Chapter 1239: Chapter 534: True Warhammer Warriors Unmatched

”The Viper of Musillon, is my son?” Lorne murmured to himself, his expression masked by extreme shock and bewilderment: ”He’s my son?”

Lorne’s confusion caused him to momentarily lower his guard.

However, Mathew Bade did not relent, his face marked by deep-seated hatred. The Viper Sword in his hand continued its assault, the blade landing with a clang on Lorne’s helmet, sending the separated steel spinning away. The long blade deeply penetrated his flesh, searing like a tongue of fire.

Mathew Bade’s immense strength sent Lorne flying off his horse, the curse upon the blade tormenting his soul. His beloved horse neighed and retreated in fear, trying to evade the attack, blood splattering across his face. He attempted to drag his feet to stand up, but waves of nausea and dizziness overwhelmed him.

In his daze, Lorne became aware of the knights’ screams around him and their efforts to rescue him, though it was all in vain. He tried searching for his sword, only to find a foot stepping on the hilt of the Kulona Sword.

He looked up at Mathew Bade’s face, and in a haze, it seemed as if he had returned to his teenage years, when he was a young and reckless Ranger Knight, and she was the peasant maid washing clothes by the brook.

”Young master, I’m a peasant, you’re a knight, it’s impossible for us.”

”Oh! Young master, please don’t do this! No!”

”I am with your child! Young master!”

”No! You promised, you vowed to me!”

”I beg you, please, don’t take my son away, I’m begging you!”

”Give me back my son!!!”

”I hate you, Lorne, I will hate you forever!”

The Holy Grail Knight broke down, weeping bitterly, shaking his head: ”I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Aganay! I owe you an apology!”

”Go to the other world and tell Mother, Father!” Mathew Bade said, looking at his father weeping uncontrollably, a trace of pain in his eyes, yet he still raised the Viper Sword in his hand.

Lorne tried to force his limbs to obey him, a sense of numbness overwhelmed him. He heard the knights’ cries of despair, heard the sound of the blade piercing his body, and heard the sound of hoofbeats. In the end, he vaguely heard his mount, the Horned Eagle Beast Biquis’s voice.

Then, a wave of dizziness hit him, and he heard nothing more...

In the darkness, besides the ongoing battle at the Central Army, the camp of the Imperial Army was also under fierce assault by the undead. When the Terror Wolf Pack stormed into the entire Imperial Army Camp, the Imperial Army was even still asleep!

However, unlike the army of Brittania, these troops from Nuer were, after all, excellent and rigorously trained veterans. Initially caught off guard, the Imperial Army suffered significant losses, but when the undead attempted to advance, these professional soldiers had gradually formed a solid defense against the undead. The Imperial soldiers quickly formed a sturdy array, with Long Halberdiers and Long Spear Soldiers forming a tight line to block the breach, while the Musket Battalion opened fire at full speed, and the artillery roared, swiftly repelling the undead’s attack.

”Damn it! By Charlemagne, what the hell is going on?!” Imperial General Dietrich watched the distant fires and the sounds of slaughter from the Brittania Camp, directing his soldiers to counterattack: ”How the hell did those Brittania people let the Undead Army sneak right up to the front of their camp, are they f***ing blind and deaf?”

”How should I know?!” Deputy General Boris von Rukov shouted aloud: ”Hold the line! Hold the line! Follow my command, fire!”

”Boom~ Boom boom boom boom~” The musketeers began a volley, hundreds of approaching Terror Wolves and Skeleton Warriors were shredded into pieces. The formation of the undead was in complete disarray, propelled forward only by the desire for slaughter. The only advantage the mortal defenders had was their discipline, as it’s been for centuries, the imperial orderly steel array welcomed the primitive beastiality.

After the sneak attack, the Imperial Army instantly lost over a thousand men, yet the remaining troops had regained their footing. They roared and fought the undead, with Long Spear Soldiers and Long Halberdiers standing firmly shoulder to shoulder, supported by the artillery and swordsmen while resisting the undead charge. Nuer’s musketeers poured lead rain upon the enemy, unleashing their attack.

Holy Sanctuary Holy Grail Knight Kaled and his dozens of escorts turned into a steel torrent, annihilating the waves of undead assaults. Wherever Kaled went, he incited fear among the undead; enveloped in golden light, like a Celestial God descended to the world, he cursed and slaughtered his way through. Kaled’s valor significantly boosted the army’s morale, and his unbeatable performance rallied the Imperial Army, restoring their morale from the shock of the sudden attack.

Seizing this opportunity, the Nuer Army reformed their lines, the three disorganized Infantry Battalions had regrouped, flanked by additional regular troops. As per Nuer Army’s tradition, the Halberdier Phalanx formed the core, supported by ranged weapons, archers, musketeers, and heavy artillery. The whole force’s elite, over a hundred Imperial Knights, were positioned on the left, seeking a chance to break through the encirclement.

When Kaled drove back an entire wave of undead and cut down two Black Chalice Knights before returning, he was already covered in blood and mud. This Holy Sanctuary Holy Grail Knight had originally been sent by Lorne to the Imperial Army as a liaison officer, thus he and his few knight vassals and dozens of knight’s squires were stationed within the Imperial Army Camp.
