Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 386: Chapter 285: Challenging the Great

Standing on the riverbank, Isaac raised his index finger, feeling the Magic Power flowing past his fingertip. He narrowed his eyes slightly. ’The world of the Wilderness Dungeon is descending into chaos...’

’It seems the predicament of humanity in this world is quite severe.’ According to the Empire’s records, during the previous openings of the Endless Tower, the powerful individuals who were pulled in had a very low desire for combat. The vast majority of fights were internal conflicts among the participants themselves.

After all, a world that limited one’s upper potential yet forcibly gathered all Transcendents was a rare opportunity!

Every time the Endless Tower opened, a few behemoths would be shattered!

But the Wilderness Dungeon today seemed different. Based on the rough information he sensed from the Magic Power, there was very little ”internal strife.” Most of the fighting was against local factions.

Isaac rubbed his fingers together and glanced around before his body transformed into a streak of light, shooting toward the horizon.

Extracting information by gathering data from the Magic Power in the natural world was a basic Skill that any High-level Mage could perform. Naturally, one couldn’t obtain much useful information this way; it was only suitable for emergencies.

To understand the specific situation, he still needed to go and see for himself.

Before long, Isaac arrived at the nearest human settlement—a massive Magic City!

He silently entered the Arcane City, which was filled with the aura of Magic, immaculately orderly, and sat solidly on a vast plain. A thin Magic Barrier enveloped Isaac, completely concealing his form and aura.

Walking through the Arcane City, Isaac watched the smiling pedestrians who carried three enormous weapons on their backs—a sword, a shield, and a staff. His eyes filled with astonishment, because he could actually sense Extraordinary Power emanating from them!

Furthermore, most of them had reached Tier Two, with a few even reaching Tier Three!

’So, this is the power of a Tier Four Grand Arcanist?’

’How terrifying!’

Although they had not yet met, and he didn’t know the identity of the Grand Arcanist who had built this Arcane City, it didn’t lessen Isaac’s admiration for him. This had nothing to do with the man’s actions; it was purely Isaac’s admiration for the Grand Arcanist’s Knowledge.

Isaac, after all, had studied the special factor within the bodies of this world’s humans. While his research hadn’t been too in-depth, he knew just how troublesome it was. If it had been him, he absolutely could not have achieved such results in just a few short years!

All he could say was, as expected of a proper Tier Four Grand Arcanist!

This man was different from Isaac, who had taken a shortcut. The path of an Arcanist had no shortcuts; one could only advance step by step, with feet planted firmly on the ground.

Back then, both Isaac and his older sister Cheryl had thought it a pity that Isaac lacked the talent for Magic Power and couldn’t walk the path of an Arcanist. In reality, however, if Isaac had truly chosen that path, he never would have progressed so quickly, even with the help of his Golden Finger!

This was because the path of the Arcanist, unlike that of the Legendary Mage or the Witch, had no shortcuts. The Arcanist’s path was very simple: learn and research!

Aside from that, the only shortcuts that existed were found in special Great Creations like the Endless Tower.

For instance, for a Grand Arcanist to advance to Tier Four, they must first learn and improve a Tier Four Arcane Art while still at Tier Three. Only then can they be promoted to Tier Four!

One could say that Arcanists embodied the famous saying ”Knowledge is power” to an exceptional degree!

’What a pity...’

Looking at the smiling pedestrians, Isaac sighed softly.

A pity that even a Tier Four Grand Arcanist couldn’t completely solve the problem here.

Although Isaac considered himself inferior to this Grand Arcanist in terms of research ability, when it came to using cheats, he believed he was second to none. After all, his had never been turned off. And for Isaac, the greatest benefit of this cheat was his discerning eye!

Especially in research, that glaring zero percent was simply too obvious.

Although transferring the special factor in human bodies to special weapons allowed them to walk the Path of the Extraordinary and even possess a powerful, growing Demon-Breaking Weapon, there was a catch!

This special factor would also grow rapidly along with the human’s overall strength. Sooner or later, the weapons would no longer be able to suppress it, and it would once again nullify the human’s Extraordinary Power!

While the Grand Arcanist was present, he could help them constantly adjust their weapons and properly guide the special factor so it could be better contained. But what if he were no longer around?

He couldn’t stay here forever. Besides, even if he did, it would be meaningless. It would only postpone the inevitable result, and only for a time.

Because this was a law set down by the Great Wizards!

A supreme, inviolable law!

At the very least, a mere Tier Four Grand Arcanist couldn’t possibly ignore it.

Therefore, despite his surprise, Isaac didn’t dwell on it for too long. He focused more on observing how these humans lived and how the city functioned.

By the time Isaac walked out of the Arcane City, he had a rough understanding of the situation. It was about what he had expected: the Arcane City’s operational model was still based on the Adventurer’s Town model from the Real World.

That is, with the tavern as the core, Adventurer teams are formed to complete quests, earn money, and then use that money to buy living supplies. Finally, the money flows back out in the form of quests, completing a very basic and simple economic loop.

The difference from the Real World was that many parts of this cycle had been replaced by the Grand Arcanist. For example, he was the one who issued most of the quests at the tavern, and the living supplies also came almost entirely from him.

After all, for a Tier Four Grand Arcanist, handling things like production was as easy as breathing.

Furthermore, the quests in the tavern were mostly focused on clearing out Underground Palace Demons and collecting Demon Materials. Compared to the wide variety of quests in the Real World, it was indeed a bit monotonous.

But this was indeed the most suitable method for this world, and Isaac was prepared to do the same.

The difference was, his city would not be bound by taverns with Adventurers as its blade. Instead, it would be bound by Sects, with Faith as its blade!

But what would be the same is that his city would have more than one Sect!

After all, he could control more than one Virtual Deity. Managing one city was certainly easier than managing two. And besides, he was ambitious!

He wanted to see if his [Miracle] could overcome a part of this Great Creation that was the Wilderness Dungeon—specifically, one of its rules!

Yes, the Great Wizards were supreme; he admitted that much.

But that didn’t mean Isaac wouldn’t dare to challenge them!

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have thrown out so many uncontrollable Virtual Divinities before going into seclusion...

However, it was still a bit early to talk about that. The current priority was to first condense two Virtual Divinities of the True God alignment, build the prototype for the [Underground Palace City], and then develop it step by step in that direction.

In any case, the Endless Tower would remain open for a long, long time~
