Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1390: Section 1391 New Direction

“Do you know her?”

Natasha’s brows furrowed, a hint of suspicion in her eyes, wondering why Angel would bring up Hua Hua’s matter.

Because she had blurted out her words before, Natasha could not deny it now, and after pondering for a moment, she nodded: “I do.”

“She has always been at the bottom of the deep well, so why has she suddenly disappeared?” Angel’s gaze suddenly became sharp.

Natasha fell silent.

“It was you who took her away, wasn’t it?” Angel asked again, “Why did you take her away?”

Natasha’s lips were sealed tight, still saying nothing.

Angel: “Also, you said before that Lady Isabel told her not to wander off, so does she have some kind of connection with Lady Isabel?”

With a series of unanswered questions, Natasha finally could only say in a soft voice amid Angel’s increasingly solemn expression, “This matter… is related to a secret blessing…”

“Secret blessing?” Angel raised an eyebrow, “Hua Hua has been living peacefully in that deep well for so many years, never having left. What secret blessing could she possibly be involved in?”

Natasha’s mouth opened, but she didn’t know what to reply. However, her eyes betrayed her evident confusion, wondering why Angel knew so much about Hua Hua?

“Are you curious as to how I know about Hua Hua?” Angel sneered, “Because I am the one who created that illusionary room for her beneath the deep well!”

When Natasha heard this, she abruptly looked up, “Are you the big brother she talked about?”

Angel snorted coldly. As Natasha was still in shock, the surrounding Illusionary Realm suddenly underwent earth-shattering changes. The vast hall became cramped, the bright light dimmed, and the quiet world was enhanced with the addition of pleasant musical notes.

Natasha witnessed with her own eyes how the hall transformed into a pink girl’s boudoir.

Warm pink wallpaper, moving cute dolls, wind chimes swaying slowly in front of the window, rows of redwood soldiers that could drum on the floor, and a music box ballerina that could dance…

It was precisely the room where Hua Hua used to stay.

Every detail was a perfect restoration of the room’s condition.

With his actions, Angel made it clear that he was the person who created the illusion for Hua Hua.

“Do you know why she was beneath that deep well?” Angel’s gaze bore into Natasha, his tone gradually changing from indifferent to thin and distant, like a night breeze under a distant starry sky, blowing silently and coldly from an unknown place.

“She used to be a very happy girl, and although she lost her parents’ love at a young age, she had an elder brother who loved her very much.”

“However, their happy life was shattered by sudden intruders, and those intruders were the damned slave traders!”

“Do you know why, despite being Transcendents’ slave traders, they would kidnap an ordinary Mortal girl?”

Natasha’s throat moved, she knew the answer, but how cruel this answer was, she knew better than Angel.

Although Angel had posed this question for Natasha, he had no intention of letting her answer; he continued, “The answer must be clear to you, how she suffered a cruel bloodletting, how she hopelessly watched as her blood drained away, and how her corpse was carelessly discarded in the graveyard.”

“Other women, under such treatment, would have long become undead. Yet she, with a pure heart, bore no grudge or hatred, just loneliness beneath the well, waiting for a dawn that would never come.”

“Such a person, slaughtered and abandoned by you, you claim is connected to Black Castle’s secret blessings? Do you think I would believe that?”

Angel’s voice returned from the ethereal to the earthly realm.

Those piercing eyes seemed to cut through Natasha’s heart, laying bare all of her inner darkness and light, good and evil, as clearly as day.

Each of Angel’s questions was a direct strike to Natasha’s soul. She felt as if she was placed on the executioner’s block, publicly executed, and not only disturbed by Angel’s questions but also fiercely tormented by the furnace within her own heart.

Suddenly, a record book on the table rose into the air.

The book flipped rapidly, revealing page after page of images… Natasha could not clearly discern the content of the specific images, but when the book turned to the last page, she saw it clearly—

A woman in a golden curled dress took Hua Hua’s hand and disappeared into the deep well.

Upon seeing this, Natasha felt her mind roar and the scene before her eyes blur.

It was as if she returned to that time, the time she took Hua Hua away.

That day, she had been assigned a patrol duty, but as she patrolled near Black Castle, she suddenly heard a gentle female voice by her ear.

It was Lady Isabel’s message.

It directed her to a place, to retrieve a soul.

And that place was the deep well in the graveyard.

