Chapter 3325: Chapter 3326: Knockby’s Awakening

”The cake tastes more delicious?” Luigi repeated softly and suddenly thought of something, raising his head to look at Angel.

Angel also met Luigi’s gaze.

From their eyes, they both saw the same meaning.

”So, it seems that the so-called ’unknown variables’ really pertain to food making?!” This was exactly the meaning that Angel and Luigi were guessing, but the speaker was the Dog Deacon.

The Dog Deacon had also heard Angel’s explanation to the cat ear earlier on, and now upon connecting the dots, made a judgment completely consistent with theirs.

The Dog Deacon: ”How about we make a dish and see, maybe then we’ll see the difference?”

Facing the Dog Deacon’s invitation, Angel was indeed somewhat tempted. To witness any specific changes, just preparing a dish might suffice.

But after thinking about it, Angel still refused. The reason is the same as before; to be safe, it’s better to go back to the Heart Space to conduct the experiment.

Since there seemed to be no other changes for now, and the cat ear’s fluffing had little impact on him, once Angel voluntarily waved the flag of retreat, the people did not continue this topic.

Although the topic ended, the Dog Deacon did not let go of Angel, constantly glancing at him.

If someone else were watching him, Angel wouldn’t mind. But since the Dog Deacon can read minds and keeps glancing at him, Angel began thinking in some strange directions.

And this scene was also seen by Luigi.

However, Luigi was very aware that since the Dog Deacon had promised Laplace it definitely wouldn’t use mind-reading on Angel. The reason it kept looking at Angel, Luigi could most likely guess as well.

”Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking, it’d be better if you forget your thoughts of asking Angel to help you rebuild.” Luigi blocked the Dog Deacon’s gaze, raising an eyebrow.

Luigi’s words made the Dog Deacon’s expression quite awkward. It also side-indicated that the Dog Deacon was indeed thinking about how to ask for a rebuild while staring at Angel.

”But Little Red can do it, why can’t I?” The Dog Deacon looked very aggrieved. If it had a white flag in paw, it probably would’ve waved it.

Luigi: ”Angel helping Little Red rebuild is reasonable and justified, but you wanting the rebuild lacks any reason.”

The Dog Deacon: ”How come I don’t have a reason?”

Luigi sneered: ”Then tell me, what is your reason?”

The Dog Deacon thought for a moment and stammered, ”At least I’m a deacon, often meeting prominent figures...”

Before the Dog Deacon could finish, Luigi interrupted: ”Are you sure prominent figures dare to meet you?”

The Dog Deacon: ”If big figures don’t come, at least their assistants will; they also represent big figures.”

Luigi snorted without further interruption, but his eyes still showed disbelief, with a look of ’let’s see how you make this up.’

The Dog Deacon: ”If I wore the earrings to meet these prominent figures, wouldn’t it be embarrassing? Besides, even if it’s not the big figures, like Sipolov, if he saw me wearing flower earrings, and it got spread around, I’d be really embarrassed.”

Keenly pointed out by the Dog Deacon, Sipolov immediately raised his hand and spoke up: ”I, I swear by the Heart Fire, I absolutely won’t spread it!”

Upon hearing this, satisfaction flashed in the Dog Deacon’s eyes. It was also using this opportunity to alert Sipolov, and seeing Sipolov being so perceptive, it was quite pleased.

However, Sipolov aside, when the Dog Deacon once again looked at Luigi, its eyes turned to grievance once more.

Luigi, however, completely ignored its expression and said indifferently, ”Those earrings are not a mandatory accessory. If someone comes to meet you, you can just take them off.”

”You don’t usually leave the Everything House, and you won’t run around with the earrings. You don’t need to worry about other people’s glances.”

The Dog Deacon showed a bitter expression: ”But... this would also cost you face.”

”You know the relationship between us. If I lose face, isn’t it also losing your face?”

The Dog Deacon secretly pointed out that they are Temporal Bodies, although now on different paths, they were once intimately one multifaceted body.

