed Dragon Carcass.

However, when Lu Fan revealed his identity and purpose, while they were delighted to have another companion join them, they also knew that one or two Giant Dragons could not actually resolve their current predicament.

After all, outside the Valley of Life, Lu Fan had seen the Dragon Carcasses of Adult Giant Dragons, numbering more than ten.

The Giant Dragons that had died but had not been seen by him were certainly more numerous than that.

And presently, Lu Fan was a Human, so his Combat Power could be imagined.

The accompanying Ye Sha was obviously still a Juvenile Dragon, whose Combat Power was far too inferior to that of an Adult Dragons.

Their rescue of Ye Sha was not solely to increase the strength on their side, but more out of the inability to bear seeing their kind get killed by those strange beings.

As for the Rootless Dragon that left the Valley of Life… not to mention that he was not here, Lu Fan was merely commissioned by him to come.

Even if that other Rootless Dragon came, what could he do?

Previously, dozens of Giant Dragons had died, leaving only these four remaining. The despair these four felt was understandable.

Lu Fan also did not know how this Secret Realm was formed, or how it could be opened.

However, it was easy to tell that once this place was opened, these four Dragons would certainly find it difficult to escape death.

Presently, Lu Fan still did not know what kind of upheaval the Valley of Life had encountered. Nevertheless, being able to meet these few Giant Dragons who harboured no great malice towards him was already an extremely fortunate matter.

At least Lu Fan could inquire of them to see what exactly those strange beings outside were.

Before this, Lu Fan naturally had to proactively state his purpose for coming.

“A Starry Sky Dragon commissioned me to come here to find the Life Dragon King – Root of Everything. He is a Rootless Dragon that previously lived here, later leaving this place to wander in a place called the Ancient Starry Sky Path, and later…”

Lu Fan briefly described the situation of the Starry Sky Ancestor, and even produced the Star Stone, declaring that he had come here to seek a method for him to live a second life. As a result, upon arriving here, he had witnessed such a scene.

After hearing Lu Fan’s side of the story, the Two Headed Dragon showed a contemplative expression, and after a long while said. “This Star Stone does feel very familiar to me. According to my knowledge, the number of Starry Sky Dragons produced by our Valley of Life should number around ten or so. The one he speaks of, is someone I have an impression of. It seems like when I was still in my Maturing Phase, he had already left the Dragon Domain to venture outside.”

“What this Human says should indeed be true. But, unfortunately, your wish to find Mother to obtain a Life Fruit to let him live a second life will probably be difficult to fulfil. We are already struggling to protect ourselves here.”

Lu Fan asked. “What exactly happened to the Valley of Life? Why has it become like this? The Starry Sky Ancestor said that dozens of Giant Dragons lived in the Valley of Life. What kind of being could have turned the Valley of Life into such a state?”

“What being?” The Two Headed Dragon bared its teeth, its expression full of helplessness.

Just at this moment, another unfamiliar voice rang out. This voice belonged to an extremely mature woman, revealing profound gentleness.

“Let me tell him about this matter.”

Lu Fan was startled, looking at all the Giant Dragons here, not knowing who was speaking.

Just as Lu Fan was puzzled, all the Giant Dragons rose to their feet, prostrating themselves on the ground respectfully, bowing towards the giant tree beside them.

Immediately afterwards, the branches of this tree began to twist and stretch, finally transforming into something that was partially a tree and partially a Dragon!

The massive Dragon Head extended down from the high tree canopy, larger than all the Giant Dragons present.

However, such a massive and strange body did not give Lu Fan any sense of oppression, possibly because the other party bore no ill intent, possessing only magnificent Life Essence.

One head of the Two Headed Dragon lifted up, saying somewhat anxiously. “Mother, why have you awakened? Your roots have already been withdrawn from the Valley of Life, with absolutely no nutrition to absorb. Presently, you must also maintain this Secret Realm. If you do not rest properly, you might not be able to wait for support…”

[This is the Life Dragon King!?] Lu Fan was greatly shocked, never having imagined that the Life Dragon King would be so strange. Rather than being called a Dragon, it was more like a great tree with some resemblance to Dragons. [The Dragon Race is truly peculiar.]

The Life Dragon King did not know what Lu Fan was thinking, responding to the Two Headed Dragon through spiritual vibration. “Support… will probably not come. Several Children have already left the Secret Realm, wanting to seek support from the Dragon Domain, but there has been no response. Those Children have either died within the Valley of Life, or found other Giant Dragons, but no one is willing to come to the Valley of Life. If anyone has the intention to support us, the other Giant Dragons would have come long ago. We would not have had to wait until now, where not a single Dragon has set foot in the Valley of Life for so long.”

“This… Haaaa…” The Two Headed Dragon sighed deeply. Although unwilling, it also knew that the facts were indeed so.

“You need not be disappointed either. At least, the decayed Valley of Life has still welcomed other friends, has it not?” The Life Dragon King’s tone was relaxed, seeming to view everything with equanimity.

She looked towards Lu Fan, while a vine-like branch extended from the tree, arriving before Lu Fan.

“Do you wish to know what happened to the Valley of Life? Grasp it, and I shall let you see with your own eyes.”

Lu Fan hesitated for a moment, finally grasping the branch.

The instant Lu Fan grasped the branch; a peculiar force travelled through the branch into his mind.

His vision blurred, and a scene appeared.

The scenery in this scene should be the Valley of Life before the incident occurred.

Birds sang and flowers bloomed in peaceful tranquillity.

In the sky, Giant Dragons even flew past from time to time, living harmoniously together without any conflict.

This was absolutely a paradise, only accessible to the Dragons.

However, immediately afterwards, accompanied by a tremendous sound, a massive space rift was torn open.

From within the massive space rift, strange purplish black Monsters madly surged forth, entering the Valley of Life.
