When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 79: Chapter 47

”Are you still not done?” Zhu Yun, her eyes hazy with sleep, stepped forward to hurry him along. ”Is it that hard to calculate? It’s fine, really. We can just put it off for a few days. That’ll give me time to train the other chefs anyway.”

Chu Shenyu pulled her into his arms and lovingly pecked her smooth, pink cheek. ”I’m already done. I’m just worried about you rationing everyone’s food, only letting them eat until they’re seventy percent full. Aren’t you afraid they’ll cause trouble?”

”Growing boys can eat you out of house and home. When they get hungry, they’re like little calves. They’ll definitely act up if they don’t get enough to eat. Besides, a lot of the factory workers are young people, eighteen or nineteen, and every one of them has a huge appetite.”

”The main thing is that other places let you eat your fill. If we restrict their portions, there’s going to be trouble sooner or later.”

Zhu Yun shook her head to clear it, then said with a proud smile, ”Mr. Chu, you’re a top-tier technician at the factory; there’s nothing that can stump you. But when it comes to cooking, you’re no match for me.”

”With the same amount of food, I can make people feel like they’re fifty percent full, seventy percent full, a hundred percent full, or even one hundred and twenty percent full.”

This was the first time Chu Shenyu had ever heard such a thing, and he couldn’t help but ask, ”How do you do that?”

Zhu Yun wrapped her arms around his neck, raised an eyebrow, and continued to smile. ”Serve your little mistress well, and maybe I’ll tell you.”

Chu Shenyu’s gaze deepened. He already had no resistance to her whatsoever, and now she was actively teasing him. The fire inside him was like a flame licking dry straw; in an instant, it flared with the power to scorch the heavens and destroy the earth.

In the end, looking at the woman who had fallen into a deep sleep, exhausted, with a moist sheen at the corners of her eyes, he couldn’t help but chuckle. ”I really fell for your tricks!”

Chu Shenyu had already calculated the data Zhu Yun needed and had written it all out with detailed notes.

Zhu Yun rubbed her aching lower back. It was a blissful yet agonizing feeling. ’Men really shouldn’t be provoked,’ she thought. ’Once they get a taste, they have no self-control.’ She wondered how many other wives couldn’t get out of bed because their husbands had eaten their fill the day before and had all that excess energy to burn.

’So, you can’t let people get too full. They’re more likely to cause trouble when they’ve eaten their fill!’

By the time Zhu Yun arrived at the cafeteria, the head chefs from the four cafeterias had already been assembled by Director Wang on the small training ground next to Cafeteria No. 1. It seemed training soldiers ran in the family; Director Wang was also putting the group of burly men and matronly women through a few minutes of drills.

The chefs from Cafeteria No. 1 were already completely won over by Zhu Yun, as they had witnessed her meteoric rise since she started. But the head chefs from the other cafeterias were listless, their eyelids drooping. The directors and deputy directors of those cafeterias, in particular, were extremely lax and unwilling to cooperate.

’We’re all head chefs. Who among us, working at a factory like this, doesn’t have a few signature dishes?’

’How big of a difference could there really be?’

’What’s more, she’s so young, and most importantly, she’s ridiculously beautiful. The general consensus was that she had connections.’

’To put it bluntly, she probably slept her way to the top. Otherwise, how could a little slip of a girl be put in charge of all four cafeterias?’

’Give us a few pointers? As if we need any advice from her!’

’Who the hell does she think she is?’

The more they thought about it, the more they believed it. They were grown men being treated like monkeys for someone’s amusement. A fire of anger began to smolder, but they were afraid of losing their jobs. If they didn’t let it out, though... a head chef’s temper, built up over so many years, was nothing to joke about.

Zhu Yun walked forward. Before Director Wang could say anything, a tall, skinny man with hooded eyes spoke, his gaze cold. ”Well, well, look what we have here. A new leader with quite the attitude, making all of us wait for her.”

Director Wang frowned and reprimanded in a low voice, ”Director Gao, this is the factory’s decision. It doesn’t matter how many years you’ve been old-timers here. If your skills can’t measure up to Director Yun’s, then you have to follow orders!”

Director Gao sneered, ”Culinary skill is hard to judge. Some people are good at meat dishes, others are good at vegetable dishes. You can’t just compare her strengths to our weaknesses, can you?”

Zhu Yun pressed her lips into a small smile. ”Then why don’t you, Director Gao, use your specialty, and we can have a little competition?”

Director Gao looked at her coldly. Though he knew she was extremely beautiful, his eyes didn’t hide his disgust in the slightest. ”Wouldn’t that be an unfair victory for me?”

”How could it be?” Zhu Yun, her hands behind her back, glanced casually at the crowd. ”Director Gao, you yourself said that culinary skill is hard to judge. If your other dishes aren’t as good as mine, and even your most prized dish isn’t as good as mine, then tell me, who would be the better chef?”

Director Gao scoffed and said with great arrogance, ”There’s no such hypothetical!”

Zhu Yun smiled faintly. ”Director Gao, I’m a simple person. My only good quality is that I’m very reasonable. The leadership appointed me as a deputy director to assist Director Wang. If you’re dissatisfied with me, you’re more than welcome to take my place. After all, none of us are getting paid to do nothing. If you don’t have real skill, you shouldn’t take on such a demanding job.”