However, Luigi was completely unperturbed by this, still responding with a cold expression: ”Others don’t know about my relationship with you. Your embarrassment has nothing to do with me, besides, I’m quite happy to see you embarrassed.”

So resistant to persuasion, the Dog Deacon felt truly helpless.

While the Dog Deacon was racking its brains, trying to find a new reason to counter Luigi, Luigi spoke up first: ”I don’t care what reason you have, even if you really need to change the Log-in Device’s appearance, I only have one thing to say to you...”

”If you want a change, just wait for the Log-in Device to go on sale and buy a new one yourself.”

Luigi raised his eyebrow: ”You wouldn’t be unable to afford the Log-in Device, would you?”

The Dog Deacon was speechless this time. Luigi was determined not to let it exchange, so it could only secretly keep glancing at Angel, hoping Angel would voluntarily help.

However, Angel coincidentally had a small interruption, fully ignoring the Dog Deacon’s gaze.

This little interruption was actually quite simple. Little Red, after putting on the cat ear Log-in Device and admiring itself in the mirror, enthusiastically prepared to test the effect.

To ensure Little Red had a more complete experience, Angel was guiding Little Red on what needs to be done and what to avoid after entering the Crystal Origin of Dreams.

Angel explained very thoroughly, especially on how to deal with encountering the Immortal Realm and other matters.

He particularly emphasized the ”when in doubt, offline for refuge” eight-character proverb.

However, just when Angel was almost finished explaining, he suddenly felt movement inside the bracelet, one of Heideland’s tentacles broke through the bracelet space, appearing in the outside world.

Although Heideland quickly withdrew the tentacle, the fleeting light purple glow still caught Angel’s attention.

He instinctively probed his spiritual power into the bracelet space to see what happened.

As soon as the spirit tentacle entered the bracelet space, it saw Heideland waiting aside. In Angel’s puzzled gaze, Heideland floated near a cage covered by a black cloth.

A light purple tentacle gently lifted the corner of the black cloth.

A little mouse, full of fear, appeared before them.

Without a doubt, this little mouse is Knockby.

It had been running on a wheel without rest at the original seller’s place, its exercise was too excessive; already very exhausted, coupled with seeing the spiral pattern like a curse on the sharp fruit, it immediately passed out.

This faint lasted four hours.

Finally, it now awoke.

However, upon waking up, it first saw the floating purple Heideland, which was the first time in its life seeing ”snot monster,” it frightened it into squealing.

This was probably the reason, disturbing Heideland’s viewing, thus it released the tentacle, catching Angel’s attention, and led him inside.

”I understand, thank you for the reminder.” Angel extended a spirit tentacle, gently petted Heideland, and expressed his gratitude.

Although Heideland did not respond, Angel could perceive a trace of lightheartedness from its emotions.

It seems Heideland also sensed Angel’s gratitude.

Heideland floated back to its ”home,” continuing with its grand movie-watching plan. Meanwhile, Angel picked up the mouse cage, opened the space constraint, and took it out of the bracelet.

This all happened in just a few seconds.

Others didn’t even notice Angel, except for Little Red, who noticed Angel seemed to pause for two seconds, but soon Angel recovered. Along with this recovery, a cage covered by cloth appeared on the table.

Little Red’s initial focus was on the log-in device, but the appearance of the cage instantly drew her attention.

Not only Little Red, but Luigi, Laplace, Sipolov, and Dog Deacon also turned their gazes over.

Among them, Sipolov and Dog Deacon were still unaware of what happened, but it seemed unlikely Angel would take out a cage for no reason, so there must be some trick inside?

As for Luigi and Laplace, although surprised, the moment they saw the cage, they immediately guessed the reason: ”Has Knockby awakened?”

Angel nodded to Laplace: ”Yes, I just discovered it has awakened.”

While speaking, Angel removed the black cloth covering the cage.

With the disappearance of the black cloth, everyone saw inside the cage the frightened little mouse... Knockby.

Knockby had already been scared once by Heideland before, and after the cloth blocked the light, its emotions had barely recovered, but now it got startled again.

Directly scared, it started scurrying around the cage.

