Chapter 59: Chapter 25, Banquet at the Lord’s Longhouse (Part 2)_2

The Blood Axe Mercenary Corps, which had fought a bloody battle with the Beastman Tribe in the Mien Forest just a few days ago, left Boris with lingering fear when he thought about that fight.

This was the biggest difficulty on the road. Everyone around the round table fell into silence, the flickering candlelight swaying constantly. During the discussion, the main route was decided. Finally, Oliver broke the silence: ”Mr. Laine, we might stay another day. Due to a large number of people gathered in this town, we will try to find more companions, including those wandering knights who are willing to travel with us to increase our success rate.”

”Those people are not entirely trustworthy, Oliver. I hope you can discern well who can be companions and who cannot.” Laine frowned, looking at the noisy environment in the longhouse, glasses clinking together, beer foam spreading in the air, people reveling wildly, and the exiled knight named Aik boasting to a group of soldiers: ”Brothers, have you heard of Bagman Beer? Wow~thinking of it makes me drunk already~”

Exiled knights are also known by names like rogue knights or ruffian knights. While seeking to be legitimized, some engage in robbery or even highway robbery and are often a threat to local security.

”Understood!” Oliver naturally agreed wholeheartedly. Merchants have their own calculations, and Laine couldn’t say much more. From some perspectives, he did need Oliver to organize a caravan. The female sorcerer’s body hadn’t recovered yet, and it wasn’t a good time for the two of them to set off rashly.

Having set the general plan, Laine relaxed a bit and participated in the banquet to his heart’s content, indulging in eat and drink until he felt someone tugging at the back of his shirt.

Hmm? Teresa?

”Want to leave?” Laine noticed Teresa already looked a bit impatient, so he led her away from the round table: ”Tired? Why don’t you go first?”

”How long is this banquet going to last?” The female sorcerer already felt a bit fed up with it.

”It might last until tomorrow morning... Do you want me to take you out?” These countryside banquets could last until the next morning. In this era, there was a severe lack of entertainment after dark, and only the great nobles could afford to use magic lamps for lighting; oil lamps couldn’t really serve any significant purpose, so when darkness fell, people could only roll into bed. Therefore, under such circumstances, banquets provided a space for revelry and typically continued until dawn or even daybreak.

”Why don’t you leave with me? Or do you want to find a woman to satisfy your ugly desires?” The female sorcerer stood in front of Laine, her face full of disdain.

Laine blushed. He had indeed just flirted with a widow and set a secret signal, not expecting his actions to be caught by the female sorcerer: ”Uh, if you really want me to.”

”Then let’s go!” The female sorcerer unceremoniously grabbed the collar of the man’s shirt, and the man had to apologize to the lord: ”Sorry, I must leave first.”

”Hahahahaha! Go ahead, you don’t have to keep us old folks company!” Villarld laughed, the beer foam on his beard spraying everywhere, then carelessly said to the courtier beside him: ”I heard that the women in Jialan like to find a Demon Hunter after a banquet... Why did this woman change her taste today?”

”Hahahahaha! She might like this flavor! After all, Mr. Laine is surely better than those Demon Hunters who are soaked in blood all the time, such a handsome young man!” some officer teased.

”Or maybe the two of them just have a good relationship.”

Amidst everyone’s speculation, Laine and Teresa left the longhouse together at this late hour, the night sky dotted with stars, the icy cold air like tangible substance entering the lungs, making Laine shiver involuntarily, sobering up halfway. He lowered his head, gasping: ”Why did you suddenly pull me out?”

”I hate their gazes. Men’s eyes are always on my body, on...many places.” The female sorcerer stomped her foot, her thin high heel pressing into the muddy ground, leaving a mark: ”It’s really disgusting, especially that exiled knight named Aik, his gaze has been fixed on my legs!”

”My gaze has been fixed on your legs too. Beautiful things always make people want to appreciate them, don’t they?” Laine retorted. The outside environment was pitch-black; he could only use spiritual energy to sense the female sorcerer’s location.

”...I know you like stockings. Do you remember the banquet we met the second time?”

”I do... I remember.” A vague sense of bad premonition arose in the man’s heart.

”At that time, my mother and I were sitting beside you, and then midway through the banquet, my mother went outside to discuss matters with His Majesty Harald...”

”I was wrong, I was wrong! Dear Teresa, please don’t bring up that matter?!” Laine was immediately very embarrassed. Whether the female sorcerer could see it or not, he hurriedly clasped his hands together, pleading continuously.

”Hmph! Then you know what you should do.” The female sorcerer’s face also blushed a bit, but in the darkness, neither of them could see each other, so they just walked along a vague direction.

”What should I do?” Laine looked very embarrassed. At that time, he was just a young lad, although his actual age was almost fifty years old, but mental age isn’t just simple addition. He had done something a bit indecently at that time while being muddleheaded, and now the female sorcerer had caught hold of it.
