Warlock Apprentice

Onassis nodded without hesitation, ”No problem, his appearance earlier was an accident. Although my primary persona holds all the rationality, it retains some emotions to connect with the alternate persona. During the match with Trom, I was injured and couldn’t fully control these connecting emotions, which let him emerge from deep within my heart.”

Now his emotions have gradually returned to their place, and he is able to suppress the alternate persona.

Angel looked into Onassis’s eyes and could tell that he was not lying.

With that in mind, Angel nodded, ”Alright then.”

With Angel’s consent, Onassis breathed a sigh of relief, gazing at Angel with a look of anticipation and curiosity. He too wanted to know, where exactly was his alternate persona hidden?

Onassis had guessed countless possibilities, even thinking Angel would bring out some kind of Alchemy Tools to release the confined alternate persona.

However, Angel just casually stretched out his hand and gently knocked on the tabletop with his knuckles, following the crisp sound. Suddenly, Onassis found himself frozen in place, and the previously undetected alternate persona appeared directly in his consciousness.

Now, Onassis did not pursue where the alternate persona had been earlier, but closed his eyes and began to suppress it.

A few minutes later, Onassis opened his eyes.

”Is it over?” Angel asked.

”It’s over,” Onassis nodded, his gaze still pure and clear, not turning blood-red. Clearly, as he said, he had successfully suppressed the alternate persona.

”That’s good.” Angel stood up, ready to leave now that Onassis’s situation had stabilized.

As Angel walked towards the door, turning his back on Onassis, Onassis hesitated for a moment before calling out, ”Sir, may I ask a question?”

Angel stopped, turning his head to look at Onassis.

”The wilderness you spoke of earlier, where is it?” Initially, Onassis had thought Angel’s mention of the wilderness was metaphorical, imbued with philosophical significance. But after accessing memories from his alternate persona, he realized that it truly was in a vast wilderness, walking with the sun behind him.

Although the alternate persona lacked rationality, the feelings were not mistaken. Onassis shared the perceptions of the alternate persona; the vast wilderness felt as real as any, seemingly existing in some corner of the world.

But could such a wilderness truly exist? Onassis analyzed it and felt something was amiss. After all, the alternate persona was merely a fragment of consciousness and could hardly exist independently, let alone perceive the gentle breeze and warm sunlight so vividly. It was as if his alternate persona possessed its own independent body.

For this reason, Onassis was extremely curious about where Angel had placed his alternate persona.

”Where do you think it is?” Angel countered with a question.

”It seems real, yet it feels like an illusion...” Onassis shared his inner confusion, ”Because my alternate persona cannot possibly conjure a physical body out of thin air.”

Angel smiled upon hearing Onassis’s response, ”Perhaps under the distant starry sky, the Cloudvine flowers are truly blooming quietly.”

Angel replied to Onassis using a phrase from ”The Voice That Cannot Be Heard.”

Existence is perceived. Since Onassis perceived its existence, who can deny it exists?

Having finished speaking, Angel deactivated the Illusion Technique Barrier set up in the room, opened the door, and walked out, leaving Onassis alone to quietly contemplate the question of ”existence.”

After coming out of the medical room, unsurprisingly, he saw Melisa and the others waiting outside.

Melisa thought Angel would stay inside for a long time, but unexpectedly, Angel came out in less than ten minutes. The time was surprisingly short.

”How did it go? Was it unsuccessful?” Although Melisa was inquiring, her spiritual power tentacles had already extended into the medical room. At that moment, Onassis was still deep in thought contemplating ”the feeling of existence,” and Melisa did not immediately notice anything unusual.

”It seems he is still daydreaming,” Farina observed the situation inside the room, then turned to Angel, ”Is there a problem?”

Angel had not yet responded, but Hydra spoke up, ”It’s been resolved.”

Melisa and Farina turned their heads to Hydra simultaneously, Melisa said with a hesitant tone: ”Does the Observer mean that his main personality has woken up?”

Hydra nodded, the head on the far left aligning with Angel: ”It seems the Transcendental Wizard really has a way to solve his problem, it looks like my intuition wasn’t wrong.”

Angel smiled faintly: ”It’s just Mentor’s blessing.”

Hydra also smiled on the left, but the smile was loaded with deep meaning: ”Was it really taught to you by the Illusion Demon, Sir?”

Angel’s eyes flickered: ”Of course.”

The left head opened its eyes, the black abyss of its eye sockets looking somewhat eerie: ”I’ve said before, my left head’s intuition is very accurate.”

Hydra left only this remark and then turned its head without saying anything else. But Angel understood, probably Hydra had already figured it out, he just passed the buck to Sanders.

Being perceived by Hydra’s intuition, there was nothing to be done about it.

Angel didn’t really care. However, the ability of a Prophecy Wizard, it indeed makes one itch with curiosity.

While Angel was talking with Hydra, Melisa and Farina had already entered the medical room.

Before long, they came out, followed by Onassis who had regained his senses.

This time, everyone present saw that Onassis’s eyes were no longer blood-red and shining, but a normal color, and he wasn’t muttering strange words. Upon coming out, he first bowed to Angel: ”Thank you for your assistance, my lord.”

Angel nodded in response.

Onassis then moved behind the members of the medical team and looked at Trom with heartfelt gratitude: ”Thank you.”

Previously, when Onassis’s alternate personality occupied the body, he had used every available method to seize a few seconds where his main personality could break through. At that time, Trom was the only one who noticed his condition, so he sent a distress signal to Trom.

If Trom hadn’t reported the situation to others, it probably wouldn’t have gone so smoothly, so Trom was indeed someone Onassis needed to thank.

Trom scratched the hair at the edge of his deerstalker hat, looking somewhat embarrassed: ”It was nothing.”

However, Onassis solemnly took out a crescent-shaped agate stone from his pocket and handed it to Trom: ”This is my token of gratitude.”

Trom paused for a moment but accepted it. Agate stone could help a wizard concentrate better during meditation, being a kind of rare mineral. However, its value wasn’t particularly high, so Trom accepted it.

Seeing Trom accept the agate stone, Onassis bowed his head and softly murmured: ”A gift bathed in moonlight, is my far-off offering.”

Trom didn’t understand what Onassis was talking about, but as his words fell, Trom distinctly felt the agate stone in his palm emit a faint yet lustrous light, as if, in a daze, he really was holding moonlight in his hand.

Trom didn’t understand the meaning, but Angel understood Onassis’s words.

The inherent significance of the phrase, in truth, wasn’t anything special. It was akin to the noble elegance of ”you give me cassia branches, I give you moonlight”, hinting at a ”mutual growth.”

It was clear that Onassis approved of Trom, thus under the pretext of ”mutual growth,” he offered a handful of moonlight.

However, the origin of this phrase was quite interesting.

It came from ”Banquet Dance Charm”, the adult opera that Lady Mirror had persuaded Angel to watch at Night Demon City’s Fragrance Grand Theater.

The plot was outrageous and the performance daring, truly jaw-dropping.

Angel hadn’t expected that Onassis also knew this phrase.

Truly a well-read man, even in such an opera he could find... well, philosophy.
