Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1479: Section 1480 Test Site Chapter 1479: Section 1480 Test Site Until the communication ended, Angel did not give Muse a definite answer.

He didn’t know how long he would stay in Black Castle, although Hua Que was very confident she could research the Transforming Soft-bodied Insect, but as for how long it would take, Angel wasn’t sure, and Hua Que couldn’t give a specific time either.

Therefore, he didn’t dare give a definite reply.

However, Angel didn’t close off all paths either.

Once he finished affairs at Black Castle, he indeed needed to visit Sky Mechanical City, after all, his brother was still there. If he returned early, he could take up the task along the way, treating it as for the sake of Research and Development Institute’s points. If he couldn’t make it, then there was no helping it.

After Muse heard this, she just smiled and said, “Then I look forward to your early return. As long as the Nova Contest hasn’t ended, I will reserve a spot for you. Consider it a benefit of you joining the Research and Development Institute~”

After leaving the Signal Tower, Mrs. Kimberly kept talking to Angel about the Research and Development Institute and Muse.

However, Angel’s understanding of the Research and Development Institute wasn’t extensive. As for Muse, he knew even less, the only familiar member from the institute was Magic Potion Midora, and what Mrs. Kimberly wanted to know about Mechanical Alchemy was far from his knowledge.

Angel understood her urgency. The alchemy heritage Kimberly had obtained was a thousand-year-old Alchemy Technique.

Ancient technology doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good.

When Wizard civilization was in decline, the older it was, perhaps the better; but now, Wizard civilization was dazzlingly brilliant and clearly on the rise. Magic Potion, Fragrances, Magic Pattern… such Alchemy Techniques were constantly being innovated over time. Not to mention the even greater Mechanical Alchemy that was being updated and replaced, so Angel was very clear about Kimberly’s urgency.

“Why don’t you consider studying in Sky Mechanical City for a while?” Angel suggested.

Kimberly sighed and shook her head, “I would like that too, but now Isabella is in confinement recuperating, and I have to temporarily take over her duties, there are too many things to be busy with. Right now, I only hope that Moriya can obtain a suitable body soon to help me share the workload.”

Kimberly frowned with annoyance, and the Illusory Spirits from her hair forest also came out and hung on Kimberley’s hair strands, comforting her by touching her cheeks.

“It would be nice if Sky Mechanical City could drift over to Fairy Tale World, so I could study there without ever leaving home,” Kimberly muttered softly.

This troubled expression was something Angel was seeing for the first time.

For an Apprentice, a Wizard always seemed unapproachably lofty, but that’s only because they lack the power and status to enter the other’s circle.

The fact that Kimberly was willing to show this side of herself also meant she recognized Angel.

“Even if Sky Mechanical City were willing to drift to Fairy Tale World, I think the Wizards’ Alliance of Fairy Tale Town wouldn’t dare to let them in,” said Angel. The balance of power between Wizard organizations is still very important. Even if Sky Mechanical City is a neutral organization, they couldn’t be without their defenses.

Just like the Barbarian Cave where Angel was located, it actually had spies and pieces arranged by Sky Mechanical City. Baroque was one such agent, and so was the Parasitic Lady, who fought Angel in the Sky Tower, attempting to take his place, she too was an inside agent of Sky Mechanical City.

“That’s true. It seems I’ll have to wait until things here are settled before I can go to Sky Mechanical City,” said Kimberly somewhat sentimentally.

“However, your idea isn’t entirely impossible,” Angel added.

Kimberly looked at Angel suspiciously. He had just negated the idea, but now his tone changed, affirming it?

“What I mean is that maybe one day, you really won’t have to leave Fairy Tale Town to study in Sky Mechanical City,” Angel said seriously.

“How is that possible, unless in a dream,” Kimberly retorted sarcastically and then quickly left the Wizard’s Tower.

Angel watched Kimberly’s retreating figure, his eyebrows slightly raised, thinking to himself–

“It might actually be possible in a dream.”

Another two days passed.