Natasha remembered arriving at the depths of the well, where the little girl in a goose-yellow dress had already been waiting at the door to the illusionary realm. It seemed she knew Natasha’s purpose, and without waiting for Natasha to speak, she said, “Can you wait for me? I just have a few things to take care of, it won’t take long.”

Natasha agreed.

Later, Natasha became more intimate with Hua Hua. She once asked Hua Hua, “When I took you away, you said you had some matters to deal with. What were they?”

Hua Hua’s expression was very downcast as she spoke softly, “I didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.”

Hua Hua’s response puzzled Natasha. Clearly, there was no one else in the Illusionary Realm, so why would Hua Hua say she didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.

But upon seeing the record book and after hearing Angel’s account, she now understood—

Hua Hua’s so-called unwillingness to leave without saying goodbye referred to not wanting to make Angel think she had left without saying goodbye.

The “big brother” she was always waiting for, that was Angel, right?

After a long silence, Natasha reached some kind of agreement with the self that was struggling within her. She finally lifted her head to look at Angel.

“Yes, Hua Hua was the one I took away,” Natasha finally spoke.

Even though Isabel had never asked her to keep it a secret, Natasha believed this matter concerned Lady Isabel, so she always kept it to herself and did not discuss it with any outsiders.

But could Angel be considered an outsider? To them, maybe he was an outsider. But to Hua Hua, Angel was the light that illuminated her dark and dreary life, the person she had been waiting for under the dry well.

Natasha struggled, her mind filled with Hua Hua’s face, as she thought about Angel’s questions that went straight to the heart of her unease.

Her inner defenses, they still collapsed.

“Lady Isabel asked me to take Hua Hua away. I don’t know why I had to take Hua Hua out of the well, but I could feel that Lady Isabel harbored no malice towards her.”

Angel, “Then where is she now, can you take me to see her?”

“After Hua Hua came to Black Castle, she mostly stayed by Lady Isabel’s side,” Natasha said. “If you want to see Hua Hua, you’ll have to find Lady Isabel.”

Angel asked a few more questions, and Natasha answered all that she could, but many questions involved Isabel, to which she could only give equivocal answers.

Once Angel realized the only way to find out about Hua Hua’s whereabouts was to ask Isabel, he stopped asking.

Although it was a bit difficult to meet with Isabel, at least there was now a clear lead.

“Occasionally, Hua Hua would also call me over for a chat. If she contacts me, I’ll tell her about your matter,” Natasha added at this moment.

Angel nodded, “Then thank you.”

Natasha bowed her head, whispering in a voice only she could hear, “The one who should be thankful is actually me.”

When Natasha was ready to take her leave, Angel suddenly remembered something, and once again took out Hua Hua’s record book, flipping to one of the entries.

The contents of the page showed a faceless figure appearing under the deep well.

“Do you know who this is?” Angel pointed at the figure depicted.

A flicker of contemplation flashed in Natasha’s eyes, and she silently moved her lips without making a sound.

Angel frowned, “It wouldn’t be a secret, would it?”

Natasha’s silence made Angel involuntarily rub his temples, “Then I’ll ask you one last question. You only need to nod or shake your head.”

“Is this figure the reason Hua Hua left the deep well?”

Natasha hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded.

“So that’s the reason… Okay, I get it now.” Angel had wanted to ask if the figure had anything to do with the Black Castle’s incident, but after giving it some thought, Sanders’s previous demeanor had made it clear that he did not want to get involved in Black Castle’s murky waters, so there was no need for him to probe the so-called incident.

After Natasha left, Angel fell into deep thought. Although he now knew where Hua Hua was, what method he could use to meet Isabel was yet another problem.

Meanwhile, Sanders, who had been sitting on the other sofa without speaking, said indifferently, “Don’t worry about it; it won’t be long. Even if you don’t go looking for her, she will come looking for you.”

Due to his limited strength, Angel didn’t know that not long ago, a tremendous spiritual power had silently swept through their room.

At that moment, Sanders had briefly confronted that spiritual power.

Although there wasn’t much exchange of information, it was almost certain that this spiritual power came from Isabel.

It was this silent confrontation that made Sanders very sure that Isabel would come to see them… and even if she really didn’t come, he could simply take the initiative to meet her if necessary.

Sanders’s visit to Black Castle this time was indeed for Greya, but that did not prevent him from visiting this genius witch from a thousand years ago.

Although Angel did not know why Sanders was so sure, since Sanders had spoken, there should be no mistake.

With this thought, Angel felt a bit more at ease.
