Chapter 200 – 147 The Scenery is Uniquely Beautiful from This Angle

[Beast Affinity lv1 (Passive): As Beast Tamers have dealt with wild beasts for years and are familiar with their habits, they find it easier to gain the favor of unfamiliar wild beasts.]

[Beast’s Eye (Active): The beasts under your command serve as your loyal eyes and ears.]

“Eh!”

“I’ve actually obtained two core skills; this seems to be the first time I’ve gotten the core skills of a Transcendent profession.”

This was somewhat unexpected for Rein!

He saw that the words ‘Dog Trainer’ on the original panel had changed to ‘Beast Tamer’, and the entire panel had turned green.

Although the difference seemed minor, its significance was anything but minor!

One was a common profession, the other a Transcendent one.

Below the panel title, aside from the original icons, such as ‘Dog Food Production’ and ‘Dog Training’, two new icons had lit up above these.

Rein first focused his attention on one of the icons.

The pattern of this icon depicted a person sitting cross-legged on the ground, beside a tiger lying down, suggesting a harmonious coexistence between humans and fierce beasts.

Beneath it, a line of small print appeared:

[Core Skill: Beast Affinity lv1 (Passive)]

Beast Affinity lv1 (Passive) Effect: When you come into contact with strange wild beasts, you have a certain chance to gain the beast’s favor, and the success rate of taming unfamiliar wild beasts is slightly increased.

(Note: The effect of Beast Affinity is positively correlated with the host’s Spirit; the stronger the spiritual power, the better the effect.)

Beneath this icon was an experience bar, clearly indicating that Beast Affinity was a skill that could be enhanced by adding points.

“However, at present, this core skill doesn’t seem to be very useful!”

Rein crossed his arms and rubbed his chin lightly, contemplating the potential applications of this core skill.

“If, one day, I were to fight in the forest or do something else, this core skill might actually be useful.”

“But once removed from environments like forests teeming with wild beasts, this core skill seems somewhat useless…”

“Oh well, there’s no rush to add points to this skill for the moment; I can decide later on.”

Rein shook his head slightly, feeling a little disappointed with this core skill.

Then, Rein shifted his attention to the neighboring icon, which resembled the big eyes of an owl.

Another line of small print appeared beneath it:

[Core Skill: Beast’s Eye (Active)]

Beast’s Eye (Active) Effect: Control the beasts under your command and observe the surroundings through their perspective.

(Note: The duration of Beast’s Eye is positively correlated with the host’s spiritual power; the stronger the spiritual power, the longer the duration.)

The system’s description was clear and straightforward.

Rein immediately understood the important significance this active ability might have for him.

For example, in certain scenarios, Rein could use the eyes of a beast to observe the environment and conduct reconnaissance; its utility was self-evident!

Moreover, Rein noticed right away that there was no experience bar beneath this icon.

Meaning, the active skill Beast’s Eye couldn’t currently be enhanced by adding Skill Points.

However, Rein felt that this ‘Beast’s Eye’ was stronger than the first core skill ‘Beast Affinity’, or rather, it had a much wider range of practical applications.

Immediately, Rein walked over to the window of the storage room.

From his second-floor window, Rein could see a fully-grown greyhound wagging its tail, following Lagaray back and forth, as if it were ‘coveting’ the large bowl of savory meat Lagaray was holding.

Rein smiled at the scene and immediately used the newly acquired skill ‘Beast’s Eye.’

The moment the skill was activated, Rein felt a special change in his spiritual power.

It was as if a radar station was emitting electromagnetic waves all around, and swiftly, through some kind of radiation, Rein’s mind locked onto his greyhound ‘Cookie’.

Instantly, Rein felt as if his soul had projected itself into ‘Cookie’.

Looking up, Rein saw a large, round buttocks in front of him, swaying as it walked forward. Although the buttocks were large, their movement was not excessively jiggly, indicating firmness.

Hisss!

Rein immediately realized he was looking at Lagaray’s voluptuous buttocks through ‘Cookie’s’ dog eyes.

He wanted to move his gaze away at once.

But the next second, Rein felt that he couldn’t look away; he needed to maintain ‘Cookie’s’ original state so as not to attract attention.

At that moment, the courtyard downstairs was busy with Night Watchmen moving furniture and cleaning up, going in and out.

So Rein kept this posture, following behind Lagaray’s buttocks, walking a distance and deeply experiencing the effect of this new core skill!

“Tsk tsk…”

“The effect of this core skill… really accentuates the front and back!”

“No, that’s not right, it’s impressive!”

After sustaining it for a while, Rein began to vaguely feel a significant drain of spiritual power from his physical body.

Just as he was reluctantly thinking of ending this first trial of the new skill, he saw Anna suddenly walk next to Lagaray, gave ‘him’ a strange look, and said something.

