Warhammer Divine Throne

But Bertrand felt something was wrong. He looked up, and now more than a dozen ladders were placed against the city walls, with a tide of corpses formed by the Undead Army climbing up the ladders.

The number of the Undead Army was overwhelming! Even with the help of artillery and numerous muskets, the human and Dwarf Alliance Army, which was at a numerical disadvantage, had already suffered heavy casualties, and morale in many areas began to waver.

”Sir Bertrand! At this rate, the castle will fall!” immediately shouted a soldier.

”We cannot retreat! We cannot retreat!” Bertrand’s bowstrings thrummed as he shouted hysterically, ”The Count raised me from a thief to this position! If I retreat, I will never forgive myself in my entire life!”

”Ha!” Amidst the dead bodies on a section of the wall, Laine swung the Mjolnir, blocking the attack of the Black Chalice Knight. The undead power of these Chalice Knights was enormous. Laine exerted all his strength to push away the blade of the Black Chalice Knight in front of him, then raised his hand: ”Spiritual Storm!”

”Ice Arrow!” In the distance, the female sorcerer Teresa also cast her magic, a stream of Frost Energy hit the Black Chalice Knight, enveloping him entirely in frost, followed by a sky-blue lightning storm surrounding him.

”Skull Shattering Strike!” Laine seized the opportunity, raised his Warhammer, muscles swelling, the hammerhead sparking with lightning as it drew a curved arc and smashed down: ”over!!!”

”Boom!” The Warhammer struck the Black Chalice Knight’s helmet, shattering the Dragon Wing Helmet, black blood streaming down the Black Chalice Knight’s face. As he staggered back a few steps, Laine drew the Viper Sword and pierced the Black Chalice Knight’s chest: ”For the Lady! Let me end your pain!”

The runes on the blade of the Viper Sword lit up one by one, the silver flame and pale blue light purified the cursed soul, and this Chalice Knight’s undead soul softly thanked Laine before dissipating into the air.

Laine didn’t have time to respond and immediately dodged as a heavy War Axe smashed down where he had just stood. Two Desolate Tomb Guards were approaching, and not far away, in front of the bodies of dozens of human soldiers and a few knights, the Undead Army was constantly landing on the walls.

Laine looked up at the sky. After a whole day of fierce battle, the time was now close to dusk, and the undead had no intention of stopping!

The Lake God Prophets were collectively casting Divine Art to enhance the soldiers’ combat strength and heal their wounds, but they couldn’t resurrect the dead. After a whole day of fighting, the army led by Laine, both soldiers and knights, was already very tired.

This was expected by Laine, as humans couldn’t match the undead in endurance, especially being outnumbered, and the number of Chalice Knights was ultimately very small, with the entire frontline collapsing.

”Laine Brother! We’ll lose at this rate!” shouted a panting Belgar as he slowly approached from afar. The King of the Angland Clan, having fought from morning until evening, also felt exhausted. He swung the Hammer of Angland into the stomach of a Desolate Tomb Guard, knocking it to the ground and following up with a head-smashing strike. Belgar shouted, ”Do you have any reinforcements?”

”... Hold on, King Belgar!” Laine and Belgar stood in front of the tower. He had already drawn the Viper Sword: ”We must hold Sharp-Top Palace!”

”I know that. I’m asking if you have any backup!” Belgar bellowed.

”There will be! Trust me!” Laine directly decapitated a Tomb Evil Ghost.

”I always feel like you’re lying to me!” Belgar echoed.

Not far away, Mogiana’s Chain Lightning was taking down swathes of the undead tide, hundreds of undead charred by the electricity. The female sorcerer Teresa unleashed the Seventh-Ring Magic ”Soul Roar”, a golden magic light sweeping across all areas within hundreds of meters. All undead swept by the golden aura lost control and collapsed to the ground.

But even with the defenders fighting bravely, the defenders of Sharp-Top Palace were still gradually losing ground. The heavy casualties had reduced the five-thousand-man garrison to over three thousand, with many areas already collapsing.

The battle continued, and even those knights possessing Legendary Power were extremely fatigued, while the peasant soldiers were even worse. If not for the adequate food supply prepared by Laine, the peasants might not have held on long.

On the city wall, Mathew Bade stabbed his Viper Sword into the chest of a Lake God Prophet, red blood staining her blue dress. The Viper of Musillon sneered a few times, extending his hand to take the Prophet’s head: ”Are you watching, right?”

All around him were the bodies of knights; even a Chalice Knight had bitterly fallen under Mathew Bade’s hand.

”Then watch as your knights, your kingdom, your Divine Chosen Champion, all fall under my hand. This is fate. You brought lies to us, and I will uncover your hypocrisy!” Mathew Bade, eyes blood red, glared at the entire battlefield.

Humanity was on the verge of unsustainable defense! Mathew Bade sneered incessantly, beginning to chant spells, summoning the last Fear Beast and a squad of Bloodthirsty Celestial Ghosts from Musillon, preparing to deliver a fatal blow to humanity.

But the first to reach him was a towering, burly Black Knight, wearing a Cross Helmet topped with a golden wild boar statue, clad in the Duke of Atuo’s ancestral plate armor, riding an Undead Warhorse: ”Awaiting your orders, master.”

”Ah, it’s you, Zilfroy!” Mathew Bade laughed, ”Perfect timing, I have just the task you excel at for you to handle.”

”Please command!” The Black Knight’s eyes burned with green Soul Fire.

As the time reached one in the morning, the extremely exhausted human army heard a loud bang. The gate of Sharp-Top Palace collapsed as a towering Black Knight forcibly broke through the gate with his strength, killing five peasant Long Spear Soldiers on the spot, then raised his Cavalry Lance to skewer a Kingdom Knight from Winford in the head.

Blackened floodwaters poured into the castle, engaging in fierce street battles with the human and Dwarf Alliance Army. Mathew Bade committed all the Blood Knights and Giant Beasts, with Musillon’s final remaining Three-headed Bloodthirsty Bat Wolf, a Fear Beast, and a squad of Bloodthirsty Celestial Ghosts joining the fray.

Seeing this situation, Laine, still fighting hard on the walls, finally issued the command.

”Retreat! My soldiers! Fall back into the Inner Castle!”

”The castle has fallen! We need to organize a second line of defense!”

”Retreat!!!”
