Chapter 1398: Section 1399: Undead Conglomerate

Moreover, Angel recalled something: when Tullas was hit by the White Light Bullet, he, just like her, instantly transformed into a Semi-Undead state.

What is the commonality between Tullas and the thirteen witches of Guman after being shot, which is obviously different from other souls?

“Could it really be just because they are Special Souls?”

Before Tullas had recovered from being undead to a normal soul, he was indeed a spirit with special powers that allowed him to teleport at will.

Therefore, the only common ground that Angel could find at the moment seemed to be the fact of being a “Special Soul.”

As Angel was muttering to himself, Sanders replied through the Mind Ribbon, “There might be other reasons too, but no one can say for sure right now.”

No one can say for sure? Angel frowned and whispered softly, “No, there is someone who can clarify.”

“Who?”

“She herself.”

Sanders hadn’t expected Angel to suddenly come up with such a novel answer and raised his eyebrows, “Are you planning to bring her out of the sunken Abyss?”

Angel nodded, a glint of excitement flashing in his eyes, “Isn’t this a very special case?”

Having become a Semi-Undead many years ago, is it possible to continue to transform her from a Semi-Undead state into a normal Undead?

Regardless of whether the final result was good or bad, such a special case would definitely enrich “The Report of Reincarnation Prelude Experiment.”

The excitement evident in Angel’s eyes already indicated his determination, and Sanders did not stop him. However, as to whether Angel’s plan would be feasible, Sanders thought it was still an unknown, because to conduct this experiment, Black Castle would also need to be accounted for.

Their wait was not long; after about two to three minutes, the figure of Isabel appeared in the great hall.

Not only did Isabel appear, but Isabella also came; however, she merely floated quietly behind Isabel, neither stepping forward nor intending to speak.

Isabel first nodded to Angel, then turned her gaze to the other people in the hall.

Her ice-colored eyes swept over the assembled crowd, with anyone who looked directly at her experiencing a chilling freeze of the soul. Therefore, as each person was glanced at, they involuntarily lowered their heads, not daring to meet Isabel’s gaze.

After looking around, Isabel said indifferently, “Those in the first row, follow us later to assist Mr. Pat in dealing with the undead menace. The rest stay in the Soul Realm and, by the way… reflect.”

Isabel’s statement actually conveyed two attitudes.

First, her form of addressing Angel clearly carried a note of respect, which surprised the other people present, even those who were Official Wizards.

Isabel’s form of address had indicative meaning for everyone in Black Castle.

Since even she expressed respect towards Angel, no one else could afford to be disrespectful.

This was the message Isabel wanted to convey. It was somewhat surprising to Angel, who noticed that neither Kimberly nor Isabella had any objections. It seemed that they had already communicated in private and reached an agreement.

The second key point of her statement concerned “those in the first row” and “reflect.”

Angel might not understand what it meant, but all the Transcendents of Black Castle knew exactly what it implied.

There were actually less than ten people sitting in the first row, all of them Official Wizards. Moreover, unlike other Official Wizards, they were not entangled with resentment.

That is to say, they had never partaken in the “Blood Bath Ceremony” conducted by Isabella.

By specifically asking these people to go out, and telling the others to reflect, Isabel was tacitly warning everyone about her stance on the Blood Bath Ceremony. She was also reminding others that it was time to overturn the past strategies of Black Castle.

Since Angel and Sanders were present, Isabel did not specify further, only communicating this message in a subtle manner to those gathered.

It was time for a change.

Isabella still offered no opinion, and the people below exchanged glances before bowing their heads, no longer speaking.

“Let’s go, Chenque. It’s time to reveal the scars,” Isabel said indifferently. Only by excising the necrotic flesh and eliminating the cancer could Black Castle have a chance for renewal.

As Isabel’s words fell, the person responsible for the spatial node dispatch immediately initiated the Spatial Transmission.

One by one, people threaded through the spatial node and vanished.

…

When Angel stepped out of the Black Forest node, he was already prepared with a Defense Spell as Kimberly had reminded him earlier. But what he hadn’t expected was that the situation outside was even more astonishing than he had imagined.

Even though Angel was mentally prepared, when he stepped out of the node, he found himself almost at zero distance from a ghastly face!

Angel was about to fire the Samsara Overture, but before he could shoot, he heard Kimberly’s shout, “Watch out!”

Before Angel could react, the undead creature he was nearly face-to-face with displayed a hideously frightening expression, followed by its head rotating 180 degrees. To Angel’s horror, from amidst the dense hair at the back of the undead’s head, a mouth suddenly appeared, forming a smile full of malice.

