Warlock Apprentice

At the moment when Sabel obtained the power, he seemed to hear Sharp-toothed Ku whispering in his ear, ”This is power, do you feel it? Do you want to obtain even greater power? Then release it, release it...”

The words of Sabel made Colares stunned for a moment: ”In other words, Sharp-toothed Ku tempted you to release more power through power?”

Sabel nodded.

It was precisely because he sensed the consciousness of Sharp-toothed Ku that he tightened the channel of his power, avoiding the path set by Sharp-toothed Ku.

When Sabel withdrew his power, his eyes returned from pitch black to their normal clear delineation of black and white. At the same time, he did not hear Sharp-toothed Ku’s voice anymore.

Obviously, it was only when he released his power that the consciousness of Sharp-toothed Ku could act mischievously as the seal loosened.

”I understand now, I will record it immediately,” said Colares as he and the other researchers got up from the ground, dusted themselves off in a slightly disheveled manner, and left the observation room.

Outside the observation room, Frode said softly, ”Just like with Shalu before, although the Demonic Fiend is suppressed, it knows very well that whenever a Demon Hunter releases more power, its seal will loosen, and eventually, it will completely occupy the Demon Hunter’s body. Thus, when Sabel released his power, it immediately began to guide and tempt him.”

Angel shook his head, ”If Sharp-toothed Ku had a clear logical consciousness, its intelligence would have been demonstrated in earlier tests, but it was not the case. This means that before entering Sabel’s body, Sharp-toothed Ku probably did not have such strong logical thinking. The voice perceived by Sabel should be just Sharp-toothed Ku using Sabel’s consciousness to think.”

”The Demonic Fiend uses human consciousness to think?” The researchers around who heard their conversation were shocked and doubtful.

Angel nodded, recalling the situation with Shalu, he had this speculation. Now it seemed, this possibility was quite significant.

”This is just the performance after the Demonic Fiend has just entered Sabel’s body. Over time, I believe the logical thinking of the Demonic Fiend will evolve on its own. By then, it may not even need to borrow Sabel’s consciousness to think independently.”

Angel’s words sounded like an alarm bell in everyone’s ears.

Dealing with an intelligence-less Demonic Fiend was already difficult; if, as Angel said, the Demonic Fiend could also evolve and learn, then that was too terrifying.

Frode, noticing the fear on everyone’s faces, reassured them, ”As long as Sir Sabel can resist the temptation, remain true to his heart and always control Sharp-toothed Ku, then even if it evolves a logical consciousness, it will still be under control.”

The crowd fell silent, taking in Frode’s words, yet also more keenly aware of the importance of Demon Hunters.

Demon Hunters carry both hope and despair.

They are the front line of defending their homeland, but they may also become the last straw that breaks it.

The relationship between the Demon Hunters and the Demonic Fiends decides the future.

Angel did not pay attention to the diverging thoughts of the others, and continued, ”Next, we will test Sir Sabel’s improvement in combat strength.”

Frode also nodded, ”The magnitude of his improvement is clear to all. However, to transform it into combat power, further training is needed.”

When Frode said this, his gaze turned towards Tullas, ”Starting from today, you will accompany Sabel in Demon Hunter adaptation training.”

Tullas was reluctant. In the past, he would have been happy to duel with Sabel to redeem his previous loss. But now, Sabel had become a Demon Hunter, with greatly increased strength! To say it was training for adaptation with Sabel, it was actually like being a sparring partner, and he might even become a punching bag.

However, this was Frode’s idea, and he could not defy it, so he could only look at Angel pleadingly, ”I definitely can’t beat that stinky old man now. How about I merge with a Demonic Fiend too?”

Tullas had hope in his eyes; he really wanted to try merging with a Demonic Fiend.

Angel directly shook his head, ”No.”

Tullas still had a Soul Body in reality and was not a true resident of the Dream Realm. Without systematic research, Angel would not let Tullas take the risk.

”Then I refuse to do it. I can’t beat him, and I am not going to torture myself,” Tullas could not help but resist weakly.

Frode said, ”It’s just assistance in training, I believe Sir Sabel will be measured.”

Unable to merge with a Demonic Fiend and not daring to refuse the orders, Tullas was bound to end up as a punching bag for a while prior to bringing his strength from reality into play.

...

Sabel was originally the leader of the Sin Hunting Group, and now that he had become a Demon Hunter, this made it even more fitting for his role. However, due to the importance, danger, and unpredictability of Demon Hunters, everyone dared not immediately proceed with the second fusion of Demonic Fiends.

The researchers unanimously agreed to first obtain data on the Demon Hunter from Sir Sabel and information on the Demonic Fiend. They would ensure that it was safe before slowly expanding the number of Demon Hunters.