Seeing Anna’s odd gaze, Rein immediately terminated his first attempt at using the new skill ‘Beast’s Eye’!

In an instant, Rein’s soul felt like it had returned to his own body.

At that moment, his perspective returned to looking down from the second-floor storage room window, his heart still slightly nervous as though he had been caught doing something bad.

“Did you see how Cookie was looking at you? It felt off, almost lewd…”

“And the part it was staring at…” Anna said to Lagaray with a hint of confusion.

“Hmm?”

After hearing Anna’s words, Lagaray turned her head to look at ‘Cookie’ and saw its dumbfounded expression, which made her laugh.

“Anna, you’re thinking too much. Cookie is staring at the meat in my hand; it must be the angle.”

“Eh!”

“Its eyes weren’t like this just now!” Anna turned around to confirm again, only to find that ‘Cookie’s’ gaze had suddenly changed.

It seemed to have returned to its original, normal state.

This made her quite puzzled.

You see, as Anna practiced basic meditation, she found her perception becoming sharper and sharper, especially towards animals and plants…

As for ‘Cookie,’ it was stunned for a moment, shook its dog head, apparently puzzled by why its consciousness had suddenly blanked out for a while…

“Woof woof!”

Cookie barked twice and then, as if sensing it, turned to look at the second-floor window; it could feel its master, Rein, watching it from there.

At this time, Rein was pondering two issues about the new skill ‘Beast Eye.’

The first issue was about skill activation.

At the moment of activating ‘Beast Eye,’ there was actually a considerable distance between him and ‘Cookie.’

He had just connected with and sensed ‘Cookie’ through a kind of ‘radiation’ similar to electromagnetic waves.

Its essence relied on the consumption of his spiritual power.

So, it seems that it’s better for him to have ‘Cookie’ by his side the next time he activates this skill.

That way, he could save a significant amount of spiritual power, which could then extend the duration of the skill.

Because the saved spiritual power could be used for maintenance.

The second issue was that after using ‘Beast Eye,’ Rein could only see; he could not hear the conversations around ‘Cookie.’

Of course, he couldn’t use ‘Cookie’s’ sense of smell, which was thousands of times superior to humans’, to assess the surroundings either.

That’s when Rein looked at the system prompt on the panel.

Right after the job transfer prompt, a new row of prompts appeared:

[You have crafted a Mutant Growth Potion, insight has improved!]

[You have learned a new skill – Mutant Growth Potion Crafting]

[Your skill in Mutant Growth Potion Crafting has improved, Experience +30]

[Focusing on Mutant Growth Potion Crafting, your Beast Tamer (Transcendent) class experience +12]

…

“Is every secret potion crafting a new skill?”

“This is quite similar to the Blacksmith profession!” Rein thought to himself.

After his job transfer to Beast Tamer (Transcendent), agility +1, spirit +1, now Rein’s spirit had reached 19 points.

Name: Rein Carlan

Occupation: Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) lv4 (132/1000) / Knight (Transcendent) lv3 (389/500) / Beast Tamer (Transcendent) lv1 (12/100) / Blacksmith lv4 (329/1000)

Constitution: 18

Strength: 16

Agility: 16

Spirit: 19

Remaining attribute points: 1

Remaining Skill Points: 2

Additionally, something that Rein noticed was that on his Knight (Transcendent) class panel, the breakthrough percentage had gone from 45% → 51% due to the continuous increase in attributes.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

“Knock knock knock!”

“Brother, it’s time to eat; everyone is waiting for you.” Bo He’s crisp voice came from outside the door.

“Alright, Bo He, I’m coming.” Rein stopped his contemplations, opened the door, and quickly walked out.

When Rein, leading his sister Bo He, walked downstairs, he saw that the long solid wood dining table in the living room on the first floor was full of sumptuous foods.

Around the long table, Matteo and seven or eight Night Watchmen were sitting on one side, while Old Rein, Mother Emma, Anna, and Lagaray were on the other, with two empty seats reserved for Rein and Bo He.

In addition, two of the Night Watchmen whom Rein recognized were bustling back and forth between the kitchen and the dining room, tirelessly serving drinks; the atmosphere was lively indeed.

The housewarming dinner was enjoyed amidst joyful spirits.

“Matteo and all Night Watchmen colleagues, I’m very grateful for everyone’s help today. To be honest, I’m embarrassed that I barely contributed to the moving process.”

“Tonight, please eat and drink well!” Rein raised his glass and thanked everyone with a smile.

“Deputy Commander, you are too kind!”

“Indeed! It was just a little favor!”

…

“Come! Let’s all raise a glass to our young Deputy Commander!” Matteo raised his glass and said with a laugh.
