Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 243: A Silent Understanding

Liu Yiru was quite skilled in the kitchen. In less than half an hour, she prepared a lunch that was a feast for the eyes and the palate.

The three of them enjoyed the meal heartily.

With their focus now on Ye Feiʼs health, Liu Yiru temporarily forgot about the earlier incident. She no longer felt the embarrassment and racing heart when facing him.

It was unclear whether she had genuinely forgotten or was slowly beginning to adjust.

After the meal, Ye Fei returned to his room to change into a fresh set of clothes.

”Mom, Iʼm going out for a bit,” he said to Liu Yiru.

”Ah? Where are you going?” Liu Yiru was taken aback. Given Ye Feiʼs current condition, he should have stayed at home to recover.

Ye Fei smiled, ”Weʼre leaving for a trip tomorrow. I thought Iʼd visit Lingyun Club to check in and take care of a few things.”

”Iʼll go with you,” Liu Yiru quickly replied. In the past, Ye Fei had been able to command respect from the underworld figures because of his near-invincible strength. But now, he might not even have the strength to lift a bucket of water.

Liu Yiru was genuinely worried that something might happen to him.

Ye Fei smiled confidently. ”Itʼs okay, I can go by myself. Youʼre in legitimate business; itʼs better if you avoid getting involved in these matters. Besides, Lingyun Club is now under Grandpa Zhangʼs control. We should trust him.”

”Well, alright. Just come back soon,” Liu Yiru nodded gently, feeling a bit of loss. Her son no longer needed her help, but more than that, she felt a sense of relief. He had truly grown up, both mentally and physically—a fact she had experienced firsthand just now.

Watching Ye Fei leave the villa, Liu Yiruʼs lips curled into a serene smile. She suddenly felt a sense of security and peace, something she had only felt in her childhood with her father.

Not even her emotionally distant husband had ever given her this feeling.

Today, however, she felt it again, from her son. People often say that a woman depends on her father in childhood, her husband in marriage, and her son in old age.

Was she already old?

Or was it that she had found in him the sense of dependence that her father had failed to provide?

After leaving the villa, Ye Fei walked for a while before hailing a taxi.

Although he had learned to drive, he had not yet obtained his driverʼs license due to his age. He avoided driving unnecessarily, given his sensitive status.

As the head of the largest gang in Wanghai City and the mayorʼs nephew, he needed to be discreet. Drawing too much attention would not only bring trouble to Liu Fengyi but also hinder his plans to fully control Wanghai City. After all, he couldnʼt turn everyone into puppets with his device; public support was crucial.

In the basement of Lingyun Club, Ye Fei met Zhang Yide and Baldy, who were still busy creating more experts.

The people they had recruited in Wanghai City had been mostly transformed.

Next, Baldy and his team would return to Linhai to continue their operations.

Once Linhai was under control, their next target would be Jinhai City, the third corner of the Southeast Triangle, alongside Wanghai and Linhai.

Once Jinhai was theirs, Lingyun Club would dominate the entire region. Even the higher-ups would think twice before taking action against them.

”Boss, youʼre here?” Zi Mao, who had sharp eyes, was the first to spot Ye Fei and exclaimed in delight. Creating experts around the clock was fulfilling, but it could get monotonous over time. Seeing their boss and idol arrive was a welcome surprise.

Ye Fei had come not because he distrusted them—they were his closest confidants. His visit was to check on the progress and to discuss the matter of the Xinyin Sect with Li Si.

Since returning, Ye Fei had wanted to locate the Xinyin Sect to fulfill his promise to Li Si and take care of them.

However, recent events had left him with little time, and with the upcoming trip to the Northeast, he knew he wouldnʼt be able to search for them anytime soon.

Since Baldy and his team were based in Linhai, Ye Fei wanted them to keep an eye on the Xinyin Sect for him, leaving other matters until his return.

After a brief chat with Zhang Yide, Ye Fei brought up the Xinyin Sect. Baldy asked, ”Boss, how do you want us to protect them? Should we do it secretly or make direct contact?”

Ye Fei thought for a moment and said, ”For now, donʼt let them know. Just protect them from the shadows. If anyone suspicious tries to approach them, take them into custody immediately. Ideally, turn them into one of us. By the way, hereʼs the address of the Xinyin Sect. Destroy it after youʼve memorized it.”

With that, Ye Fei handed Baldy a piece of paper with the address written on it.

”Donʼt worry, Boss. As long as weʼre here, nothing will happen to your friendʼs descendants. Even if the enemy is powerful, weʼll die before they do,” Baldy solemnly promised, taking the paper.

Ye Fei shook his head. ”If the enemy is too strong, donʼt intervene. Youʼre my friends too, and much closer than Li Si. I donʼt want you to sacrifice yourselves for his sake.”

Though they had always known Ye Fei was a good leader, Baldy and the others were still deeply moved by his words.

”Understood. Weʼll be careful,” they replied.

”Donʼt worry too much, though,” Ye Fei continued with a smile.

”Li Si was one of that personʼs top three experts, but heʼs still a bit weaker than you guys. Even if that person sends out the other two, they wonʼt pose a threat to you.”

What Ye Fei didnʼt know was that the giant he had killed at the secret base was also one of the top three experts.

Now, that person had only one expert left and wouldnʼt easily send him out.

After settling these matters, Ye Fei didnʼt linger and quickly left Lingyun Club. However, he didnʼt head home immediately.

It was already late October, and while Wanghai City was still warm, Changbai Mountain would definitely be cold. He needed to prepare some warm clothes for his mother.

He took a taxi to a shopping center not far from the Liu family villa.

Following a salesperson, Ye Fei arrived at the winter clothing section on the fourth floor.

Since it was still off-season, the area was quite deserted, with only a few listless saleswomen around.

Ignoring their eager glances, Ye Fei wandered around the section on his own.

Suddenly, a pure white mink coat caught his eye.

At first glance, he knew it was perfect. Its color and style matched Liu Yiru so well. She would look even more beautiful in it.

He could already envision the scene: his goddess-like mother, wearing the pure white coat, standing quietly in a snowy landscape. It would be an incredibly picturesque sight.

”Excuse me, could you wrap this up for me?”

A familiar, melodious voice interrupted Ye Feiʼs reverie. He turned his head and saw his mother, Liu Yiru, standing not far behind him, holding a pure black menʼs down jacket that she was asking a saleswoman to wrap.

A woman who always put others before herself—how could he not cherish and love her for a lifetime? Ye Fei felt his heart filled with happiness and couldnʼt help but call out, ”Mom!”

Liu Yiru handed the down jacket to the saleswoman to be wrapped, thinking about how Ye Fei would look in the clothes she had chosen for him.

Suddenly, she heard his voice and quickly turned her head.

There he was, standing beside her, holding the white mink coat she had already noticed and fallen in love with. She had planned to buy it for herself later, but he had already picked it out for her.

Though they were mother and son, Liu Yiru didnʼt have the same kind of telepathic connection that Ye Fei had with Ye Yunqi.

She had envied them a bit in the past, but she knew it was something unique to the twins, something she couldnʼt replicate.

Yet, in this moment, she felt a sense of unspoken understanding with Ye Fei.

They had both come to the same supermarket, and their first thought upon entering was to buy warm clothes for each other. And they had even chosen the same item.

This gave her a secret sense of happiness, a feeling more wonderful than the usual concern between mother and son.