Because the dark clouds over Black Castle had dissipated and the Lightning Serpent vanished, one could feel the warmth of the Sunshine during the day. This gave the Apprentices who had lived in a gloomy world for many years an illusion of seeing the light of day once again, which was why most Apprentices had gone to the surface, leaving the Soul Realm much emptier.

Angel walked through the tranquil corridors of the Soul Realm, guided by a Natasha with long golden curls leading the way.

After going around several corridors and walking further for a while, Natasha took Angel out of the Soul Realm. In the interlayer between the Corpse Forest and the Soul Realm, they walked for about fifteen minutes and then arrived at a large metal gate.

“This is the place for testing Spell Techniques. Due to the previous undead turmoil, it has been abandoned for a while,” Natasha said as she pushed open the long-sealed door, behind which a dark corridor was visible, with locked room doors on either side.

“The farther you go inside, the larger and stronger the defense of the testing grounds will be,” Natasha entered the corridor first, touched something, and one by one the lights came on, dispelling the darkness, and illuminating the way: “Do you wish to test a Spell Technique, my lord? What size of area do you require, and are there any specific attribute requirements?”

“By the way, this place is also equipped with Alchemy Golems for experimentation, which can be used for testing at any time. If you need a living subject, you might have to wait a bit as there probably isn’t a reserve right now.”

After listening to Natasha’s introduction, Angel finally spoke: “I do need to test a Spell Technique, but it’s not offensive in nature. So I don’t need a large space, just a stable spatial testing ground. As for the Alchemy Golems, I won’t be needing them either.”

Natasha thought for a moment: “I understand. Please follow me, my lord.”

Eventually, Natasha led Angel to a room that could actually be called a small square, its area even larger than the courtyard where Angel resided. The walls all around were a vague white expanse, and they felt cold with a metallic texture when touched.

There was an eternal day light source overhead, which made the space appear very bright.

Apart from that, there was nothing else in the space.

Although Angel felt that such a large area was unnecessary, Natasha had mentioned that no one else was using the testing grounds besides him, so a little extravagance didn’t matter.

After Natasha left, Angel stood in the exact center of the pure white space, pondering in silence.

He had Natasha bring him to the testing ground, of course, to experiment with the Gate Model.

Angel didn’t know what sort of ripples would occur upon activating the Gate Model covered by special energy, but just to be on the safe side, he intentionally came to the testing ground for the experiment. Also, being in the testing ground meant he didn’t have to worry about others prying.

Speaking of the Gate Model itself, Angel hadn’t attempted to use it after advancing because he deduced a clear limitation from the available information.

Once he activated this new Gate Model, the special energy contained within it would reset to zero.

In other words, after Angel deployed the new Gate Model, in order to use it again, he would have to wait for the special energy inside the Gate Model to Diffuse and fill up again before it could be utilized.

Angel didn’t know how long it would take for the special energy to fully Diffuse after use, and because of this, he was very cautious, not rashly proceeding with the experiment.

After several days of settling, Angel’s Magic Vortex had completely stabilized, only then did he turn his attention to the Gate Model.

Originally, Angel planned to experiment with it after leaving Black Castle, but now, due to Hua Que’s matter and since he had to stay here a while longer, he might as well take this chance to conduct a preliminary test. He would also officially name the “Gate Model” Spell Technique.

Angel recalled all kinds of information about the Gate Model, and aside from the limitation of special energy, there were some other restrictions, the specifics of which he would have to clarify through his own testing.

Angel closed his eyes for a long time, and when he opened them again, his eyes seemed to flicker with flowing light.

As the rhythmical energy pulsed, countless glowing lines began to emerge in front of him.

These lines started to meander and grow, intertwining like branches, eventually forming the faint outline of a door.

The door hadn’t fully taken shape yet, but Angel could clearly feel that it was different from the doors that appeared with the use of the Gate Model in the past.

Not to mention the glowing lines, just the energy emanating from the door was very unique.

It was composed of three different kinds of energy: Spatial Energy, special energy, and… Illusion Technique energy.