Thus, in the following period, besides adapting to his newfound strength, Sabel would also be subject to data checks by the researchers and several rounds of daily psychological intervention therapy, out of fear that he might be tempted by the Demonic Fiend.

At this time, because there was no need to suppress the Demonic Fiend, Angel once again took a hands-off approach and returned to reality.

However, Angel had not completely let go.

The sealing of Demonic Fiends within the body was a unique Power System of the Wilderness of Dreams. Angel was now daily engaged in research with Sanders on how to construct another Power System for the Wilderness of Dreams.

And also, whether this unknown Authority built upon the Power System could be sustained by them. After all, when Frode tried to bear the ”Celestial Alternation,” he failed.

To prevent the loss of this Core Authority, it is naturally important to be completely error-free.

According to Sanders’ own calculations, if he were simply constructing a Power System based on Primordial Magic, he should be able to bear it.

However, this is just his own speculation. Who knows what the unknown Authority that constructs the Power System would be like?

Just like ”Celestial Alternation”, originally thought to be a minor Authority that alters rain and snow, who knew it would involve the Law of All Things, the change of seasons, and the Elemental Laws of wind, thunder, rain, and lightning, among others.

Therefore, many factors still need to be considered.

As time passed, another day went by. Angel was still in the study, calculating the carrying capacity of the unknown Authority.

Just as Angel was deeply engrossed in thought, there came a knock at the door.

Angel opened the door and found it was Butler Number One knocking.

”Young Master Pat, there is someone here to see you.”

”To see me?” Angel furrowed his brows and extended his spiritual power beyond the manor. When he saw who it was, a flicker of understanding crossed his eyes.

After a short while, in the grand hall.

Angel looked at Greya sitting opposite him: ”Why are you joining in the excitement?”

”After all, I’m from the Candy House, I came to check up on the situation.” Greya replied, holding some unknown food in her hand and stuffing it into her mouth as she spoke.

Angel: ”...” I think you’re less concerned and more here to follow the gossip.

Moreover, not only did Greya come, but Sharley also followed behind her... Luckily, Asaz didn’t come.

Angel sighed in his heart, ignoring Greya and the others, instead turning his attention to the main subject—

”Did you find out anything in Paradow City this time?”

The visitor was Allen, who had learned three days ago that Irene might have gone in search of ”Sea Night Dew” and set out for Paradow City alone. He had been out of contact for the last few days.

Now that Allen had come to the manor, it must be about Irene, so Angel directly asked.

Allen first shook his head, then nodded: ”I went to Paradow City, and indeed found some clues about my sister, but the clue has been lost again...”

Allen recounted the events.

Upon arriving in Paradow City, he immediately sought out shops selling balmstone powder and asked around. He discovered that only one shop in Paradow City sold Sea Night Dew, and when he visited the shop, the clerk didn’t hide anything and directly confirmed that a month ago, Irene did indeed come to buy Sea Night Dew.

However, after purchasing the Sea Night Dew, Irene left.

Without lying, the clerk could only leave the shop and see if he could find traces of Irene elsewhere.

Allen spent two days searching, and even mobilized Official resources, before finally finding another lead.

The clue was provided by a young boy.

Upon arriving in Paradow City, Irene had first found a tour guide to take her to a balmstone powder shop. This tour guide was the boy.

The boy said that after obtaining Sea Night Dew, Irene did not leave immediately but asked him to take her around Paradow City to visit some characteristic attractions and shops.

Eager to earn more, the boy went to great lengths to spend the whole day wandering around with Irene.

In the end, they stopped near Wasteland City.

The boy didn’t want to go into Wasteland City because it was full of Wanderers and often the scene of crimes. Moreover, having been born there and having enemies inside, he worried he would be targeted if he entered, even if they didn’t dare to act at the moment, there was no telling if they would act in the future.

The boy advised Irene not to go into Wasteland City, but Irene seemed interested in it and asked the boy to wait for her outside while she took a look inside.

”And then, Irene disappeared. Since Irene hadn’t paid the guide fee beforehand, he waited at the entrance for a full two days before leaving, so he could confirm that Irene never came out of Wasteland City.” Allen paused, then said, ”So, I judged that Wasteland City is very likely where Irene disappeared.”

Allen stopped there.

Angel pondered, based on his understanding of Irene, she would not leave the boy hanging for the sake of Mortals’ money.

Clearly, something happened to Irene, which prevented her from going back to pay the guide fee to the boy.

Originally, Angel had thought that Irene disappeared on the way, but now it sounded as if she had disappeared in the so-called Wasteland City?

”What exactly is this Wasteland City?” Angel had been listening for a long time and still didn’t understand where Wasteland City was located.
