When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 194: Chapter 84: Top Star of the 60s Cultural Troupe (23)

”Brother Hao, a person’s looks and voice don’t last forever. Maybe after you spend more time with me, you’ll find I have too many flaws you can’t stand.”

”When that happens, if we can’t make it work, it would be better not to have started at all.”

Huo Tianhao raised an eyebrow. He switched to her other hand and continued trimming her nails. ”Tell me, what are these flaws of yours?”

”I...” Xia Zhaoyun choked. ’Of course, I think I’m perfect in every way.’ ”I’m too beautiful. It’s obvious I’m not the type to settle down. You’re always on the road driving, leaving me at home alone with the kids. Aren’t you worried?”

”Oh, about that,” Huo Tianhao said with a smile. ”I was just about to bring it up. Since I’m planning to get married now, I’m not going to be a long-haul driver anymore. I’ll just be a technician at my work unit. The pay will be less, but you won’t hold that against me, will you?”

”I...” Xia Zhaoyun was about to bite her lip in thought, but he caught her chin. ”I lie too much. Don’t you hate being deceived?”

Huo Tianhao raised an eyebrow. ”I can allow for some white lies. Of course, I also won’t give you a chance to deceive me. Go on!”

”I love to dance, and I don’t want to have children and ruin my figure!” ’This was probably a reason most men in Xiahua would never accept. Without a son to carry on the family line, why would they marry a wife? Just to have her as a decoration?’

”Don’t we already have two kids at home? If you don’t want to have more, I won’t force you.” At this, Huo Tianhao held her and let out a muffled laugh. ”Honey, I didn’t realize you were thinking so far ahead, already pondering whether or not to have my children.”

”It’s my fault, as your future husband. I’m a few steps behind you...”

Xia Zhaoyun froze. ’That... that’s not what I meant!’

Seeing her dumbfounded and adorable look, Huo Tianhao’s heart melted completely. He tentatively leaned in, his lips brushing against hers. ”You don’t hate me, do you?”

Xia Zhaoyun quickly covered her mouth, a mix of embarrassment and annoyance welling up inside her. But she had to admit, she didn’t feel any repulsion toward him.

Huo Tianhao rested his forehead against hers and chuckled softly. ”I know we’re moving a little fast. But, for some reason, I just feel like you’re my destiny. Every minute and every second apart is torture for me.”

”Do you think I only fell for your looks? Are you afraid that I’ll get tired of you someday and see you as a burden?”

”Am I that shallow in your eyes? Or do you have that little confidence in yourself?”

”Marriage is a gamble. Can you really say someone else would definitely be better for you, or a better fit than me?”

He pulled her into his arms and sighed with satisfaction. ”I believe that just as distance tests a horse’s strength, time reveals a person’s heart. Let’s leave it to time to see if we’re right for each other.”

”Be good. Go back and get a letter of introduction, and we’ll go get our marriage certificate the day after tomorrow.”

”Comrade Xia Zhaoyun, I don’t play games or act ambiguous. Liking someone means liking them. We’ve kissed and we’ve held each other. If we don’t get married after that, it’s just being indecent.”

”I’m such an upright and decent person. You’re not going to lead me astray, are you?”

”I know you don’t know me well enough yet and you’re worried about your future security. So, I’ll write you a prenuptial agreement. We can get it notarized and filed at the notary’s office.”

Before Xia Zhaoyun could say anything, Huo Tianhao set her aside, eagerly fumbled for a pen and paper from his pocket, and began writing furiously with his head down.

Xia Zhaoyun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. This man was so forceful, leaving no room for refusal.

All her worries, concerns, and fears were thrown into disarray by his actions, making them seem flimsy in comparison.

Besides, she had only been twenty-six or twenty-seven when her previous life ended. Even after decades spent as a Ghost Cultivator, Xia Zhaoyun couldn’t help but hold on to a tiny sliver of hope for love.

’This man... he really meets all of my criteria. Should I take a brave step forward and give it a try?’

Xia Zhaoyun’s thoughts were a tangled mess, but she curiously craned her neck to see the agreement he was writing.

Huo Tianhao was truly racking his brain, writing down every scenario he could think of. All the money in his passbook would be her betrothal gift, the house assigned by his work unit and the one from the Zhaoyang Clothing Factory would belong entirely to her, and all his future wages would be handed over to her...

In other words, if they couldn’t make the marriage work, he would be the one kicked out with nothing.

He didn’t know much about women, but he believed that finances were the foundation of everything. Financial power determined one’s status in the family. He wanted to give her everything he possibly could.

He even included situations he had seen destroy other couples’ relationships, creating a safety net for her from every possible angle.

When Huo Tianhao finished writing, he handed it to Xia Zhaoyun. ”Honey, check if I missed anything. We can add it all in.”

”We’ve both suffered from unhappy families, so we know better how to cherish the person in front of us and the people who love us.”