A foul and fishy wind blew past, lifting the undead’s hair, causing Angel’s pupils to contract.

He had originally thought there was another face under the undead’s hair at the back of its head, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, under the hair were various deformed facial features arranged in chaos—not just one mouth, but several mouths disorganizedly aligned along with eyes and noses that followed no pattern!

Witnessing this scene, Angel immediately remembered what Kimberly had told him, “The undead amalgamation!”

Multiple undead were specially combined together, forming a special composite soul form.

This soul form had one characteristic: it was extremely unstable!

As Angel was alert to her identity, her soul body, originally emitting a faint cold light, suddenly burst into intense luminance!

“Self-destruct?!”

The speed was incredibly fast, and before Angel could react, a terrifying boom and the violent spillover of energy, along with fierce white light, were happening right in front of him.

The defense spell Angel had conjured previously had no effect whatsoever and was destroyed instantly.

With a thunderous boom,

Angel was sent flying in an arc, crashing heavily ten-odd meters away.

“Are you alright?” Sanders’s voice came through the Mind Ribbon.

“I’m fine, just thrown by inertia, no injuries,” Angel said, propping himself up from the withered grass. Several streams of mist shaped like long ribbons were gradually dissipating, which were the Phantom Limbs that had just shielded Angel from the explosion.

Although the defense spell had been ineffective, the Phantom Limbs had withstood the explosion.

However, Angel’s expression remained serious, for in that instant, nearly ninety percent of the Phantom Limbs’ energy had been drained, showing the terrifying damage of the self-destructive explosion.

If several more were to occur, Angel wasn’t sure he would still emerge unscathed.

As Angel was replying to Sanders, he suddenly felt a cold breeze from behind. Turning around, he saw a ghastly undead, which had appeared out of nowhere, looming behind him.

Angel picked up the Samsara Overture, ready to shoot the undead.

However, before he could fire, the undead seemed to realize something. It abruptly retreated and vanished into the darkness.

“Strange undead,” Angel muttered to himself. Since it had run off, he didn’t bother pursuing it.

Angel thought he was quite unlucky already, encountering an amalgamation’s explosion as soon as he stepped out of the node. However, compared to the others, he was doing well. For just after the strange undead disappeared, Angel suddenly heard a series of deafening booms behind him.

He looked back and saw that the Black Forest node had turned into a blaze of intense white light!

Nearly a hundred undead amalgamations had emerged from nowhere, self-destructing simultaneously!

An energy of extreme terror spread from the epicenter, and a fierce hot wind blasted towards him!

The ground soil rose up en masse, dried trees were uprooted and then disintegrated into dust by the incoming energy. Everything was annihilated.

In Angel’s eyes, the reflection was pure white, and within that white light, one could faintly see the figures of a few human shapes – the Wizards who had emerged from the node with him.

This roaring lasted for a long time.

Initially, it was just the explosion of the undead amalgamations, but later Angel distinctly perceived that spatial energy was mixed into the explosion. He estimated that even the Black Forest’s spatial node had been destroyed.

Various energies interwove together, and the massive ball of light expanded outward.

While Angel was still in shock, Sanders’s voice came to his ears, “Get away from here!”

Following Sanders’s warning, he quickly retreated hundreds of meters.

As the light ball gradually dissipated, Angel could clearly see that the previous Black Forest node had vanished, leaving behind a massive crater with a radius of over twenty meters.

Near the crater, several Witches who hadn’t escaped in time lay on the ground, drenched in blood.

Seeing this scene, Angel suddenly felt very lucky. The second he stepped out of the node, he encountered the undead amalgamation and was immediately blown away from the core of the explosion, putting some distance between him and the epicenter.

If he had been at the core at that time, even with his strong physical body as a foundation, he might have been skinned.

While Angel was shocked by the scene before him, several whooshing sounds came from behind, and turning his head, he saw Isabella and others appearing beside him.

Sanders also strolled over, “Your luck is indeed good.”

Sanders’s remark made the others nod in agreement.

After leaving the node, they actually all kept an eye on Angel, fearing he might have an accident. However, unexpectedly, Angel was the first to encounter the undead amalgamation and even the weakest one at that. Although he had a minor mishap, he still managed to avoid the most intense explosion; indeed, one could say his luck was very good.

Angel touched his nose and didn’t respond to Sanders’s teasing.

Looking at the distant desolation, a sense of fear rose from deep within him.

Originally Angel said that he, alone with the Samsara Overture, could handle the situation here without needing anyone’s help. But now, having witnessed this scene, his confidence had evaporated.

Undead were terrifying, and those undead backed by a strategist were even more so.
