Chapter 816: Chapter 305: Mirror of Waves (Double Combined Chapter)

On the top floor of a building in the administrative hall, four or five armed guards lay around, their faces frozen in terror.

Exeter and Bergis, meanwhile, gazed down from above at the enormous phantom of a young boy that had suddenly appeared at the center of the Minter trading district.

“Great Priest, is it appropriate to let Freeman control the Gaze of the Eye?” the tall Bergis asked respectfully.

During Exeter’s ‘retirement’, Freeman had been vying for power with him, even surpassing him at times, which had left Bergis with a considerable grudge against Freeman.

And now, handing over the ancient evil artifact ‘Gaze of the Eye’ that he had painstakingly retrieved to Freeman for control made Bergis feel uncomfortable.

“Why worry?” Exeter smiled and said.

“He has managed to divert a significant portion of Minter’s forces for us. Isn’t that a good thing?”

“But this guy is eager to climb the ranks…”

“Bergis, it’s actually good to have ambition. It gives one the drive to get things done.”

“Besides, if it were you drawing the attention of the Empire and the Goddess Church, after the ritual here is completed, would the blessing from the Great Hunting God be for him?”

“M… Master, do you mean that I could also enjoy this ritual’s…” Bergis said excitedly, his face showing surprise.

“Of course, Bergis, do your best. I have faith in you!” Exeter patted Bergis’s broad shoulder and said.

“As you command, my lord!” Bergis bowed in salute after receiving Exeter’s affirmation.

Just then, they saw several Griffin Knights swiftly flying towards the location of the evil spirit from a nearby griffin platform, and from the administrative hall came two teams of elite guards, a knight carrying a large hammer on his back, and a white-robed wizard.

“It seems we can move now.” Exeter nodded, watching the scene.

“Master, the people of the Empire are truly foolish. Such a simple trick worked twice!”

“Haha, that just proves how effective it is, doesn’t it?”

…

Two minutes earlier.

In the first row of the viewing platform, two people stood up. One was the Punishment Knight Brandel, whom Rein had met once.

The other, whom Rein did not know, was holding a gray wooden staff and wearing a white wizard robe. After Neoro’s introduction, he realized this was the advisor to the Duke of Minter, a second-level Liquidized Wizard.

Both left quickly in succession, presumably to deal with the giant evil spirit incident Rein had just heard about.

The Duke of Minter then slightly adjusted his demeanor and walked up to the stage with a smile to give his speech:

“On the last Sunday of the Month of Green Grass, I, on behalf of our great Emperor…”

“You are the young talents of the Empire… I hope you can contribute your strength to the development of the Dragan Empire… Next…”

“Hehe!”

At that moment, mocking laughter echoed around the hall!

This abrupt laughter was clearly a provocation against the Duke of Minter.

The audience couldn’t help but look around, trying to identify who dared to interrupt the conferment ceremony at this moment.

“Indeed, a contribution is needed, but not to the Dragan Empire, rather to the Great God of Hunting!” a deep voice sounded.

The voice, spatially immersive, made it impossible to pinpoint its exact source.

“It’s the Black Flame Church!”

“They’re quite bold!”

The mention of ‘God of Hunting’ immediately enlightened many present.

The uninvited guests turned out to be from the Black Flame Cult!

And the trusted aide who reported earlier came rushing in, looking anxious as if there was something urgent to report.

The Duke of Minter also listened keenly, but in the next moment, a dagger flew at lightning speed aimed at the Duke of Minter’s abdomen.

“Clang!!!”

The dagger struck something incredibly hard and was deflected, causing the Duke’s formal attire to tear apart, revealing a dark golden knight armor with a unique coiling serpent pattern underneath.

“Assassin!!” The guards immediately drew their longswords and shields, surrounding the Duke of Minter protectively.

The scene turned chaotic.

“The Armor of the Coiling Serpent, I never expected it to be on you.” The trusted aide suddenly pulled off a human skin mask, and his aura changed instantly.

“Exactly!” The Duke of Minter, unexpectedly calm at the appearance of his opponent, smiled slightly and continued:

“Exeter, Great Priest of the Black Flame Church! I’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Using the same trick twice, should I say you’re confident or foolish?”

Exeter also smiled and said,

“Oh, Duke of Minter, you seem confident. What makes you think you have a chance against me?”

“Do you think I don’t know that your son, the Titled Knight—’Bavarian Lance’ Halowin, has secretly gone to the Imperial City?”

“And just now, your advisor and that Punishment Knight from the Goddess Church have gone to eliminate the evil spirit.”

“Do you think, nearing quasi-legendary, you can stop me?” With each word, his aura grew stronger!

At this moment, a loud voice interrupted Exeter from the back of the hall.

“And me!”

Admiral Edward, familiar to Rein, entered the hall from the farthest end, clad in his dark knight battle armor and wielding a sword and shield.
