Warhammer Divine Throne

The cracks slowly expanded.

”I don’t want to run anymore. All these years, I’ve always been avoiding. My father died under the axe of a beastman. Maybe it’s the fate of our family.” Amelia took out the one-handed longsword from behind her and handed it to Teresa, then drew a rapier from her waist: ”Regardless, if I die, Lady Trovik, please take this sword. It must never fall into the hands of the beastmen. You surely have a way to escape, right?”

The ice wall began to teeter.

”...If you insist.” Teresa was about to reach out to take it when a sharp sound came from above the glacier. The two women looked up to see Laine riding on Pinecone, holding a hammer in both hands, sliding down from up the glacier to stop in front of the two women: ”Get on my horse, run!”

”Laine?! What about you?” The female sorcerer was initially delighted to see Laine’s arrival, but then became hesitant and unwilling.

”Quickly! What can you do now?” Laine unreasonably lifted the two women onto the horse together, then thrust the reins into Teresa’s hand: ”Quick! I’ll do my best to hold them off, you two get moving!”

That’s human nature; when originally determined to fight to the death suddenly a ray of hope appears, even Amelia, who had decided to die, faltered.

”Alright! Promise me, Laine! Come back alive!” Teresa grasped Amelia’s hand tightly, shouted back as she turned.

”Alright, I promise you, go!” Many sections of the ice wall had shattered, the Beast King was charging at them with a war axe, and finally, Teresa urged the horse, Pinecone, a purebred highland horse, swiftly taking the two women out of Laine’s sight.

The White Wolf Knight nodded, turned around, just as the Beast King of the beastman warband approached him.

”You are... White Wolf Knight, the best... sacrifice! Belte told me... to take you down!” The Beast King suddenly gestured for all beastmen to retreat, the Eight Pillar Emblem on it constantly flashing with blinding red light.

The Blood God was reminding it; this human is the best sacrifice, present his skull to me!

Meanwhile, Laine was also sizing up his opponent.

This Beast King was unlike any beastman Beast King he had seen before; besides the two large bull horns on its head, it had four more horns growing from its face and behind its head, the whole face was a frantically proliferating filth-like thing, one hand wielding a war axe, the other holding a cleaver, the strong muscles and huge figure oppressed Laine’s sight, placing a severe mental pressure on the White Wolf Knight.

On its horns, on its chest, hung numerous human skulls, all from humans, strings of skulls were its way of proving its glory to the Blood God, the Eight Pillar Emblem flashing red light directly illuminating Laine.

The White Wolf Emblem in Laine’s consciousness also kept flashing.

So that’s how it is, I don’t even need to search, the head my master desires is right before me.

An equal yet unequal fight. Laine was alone, while the beastman warband opposite had at least five hundred, but judging from the knowledge inherited from his father and past experiences, the enemies Laine needed to defeat were not that numerous.

Because the Beast King would not allow other beastmen to interrupt its ritual.

The Beast King raised the war axe, signaling all beastmen to withdraw; it wanted to hunt this knight’s skull alone, as the best offering to the Blood God Khorne, it had heard of this human’s tale, knew that the once mighty beastman leader ”Sharp Fang” Goer died by his hand, obtaining his skull would undoubtedly be extremely gratifying.

The beastmen looked greedily at Laine’s head, and then reluctantly began to retreat. Soon, in the hilly terrain before the High Mountain Fortress, only Laine and Doomsday Bull were left.

”I... Doomsday Bull Taurus, you... White Wolf Knight... name?” Amidst a biting cold wind, the Beast King stood before Laine, looking down on him.

Sure enough, it’s Doomsday Bull, the highest rank among Minotaurs, the strongest existence. It’s said every Doomsday Bull is formed from endless filth and evil, their sole existence is to kill all non-hooved beings.

The weakest Doomsday Bulls start at the Legendary Initial Tier, and this one might be even stronger.

”Laine the Great Hammer, son of Norman, Lord of Autene.” Laine also tightened his grip on the warhammer, silently repeating to himself: The son of my father.

”An... opponent...” Beastman’s Beast King, or rather, Doomsday Bull Taurus wasn’t in a hurry to attack, it opened its bloody mouth wide, allowing Laine to see its full maw of sharp fangs, Taurus took out a long string of necklace-like objects from its waist: ”You... will be, the next one.”

Laine focused his eyes and saw his pupils rapidly widen in pain and astonishment, Taurus held nothing else but a large bunch of Knight’s Badges.

Laine saw among them the Imperial Knight Badge of the golden double-headed eagle, saw the Brittania Kingdom Knight Badge of the lion head, and more were the Nord Knight Badge.

”This was... the best previous offerings.” Taurus took down a skull from its chest, showing it to Laine: ”This is... the knight of that pseudo-god in the lake that excites men daily... before I killed him... I cut off all his limbs, watched his despair... prayed for his lady... to save him, hahahahaha~ I could feel the helpless gaze of that pseudo-god... watching me, it truly made me feel pleasure, and you... are the next one.”

”Heh~” Laine also took out a large horn from his ring, showing it to the Doomsday Bull, his face undaunted: ”This is Sharp Fang Goer’s horn, what a pity, his head was crushed by me like garbage, but no matter, soon, your horn will join my collection.”

Heavy moisture sprayed from Taurus’s bull nose, enveloping its face in fog, the blood-red eyes conveyed that it was enraged. The icy ground fell into a momentary silence, Laine raised his head, staring at the terrifying Doomsday Bull, Taurus lowered its head, gazing at this young White Wolf Knight of the Nord Kingdom.

”Ahhhhh!!!” The Doomsday Bull initiated the attack first, its hefty hoof clamping on the frozen ground, churning up chunks of blood and mud, Laine also took a deep breath, charging head-on.

What his father and adoptive father taught him was never cowardice and escape.

Taurus reached first, sweeping the powerful war axe sideways, Laine immediately dodged low, the gust from the war axe scraped across his face with knife-like pain, but he couldn’t care about these, the White Wolf Knight’s warhammer instantly clashed against the cleaver from the other side of the Doomsday Bull, sparks flew, enormous force transmitting from the wrist made Laine’s arms slightly tremble, his entire frame retreating two steps.

His effort was not without result, Taurus also retreated a step under the White Wolf Knight’s extraordinary force surpassing ordinary human limits, its large bull eyes filled with incredulity; it had never seen a human at this age possessing such power.

”Whew... You... strong... skull... expensive!” Taurus’ face was full of bloodthirsty pleasure, it stuck out its tongue greedily rolling, savoring the bloody air, containing a beguiling fragrance.

Laine remained silent, he ran his hand over his warhammer’s hammerhead, lightning appeared on the hammerhead, released electric arcs around the golden warhammer, his blue eyes under the powerful spiritual energy emitted dazzling white light, pale blue spiritual energy surged out of his body, gradually forming a flimsy protective shield of standard hexagons around his exterior, enveloping Laine within.

This was Laine’s second harvest from the meeting with his father that day — Spiritual Shield.

He was ready.

”Ahhhhh!!! Human!!!”

”Die! Filthy monster!!”

Battle resumed.
