Villain Extra: Rogue Reader

Shortly after Robert said his piece and left the dining area, everyone’s facade quickly wore off.

”An adopted son is truly an adopted one.” Robert’s third wife, Yerena, glanced at Ray and commented.

”Of course, I’m an adopted son.” Ray quickly replied.

”You’re not the one who gave birth to me. Unless you are secretly my mother!” He gasped in horror.

”W-What?” Yerena was startled.

SLAM!

At that moment, Skyler slammed his palm on the desk and glared at Ray with blazing eyes.

”How dare you insult my mother!” He roared.

”And how exactly did I insult her?”

”You’re saying she gave birth to you.”

”Oh, that’s an insult?” Ray mused and shook his head. ”Nah, the real insult would be if she really is my mother. I wouldn’t want a clown like you as my big brother for real.”

”Why is your mouth so poisonous?” Before Skyler could answer, his twin sister, Skylar, intervened.

”If my mouth is poisonous, then could it be that your mouths are made of gold and could cure people?” Ray turned to her and asked curiously.

”Please cure my wounded heart with your mouth.” As he said that, he puffed his chest out toward her.

”You—” Skylar’s face flushed at his flirtatious and teasing remark. She hurriedly turned her head away to avoid seeing his chest.

”To tease my sister like that, you really must love picking fights.” Skyler suddenly commented and stood up.

”I reckon you have eaten your fill by now, right? Shall we head to the sparring area and have a little spar for ourselves? Or is it that the only capable thing is your mouth and not your combat skills?”

’This kind of low-level provocation...’ Ray nearly cracked a laugh when he heard Skyler’s words.

As expected of a novel designed with multiple face-slapping scenarios.

Skyler was definitely a top-notch cannon fodder character meant to be face-slapped every day.

”What do I even get in return if I agree to a spar?” Ray asked in an amused tone.

To do something without getting anything in return?

Only a fool would waste their energy on something like that!

Sure enough, Skyler was dumbfounded when Ray raised such a question.

”What do you want?” Skyler asked.

”Become my lackey.” Ray clasped his hands and stood up. ”As long as I win the spar, you will become my lackey and listen to me. And if I lose, then I’ll become your supporter in the inheritance war.”

When Ray finished his statement, the atmosphere in the dining room turned cold.

To mention anything about the inheritance war was an extremely sensitive topic.

Although Robert had brought it up earlier, he could do so because he was the head of the household.

Who would question or even tell him to be quiet?

However, who was Ray?

He was just an adopted son!

To speak so openly and without any filter was ridiculous!

”N-Nonsense!” And sure enough, Skyler didn’t dare to accept that kind of condition. If he were to truly win, then wouldn’t all his elder siblings be targeting him?

Not to mention, his own mother would eat him alive if he were to gather supporters so openly!

”You’re right.” Ray nodded in agreement. ”Then if you win, you get nothing except the satisfaction of winning me. But if I win, I’ll be your boss from now on.”

”Hmph, do I look like a fool?” Skyler snorted coldly. As if he would spar with this kind of condition.

”Ah, you think you look like a fool? But you appear to be more of a coward because it seems like you think I’ll win and you’ll lose for sure.”

”Nonsense!”

”If it’s nonsense, then why don’t you accept this condition? Or could it be that you’re someone who can’t enjoy thrills because you’re restricted by your mother?” Ray teased and subtly glanced at Yerena.

Yerena’s brows quickly furrowed upon realizing she had been singled out by the newly adopted son.

She wanted to say something, but quickly noticed the other ”sisters” of hers watched her in amusement.

’Tsk.’ Yerena clicked her tongue. The Lord had already given his indirect warning to not interfere with the children’s dispute.

If any of them were to intervene, then it would be no different than disobeying his words.

’This adopted son is really not simple...’ Her eyes quickly shifted to Ray.

His words might be venomous, but they were all within the acceptable scope.

As of this moment, his banter with her son was still considered a children’s dispute and nothing more. She couldn’t even say anything to rebuke unless she wanted to risk angering the Lord.

”Looks like your mother agrees with my statement.” Ray snickered when he made the correct decision.

In this household filled with rules and regulations, the one who managed to operate the loophole was bound to be the winner.

”Isn’t it just a spar?” Skyler lifted his sleeves up and roared, ”Let’s go then. Who’s afraid of who?”

With his mother’s silence, Skyler took it as silent approval to do the spar.

Meanwhile, his other siblings simply smiled in amusement.

They all placed down their utensils and stood up, clearly expressing intent to spectate the spar.

But to their astonishment, Ray suddenly approached them.

”You’re going to watch us spar, right?” He asked with a bright smile.

They remained silent, but their silence was enough for an answer.

”Pay up to watch.” He extended his hand and demanded fees.

When they began to glare at him with disdain, Ray sneered, ”What? Do you think you can watch entertainment for free?”

To further infuriate them, he made sure to taunt loudly.

”I didn’t know the members of Carrion Household were that shameless. Or could it be that you’re all poor and couldn’t afford to pay? If that’s the case, then I’ll be magnanimous and let you watch if you call me Master.”

THUD!

A pouch filled with money was suddenly tossed to the ground.

”Pick it up if you want the money.” Jake flashed a sly grin.

”I doubt you—”

He was certain Ray wouldn’t pick up the money in such a manner. But to his absolute bewilderment, Ray actually went to pick it up in a lightning flash manner.

”Imagine throwing money away like this. You’re the definition of a spoiled brat, but I like it. Please toss more to the ground.” Ray stuffed the pouch into his pockets.
