When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 214: Chapter 90: Top Star of the 1960s Art Troupe (29)_3

She lowered her head slightly to hide her bashful expression, curiously flipping through them.

Huo Tianhao explained quietly from beside her, ”This is the marriage fund my mom saved up for me.”

”This one is what I saved up myself before my accident. The other two are from my salary and benefits after I joined the transportation team.”

”I don’t have many expenses on my own, so I’ve saved up most of the money.”

”Oh, right, we also have an imported motorcycle we can sell for cash anytime. If you like houses like this, I’ll start looking around to see if I can find a suitable one.”

The amount in each passbook was substantial, all in the four-figure range. Altogether, it was over ten thousand yuan!

”So much?” Xia Zhaoyun couldn’t help but gasp.

A ”ten-thousand-yuan household” in this era was something that even a multimillionaire from a future generation couldn’t compare to!

”Yeah, being a driver is a lucrative gig,” Huo Tianhao explained with a smile. ”But don’t worry, honey. Every cent of this money was earned legitimately. Just spend it however you like.”

With her eyes curved into happy crescents, Xia Zhaoyun took out the passbook she had made a special trip to the city for, along with the two hundred yuan she had just won from the Golden Microphone competition, and placed them all together.

Her sweet, accepting gesture made Huo Tianhao’s throat tighten. He couldn’t resist pulling her against the wall and pressing his body into hers.

His domineering, masculine presence enveloped her, and she could feel the raw intensity of his desire.

Xia Zhaoyun clung to him, feeling his tender affection. It was a kind of precious, all-encompassing care—as if he was holding her at the very center of his heart—the likes of which she had never experienced before.

Hot tears suddenly streamed down her face.

Huo Tianhao froze. He slowly released her and wiped her cheeks. Seeing her beautiful, tear-streaked face and pitiful expression, he felt a pang in his chest, a feeling that made him want to bare his entire soul to her for the first time in his life.

”Why are you crying? We’re a married couple. This kind of intimacy is just an appetizer...”

Xia Zhaoyun bit her lip, silent. But the more she heard him coaxing her in that soft, almost submissive tone, the more her overwrought tears flowed, refusing to be controlled. They just kept streaming down her face.

Huo Tianhao couldn’t wipe them away fast enough. He finally put on a mock-stern face and said playfully, ”Stop crying. If you keep crying, I’ll just have to kiss you again!”

Xia Zhaoyun buried her head in his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his lean, firm waist.

Her voice was thick with emotion as she asked softly, ”Brother Hao, are we... are we really married?”

”We’re husband and wife from now on?”

Huo Tianhao savored the feeling of the beautiful woman in his arms. He was practically radiating joy, a grin stretching from ear to ear.

”Of course! We’ve already registered our marriage. You even made a point of showing the certificate off to everyone in the family compound. How could it be fake? Later, on our way back from dinner, we’ll have to stop by the co-op to buy some wedding candy for the neighbors to share in our joy.”

”Comrade Xia Zhaoyun, let me tell you, these two certificates were approved by the organization. We’re a married couple, which means we’ll be sharing a bed from now on. Don’t you go thinking this is just an act for outsiders!”

”If you... if you’re not ready for this, I can wait. But my patience is limited. After all, you were the one who agreed to register the marriage. I won’t allow you to be a deserter when it comes to our marriage.”

Xia Zhaoyun didn’t know if it was the heat from his chest or his constant talk of ”sharing a bed” and ”being ready” that was making her blush, but her face was so red you could fry an egg on it.

”I...” She bit her lip, her voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz. ”I wasn’t planning on being a deserter.”

”It just feels like a dream. In the span of a few days, I became a mother of two, and now I have a husband. I just haven’t been able to mentally process it all.”

Huo Tianhao smiled. ”I’m not doing much better than you.”

He leaned in close to Xia Zhaoyun’s ear and whispered, mimicking her quiet tone, ”But tonight... we can find out together whether or not this is a dream...”

Xia Zhaoyun really couldn’t handle how he acted one way in public and a completely different way with her in private. Blushing, she pushed him away.

Huo Tianhao held onto her hand, not letting go. He stopped teasing her. ”Honey, did I scare you?”

”I can’t help it. Very few men can keep their composure when they’re with the woman they like.”

Xia Zhaoyun looked at him, asking with a mix of curiosity and nervousness:

”Brother Hao, before you met me... had you never thought about... this sort of thing?”

Having come here with memories from a future generation, she knew perfectly well that when men had free time, their conversations always revolved around a few topics: current events, careers, having fun, and women.

She refused to believe that in the transportation team, when the drivers were on break, sitting around with cigarettes dangling from their mouths, this topic never came up.

Huo Tianhao brought her hand to his lips for a kiss and said with a smile, ”I’d be lying if I said I’d never thought about it at all.”