”Is this... an invention mouse?” After observing Knockby, Dog Deacon called out its species: ”It looks a bit like Pififi, but Pififi shouldn’t be this jumpy.”

”So similar to Pififi, it must be a direct descendant of Pififi?”

Dog Deacon looked at Luigi, trying to get an answer from him. But Luigi didn’t even glance his way, instead saying to Angel, ”You better stay a bit farther away.”

Angel: ”Huh?”

Luigi pointed to Knockby, who was almost scared to urinate in the cage: ”Didn’t you see, you scared it...”

Angel: ”It’s just encountering an unfamiliar environment for the first time, don’t worry, it will recover soon.”

Luigi shook his head: ”No, it’s you who scared it.”

As he spoke, Luigi walked over, picked up the cage in front of Angel, and placed it ten meters away from Angel. Moreover, he blocked Knockby’s line of sight with his body.

Only then did Knockby slowly calm down, squatting in the corner of the cage, gasping for air.

The effect was immediate!

Seeing this scene from a distance, Angel: ”...”

”What’s going on?” Little Red, Dog Deacon, and Sipolov were utterly puzzled. They initially thought this invention mouse was suddenly frightened by the unfamiliar environment, but was it really scared by Angel?

Did Angel do something terrible to it? How could it be frightened like this?

Luigi sighed and pointed to the cat ears atop Angel’s head: ”It seems the bristled new ears not only change the cake’s taste but also greatly increase the intimidation level for this type of mouse.”

With Luigi’s remark, Angel came to his senses.

He also remembered the intimidation effect of the cat ears on the invention mouse; this had actually happened before.

But with the cat ears atop his head, Angel couldn’t see them himself, and since the cat ears were illusory and had low presence, Angel always neglected them.

For a moment, he completely forgot about Knockby’s fear of the cat ears.

”So it was afraid of the cat ears. I’m wearing cat ears too; will it be afraid of me?” Needless to say, it was Little Red with the ahoge cat-ear log-in device speaking.

Upon learning that Knockby feared the cat ears, Little Red’s eyes sparkled with an unknown light, her expression radiating pure mischief.

Angel: ”You can give it a try to see if it fears you.”

Though Little Red proposed, in fact, Angel also wanted to know whether Knockby feared only the cat ears on his head or all cat ears.

After getting Angel’s consent, Little Red quietly approached the cage, moving to Knockby’s blind spot.

After confirming Knockby had caught its breath, Little Red giggled and jumped in front of the cage.

A big face suddenly entered Knockby’s vision.

Knockby froze, the little mouse was instantly petrified, falling straight into the cage.

Seeing this, Little Red froze for a moment, a bit bewildered, saying, ”Did I scare it to death?”

Luigi glanced at Knockby and shook his head: ”No, it’s pretending to be dead.”

Sure enough, after Luigi pointed out that Knockby was playing dead, its stiff body, with all four feet pointing upward, tentatively softened, finally flipping over and curling up in the corner, shivering.

Seeing this, Little Red instinctively wanted to get closer for observation, but as she approached, Knockby’s trembling became more pronounced.

”It seems it also fears you,” Luigi said. ”It’s afraid of all things related to cats; with you wearing cat ears, it’s also wary of you.”

Little Red: ”Then I’ll take off the cat ears and try again.”

No sooner said than done, Little Red unhesitatingly removed the ahoge cat-ear log-in device, set it aside, and then reached out, attempting to touch Knockby through the cage.

This time, Knockby did not evade, and Little Red successfully touched Knockby’s soft, milky white short fur.

Although Knockby still appeared scared and trembling, it was evidently much better than before when it was scurrying around the cage.

Luigi rubbed his chin, muttering softly, ”It indeed fears anything related to cats. However, comparing just now, even with Little Red wearing cat ears, it fears Angel the most.”

When facing Little Red, even if it played dead, once exposed, it could regain its vigor.

But when facing Angel, it genuinely used all its strength to escape.

The reason, probably, is that the cat ears atop Angel’s head are completely connected to his aura.

Whereas Little Red’s cat ears are merely an illusory facade.
