Three Towers Game

Chapter 1372: Chapter 437: The Constellations Gather

Wen Xishu actually was fairly sure that Pisces wouldn’t kill him. He’d asked that on purpose.

Pisces said:

”You don’t need to play these little clever tricks. Don’t you find them boring?”

Wen Xishu said:

”So I don’t have to die. Nice.”

Pisces really wanted to roll her eyes; she actually wasn’t very used to Wen Xishu acting like this.

Wen Xishu himself hadn’t noticed... it was strange. Even though her favorability toward him wasn’t high, when facing Pisces, he even felt like he could act cute. It all felt very relaxed.

Probably because Pisces had stopped him from dying just now, making him realize that maybe Pisces wasn’t his enemy—at least not for the moment.

And after dealing with constellations for a while, Wen Xishu had gradually discovered that a few of them really... weren’t all that terrifying.

”You don’t have to put on that ’looking at an idiot’ expression. After all, I’m just a little small fry right now. When big fish like you show up, the fact that I can walk away alive is already something to be thankful for. I didn’t get swallowed in one gulp, and I even want to clink glasses with you.”

”Back in the previous Desire Tower run, I was actually on Scorpio’s side. You and Scorpio are basically at war now, right?”

Pisces didn’t deny it:

”A world that’s turned into a game will change certain rules of time. His game powers have a lot of save/load resurrection types of abilities that will damage things.”

”And he has the strongest offensive capability.”

Between what he said about himself and what his enemies said about him, which one should he trust? Wen Xishu had his own judgment.

In some cases, enemies might actually be more objective.

”Why do you say his offensive capability is the strongest?” Wen Xishu asked.

Pisces was surprisingly patient:

”You really can’t see it? He’s the one who is, in the true sense, preparing to beat every last one of us.”

”By rights you should be able to feel it.”

”After all, right now his strongest piece on the board is you.”

Once Wen Xishu heard that and recalled everything that had happened, he realized it really was like that.

He himself could feel that Scorpio was using him, seemingly actively preparing for war; he’d even seen, with his own eyes, the future where Scorpio fought a great war against Lion.

”Okay, but from my point of view, some things are mutual exploitation. Like this time, the ability Scorpio gave me works better than my own.” Wen Xishu said.

Pisces didn’t deny that either.

The two of them fell silent for a while, the air suddenly a bit quiet.

Wen Xishu inexplicably feared this kind of silence.

”From your perspective, you’ve already seen me long ago, haven’t you? Last time... at Charlie’s place, you’d already gone through that, right?

Pisces still spoke in that faint, keep-strangers-at-a-distance tone:

”Yes. You finally caught on.”

”Since my power is a Time Ability, of course I can synchronize information with myself at each time node.”

”I have indeed already met you, Wen Xishu.”

”I really dislike Bunker People, randomly tampering with time—and those changes are unpredictable. All I can do is passively accept it, just watch the situation keep getting worse.”

At that last sentence, Pisces was clearly radiating killing intent.

There was a chill in her eyes, and Wen Xishu had to admit that the gap between him and a Divine Level combatant was still far too large.

Just being looked at made his spine feel cold.

But just as Wen Xishu was about to explain something, Pisces said:

”But you’re different.”

Wen Xishu froze.

The coldness faded from Pisces’s eyes:

”At the beginning, I wanted to get rid of you too, after you helped Scorpio ruin An Rongzai’s plan.”

”I’d thought about it—you were also one of those who were chaotically tampering with history.”

”But later, over at the An Family Brothers, I saw some interesting variables. Granted, An Rongzai now has a chance to slip out of my control; his ambition is enormous.”

”But I also gained an unexpected pleasant surprise.”

”I’ve been observing you. Actually observing you for a long time.”

”Most Bunker People like you will linger on the first twenty floors of the Desire Tower, constantly screwing over those people.”

”The world will get worse and worse.”

”But there are also a few people who will try to repair things, to make the world better. Before you, there were two. I’ve taken one of them under my wing.”

”And then there’s you.”

Wen Xishu said:

”When you say the others screw over people in the Desire Tower... you mean?”

Pisces said:

”They let their targets obtain pleasure—crudely understood as ’loving’ the target, giving them love, even physical pleasures of the flesh.”

”They completely ignore each character’s background, don’t use the miraculous power of the Desire Tower to observe and dig deep into the origin of the apocalypse.”

”Because of the scarcity inside the Bunker, they treat the early, low-risk levels of the Bunker as their own place to unleash desire... a toilet.”

”Bunker People are really disgusting, aren’t they?”

Wen Xishu lowered his head.

There was nothing wrong with that criticism; as a legend of the Bunker, he really had to admit it.

Even Wenren Mirror had made that same mistake—crudely assuming that making Tang Rui happy meant giving Tang Rui a perfect romance.

In the end, Tang Rui still committed suicide and turned into a monster.

On one hand, that had to do with the mission description of the Desire Tower being overly simple.

The Desire Tower’s mission description was just: bring happiness to such-and-such target.

On the other hand... people always dodge the difficult but correct course and choose the short-term, simple, and profitable one.

And the system where poor people can only climb the Deceit Tower and Slaughter Tower, while the rich and powerful are the only ones qualified to climb the Desire Tower, resulted in the lower-level targets of the Desire Tower being exploited.

”The Three Towers will not give you infinite time. Bunker People have already, out of stupidity, wasted so, so much.”

”All three towers are important. Maybe you think the Deceit Tower is the most important; maybe someone thinks the Slaughter Tower is the most important. But the tower that actually alters reality has always been the Desire Tower.”

”And before you and a few others appeared, most Bunker People were like johns visiting a brothel.”
